Dammit!  It seems like something bad is brewing at Twitter as well.  I'm being coerced to sign up in order to view the content but I've only ever wanted to be a passive listener; guess I'm done with Twitter now too (for the second time).  Oh well, it happened before; I guess I should have expected it.

Fuck Twitter.

I learned my lesson about signing up with any antisocial media websites after I got talked into joining "this cool website called Facebook" long before most people had heard of it.

As soon as I signed up and logged in I immediately thought "What is this? A CIA data mining scam?" Of course it was, even when it was mostly Harvard students.

I considered all the others that followed to be the same.

Gentlemen,

are you ready for some fresh offtopic content?
However, here we go:

IC 5070, aka. Pelican Nebula.
2 hours of data, including a few thin clouds crossing the viewport, which make the brighter stars look softer in the end.
I added an infrared filter to the camera, compared to the old, IR-rich photographs, structures now look sharper and more detailed.

The matter what so anyone who is planning to invest or buy BTC at the rate of $10k is wasting how or her  and before that will come again, it will be 5 to 6 years time. So the person has to be patiently waiting for that year to come.
Anything that makes Bitcoin fall to $10K
Would be the downfall of Bitcoin
The cost of mining Bitcoin is higher than $15K
It would continue to rise in subsequent years
Anything that makes Bitcoin to fall to $15K means
Miners has chosen to cut losses and sell
Which would not be Good news for Bitcoin

Mining difficulty adapts to different conditions. If it is less profitable to mine, some miners will turn off the equipment, the difficulty will decrease, and mining will become more profitable. Satoshi Nakamoto thought about this beforehand and it is one of the things that makes bitcoin unique and so attractive. Wink

I’m a little surprised that stocks are seeing such a huge rise today on the news that the government is going to make people who borrowed money pay it back, but Bitcoin hasn’t really followed suit. Possibly because of the big move above $31K we saw recently, but it’s starting to feel like the market is showing the first signs of exhaustion.

(I can only hope this will age well)

(I'm trying the whole meta thing, where fearing how low something goes, has the effect of stabilizing it. It's all very hand-wavy and complicated...)

Watching the 'peaceful' protests unfold in my neighbouring country France I wonder if Prigozhin should ask the french next time on how to properly overthrow a government. /s

Though in all seriousness, it looks like something very bad is brewing there, not looking good at all r/n.

You can use nitter to view twitter posts without logging in. This wired page explains how to use it.

https://www.wired.com/story/nitter-twitter-remove-ads-for-you-promoted-tweets/

Quote
You can easily change any Twitter URL to a Nitter URL by simply replacing "twitter.com" with “nitter.net”—for example: Instead of twitter.com/WIRED, you would type nitter.net/wired.

Instead of

https://twitter.com/bitcointalk

use

https://nitter.net/bitcointalk

I had used nitter previously and was reminded of it early this morning but I had no luck with it... then I found this:

 R.I.P. Nitter 😭 #919

and this comment from sunlightspectre is my fave:

"There are plenty of people who only engage in the modern internet through front-ends; myself being one of them. I have no interest in registering for sites; it took me ages to register a proper git.

One wonders what will happen when these self-inflicted stab-wounds deplete 'profit' rather then generate it?..
Removing access isn't going to make people want to use a site more.
And it certainly won't inflate user numbers, which I'd imagine is the end goal.

C'est la vie.

I'm glad I got to experience the internet as it was.
