I just got home after travelling for 27 hours.

I've been in Asia since before this pandemic outbreak. Initially I hadn't planned too be away for more than a couple of months, so I never brought my trezor with me. I had enough on my exchange and my phone wallet to cover my expanses for said couple of months. But then all this happen with lock-down and cancelled flights as a result, making my stay longer than intended.

Although my expenses was reduced because everything was closed down, including the alcohol-ban (amazing how much you can save by not drinking), last week I had to spend my last remaining fiat to make sure I could get home.

Moral of the story (or at least a reminder to self) - don't travel without at least some of your coins, preferably on a hardware wallet. Plan for the worst, you never know what could happen.

As a side note. This event also made my net-worth, even though it was unintentional, 100% in bitcoin.

Now I'm going into a two week long quarantine. Not that I worry too much about myself, but you never know who I might have gotten in contact to on this trip, especially in Stockholm and on the train. I don't want to spread anything onto my boomer parents.

All is good though. The grocery store does home delivery, the liquor store too. A friend promised to bring me some weed. And best of all, The Last of Us 2 is released in a couple of days. This is fine.

So, I got a letter in my mailbox, handwritten, no stamp, obviously delivered by hand, from someone called Mona.
I open it and it starts "My name is Mona, I'm one of Jehovas witnesses in Malmö.
Considering the current situation I choose to write to you instead of visiting you in person..."

Bloody hel, even Jehovas is doing social distancing.

Same here at my parents, came handwritten but unlike at you it came by postal mail.
Just glanced over it, but these sentences sound familiar.

Must be a worldwide Jehova-OP, these guys know how to grow their herd of (paying) sheep.

They started that two months ago as a safety measure in New York ... and spread around the world.
No sense getting ppl sick... and its never been about "paying sheep" it's supported by voluntary donations. They feel an obligation to fellow mankind and the preaching of the coming good news of Gods kingdom on earth and a bright hope for the future. Matt 24:14 rev 21:3,4

Anything that adds benefit to Bitcoin for me is good.

US Plan to Delist Chinese Stocks Could Trigger Massive Bitcoin Buying Spree

Quote
Because the delisting of Chinese companies from the US markets could have dire impacts on the country’s economy, citizens residing there may continue turning to alternative investments like Bitcoin to hedge their portfolios.

The Bitcoin software from satoshi syncs the current bitcoin chain (well, until it hits a bug with blocks over 500k, but if you fix that it keeps on syncing).

Except for the fact that it doesn't? Niiiice.

These leeches from bcash lol and soi disant bsv piggy-back on our security system - the mining network that was so carefully designed by satoshi.

Your security system? You don't own the miners. Well, unless you own the miners. In which case you direct them at whichever chain pleases your fancy.

All this sturm und drang and you still don't understand Satoshi's incentive mechanism.

We are currently in slowest difficulty era since 2009.

Relatively speaking, the hash rate drop in 2036 was pretty remarkable as well.

What else can you tell us about the future, dear newbie, aka time traveller?

Maybe tell us something closer to the present, because I am NOT sure if my time preference is going to allow me to enjoy such 2036 info with as much vigor as maybe something a bit closer to the present.

Erm... behind?

EDIT: Aaaw! i was too late.
LFC did it first.

hahahaha

Thinking about this further... maybe the first one in the line should be mindrust slapping himself... .. I hate to be seen as the instigator on this situation... especially since  Mindrust did it to himself, then the rest of us followed.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

We must also thank mindrust since he has provided us with fodder for years to come.. I mean, I cannot even imagine not mentioning mindrust here and there a couple of (or even a few) years from now...   something like:  "remember mindrust.. he sold at the bottom, even though several of us were trying (and even begging) to talk him into some kind of mitigation of damages.. yet he was too stubborn."   He would not cut his loose..... Yup - quite cute indeed. But when it comes to skaters, I'm more an Anna Seminovich kinda guy.

Alright I am annoyed and saddened and really fucking tired. Also down to just one merit, but I will give it to the best youngster, newbie or kid who can write a decent - short will do fine - riposte to the kindergarten shit that is happening over here:

 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248291.msg54499261#msg54499261

Of course I have sympathy for our fallen ex-member mindrust who has gone back 5 years in his understanding of bitcoin, but please do your best to put cobra at least in his place, the beginners and help section.

Meh. Cobra just being edgy for the sake of presenting some edge. As is their wont.

When's the last time you honestly valued their opinions?

JJG should feel honored that they actually read his entire response though.

It was all fun and games until the WO unleashed JJG on Cobra.

And I see must of Cobra's posts there as a waste of space. He's repeating some of the same debunked nonsense that Peter Schiff and Co. have been repeating for years.

Gosh, yeah.

I was a bit surprised regarding how much Cøbra seemed to want to defend gold relative to bitcoin.. and to suggest that I was being too harsh on gold because I was proclaiming bitcoin to be a sounder form of money than gold and/or fiat, and to be fair, Cøbra did not go as far as Peter Schiff, even though we might NOT have known it if we did not presume that Cøbra at least owns a decent amount of bitcoin (as he proclaims to).  Peter cannot bring himself around to admitting any kind of value in owning any bitcoin (except admitting that he missed the boat and other nonsense like that).

Besides my walls of text to attempt to bury Cøbra (hahahahaha), I am not really sure how heavily I argued against gold or against Cøbra's desire to put gold on some kind of solid store of value pedestal... even though I did assert that gold has hardly appreciated in value in the past 12 years and I also just abandoned the argument to some extent by asserting that each of us needs to decide for ourselves how much to allocate into gold versus bitcoin versus fiat in terms of our own assessment of our financials,... and in that regard, we will see how our varying allocation choices play out in the coming years.

I personally doubt that the value of either gold or fiat are going to play out very well relative to bitcoin in the next 5 years or so (probably even sooner, but I don't necessarily suggest that newbies get into bitcoin on a shorter time horizon, these days), but hey whatever, people are free to make their own choices in that respect.

I am not sure what you want to know, and how much I can tell you. Those of you that are choosing to HODL BTC today, are going to become a new class of wealthy elite, that will likely be able to afford the first round of habitats being built. The first manned planning expeditions are due to arrive in some time late February of 2037. MC-03, MC-05, and MC-10 are regions that will be evaluated for colonization sites. Construction rigs are due to arrive some time in mid 2039.

Beyond that, it would not be proper to discuss BTC, other than to say it is very much a part of day to day life before I left for the trip back. What do you think was responsible for helping to fund most of the research into time travel ?
