I am analyzing I bonds as I type.
Thank god for Philip. You are doing god's work to help us out to better understand these various govt offered products. Thankie uie pooie, so muchie. Its a new world 🌍 I used to like to think I was typing to some fool sitting at pc. A keyboard warrior , but now who knows?
Does the cat know that s/he is a cat? thus when I leave the house buddy gains on me. and of course buddy gains while I sleep.
Don't leave the house. And, don't sleep. "Pensions are a western world concept."
Yeah they are. And if you manage to get a good one you become somewhat subservient to it.
Thus no F.U. status unless you have the money to fully replace it and do not care if they (the man) eliminates it.
Right... Seems like nothing sinks into ur noggen.. Pensions and Fuck you status are mutually exclusive. Surely you are lacking in thought creativity. Yes.. I called you surely.

My reason is because a lot of countries do not have internet every where. I lot of places in Africa need offline money and sending transactions offline with Bitcoin is difficult. It can be done by giving someone a seed of a set amount but that is not ideal. We need different currencies for different things. Bitcoin is the king when it comes to global transactions but when it comes to local and quick transactions physical might be better not always but in certain times.
Satellite will become more popular and given enough time the whole world will have internet access. The only places that might struggle will be the places where they do not have any power but I think this will improve too. The world is evolving and as soon as Bitcoin takes off the places with no power or internet will be encouraged to develop if the rest of the world is using Bitcoin. I have to agree with you as satellites will achieve world wide coverage in the next decade. starlink just became available in my area and im on it now. easy to self install (took about an hour including the roof mount and drilling holes for the cable run. kit comes with everything you need - 2 drill bits (a concrete/masonary bit for the through holes in the foundation, and one wood bit to drill mounting holes on the roof or siding and into studs/rafters, plus a couple kinds of sealers, templates, cable clips for running the line neatly, etc. and 99.9% uptime so far. speeds are pretty good, faster than any inet ive had available around here by a LOOOOONG shot... although the previous bar was pretty low indeed. tlrd: starlink rocks... blockchain cranks dling now. and just in time to grab all that bloat from nfts.... ah well progress is progress i guess.

What are you running it off? Solar power going into a battery bank and then running it directly off the battery pack into the satellite? Does it move or is it stationary? I cannot think why it would use as much energy as you say because if it does not have a motor it should just be pointing at the satellite and if that does not move it just sends the connection back. If it has a motor and follows the satellite I can see why it would use a lot of energy.

I have always wanted to move off grid but have been too scared to do it. I think you need to have mechanical skills which I do not possess and without them if any thing goes wrong with your power system then you become stuck. Does any one have any advice for someone who does not know much about electronics or power systems? I would probably go the solar panel route but not sure if they need any maintenance after setting them up or any thing I would need to consider before using them. I would probably only start partially relying on a off grid system before fully converting.

the dish has motors (3 axis i think.. ) and does change. ive seen it pointing to varying degrees north and east as well as change its azmith (may have those terms wrong) anyway it does move, and there seems to be no real pattern. but as long as it works.. btw my starlink and the rest of the network stack are on a UPS. and i highly recommend a UPS at LEAST for the startlink. turns out if you power it off and on 3 times in a row it resets to a blank password and anyone can then take over your starlink. as starlink didnt bother with a dedicated hard reset switch on the router. so 3 power cycles is how it done. so of course 3 power glitches in short succession is faily common around here. doh.. gotta wonder sometimes. great tech but the occasional horrid implementation.

I did buy 2 m30s+ units which are earning coin as I type. I am adding a 110th s19 pro next week
Props to you for continuing mining. I just can't cost-justify the aggravation at this point managing a miner - I was torturing myself with Lightning as it is, and find at the end of the day, it's just easier to smash buy $250 at odd intervals; knowing it's more BTC than I would have acquired if I never bought the miner to begin with... Unnerstan? yep 👍 since that is the cheapest way for you to buy btc. my mining deal allows me to get btc at 50% off. once the gear is paid for. So if I expand slowly during the “dip” i pay the piece of gear off quickly and then get coin at half price

If it has a motor and follows the satellite I can see why it would use a lot of energy. it does have motors...and it moves around on its own when it needs too...once its locked in it should not moved around much tho i think its because it receives and transmits is why the power draw is higher than i would like...up to 140w...thats around 3.4k watt/hours per day it does not draw that all the time but it can solar is getting easier and cheaper and i think having the ability to support your own energy needs in this day in age is a must have you need 4 basic things and then all the bits and bobs to hook it together you need to generate electricity....maintain and convert the electricity your going to store..store that electricity and then use it...so that usually involves solar panels to generate...a charge controller to maintain and convert...batteries to store and a inverter to use said electricity there is tons of videos and self help sites out there for getting started *example nerd https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adFGmOlDM-Ydyor -------- +1 WOsMerit @vapourminer -------- Murdock found guilty of both murders. Given the sheer mass of material that has to be shot into space on a regular base to keep things working I have my doubts this will be sustainable for a long time. Oh god I redid the math on re-entries:
Each Starlink v2 sat weighs 1250kg. They plan to have 42,000 of them in orbit.
Each satellite has a planned lifetime of 5 years. That means they'll be de-orbiting and replacing ALL of them every 5 years.
That comes to 23 sats per day, which is 29 TONS OF SATELLITE every day.
It doesn't go away, it gets added to the upper atmosphere. Most of the mass is aluminum. What the hell is that going to do?
WHY THE FUCK IS THIS OK?! ^ And again, that's only for Starlink, there are many more.
