I don't quite get your question about merit.

You need 1 merit to become Jr member, and 10 to become Member.

You shouldn't ask for merit. People give merit for good posts.

You only need to make relevant, interesting posts, and you will get merit eventually.

Not really, there's a formula. I suggest that you read the main post, the formula was posted there plus other info about ranks etc.

You are missing merit for that.

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

Rank	Required activity	Required merit
Brand new	0	0
Newbie	1	0
Jr Member	30	1
Member	60	10
Full Member	120	100
Sr. Member	240	250
Hero Member	480	500
Legendary	Random in the range 775-1030	1000

In your case 7 more merit will get you to Member, and 97 more to full member.

I'm glad JLO brought the topic up.   I didn't know about it.   I've been away for a couple years because I got tried of the all the scams and self righteous so-called scam police.   It was literally impossible to post an honest viewpoint without being attacked.   That seems to have died out now, at least I hope so.

You need 149 more Merits to become a Sr member mate and you can do it  
I started from 0 merits but now I have 143 merits without even so much effort... so if i can, then you too can do it.
Never be discouraged because of merit, just discuss with people and contribute to the forum.

Newbies can become a copper member to be able to display images.

By popular demand, newbies can now pay to have some of their restrictions lifted. If you pay the fee, you become a Copper Member, and you can post images. That's the main point of this: allowing newbies to post images.  -snip-

The activity is related to the posts but unlike posts and as explained on the OP, it will only increase by a maximum of 14 points per 2 weeks period.

If you want to enable seeing posts for everyone inside threads, you can go to your Profile => Forum Profile Information => Show post count by posts (Tick this option).

You now need to have Merit and activity in orther to rank up; as stated in the first lines of the OP:

Update on 9/19/18: Merit points are now added
In addition to the activity points, merit points (click for more information) are required to advance your ranking. You will need at least 1 merit point before you can be a Jr. Member (click for more information). 

So you are missing 1 merit for Jr Member, 10 for Member....

According to new rules your rank need to follow 2 things and those are merit and activity. You have enough activity to be a member but you have no merit. You need atleast 1 merit to be a jr. member and atleast 10 merit to be a member.
