The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Hey everybody. My withdrawal from MtGox in Euros via SEPA is heavily delayed. It has been "confirmed" (e.g. cued for execution) for 14 days now. I complained and demanded a cancellation to rebuy bitcoins and sell them on Bitstamp or alike. They refused that and told me to wait "just a little longer" as the transfer is "in the middle of being processed" by their bank (which I find a completely inadequate and unprofessional - if not childish - description of whatever is happening to the transaction right now). I consider this as unacceptable. I wanted to share this experience with other users here so they are warned when considering using MtGox to sell their BTC for Euro. If you had comparable experience please share.
Money arrived on 19th April. Delay ~ 16 days.

I think you should apologise for badmouthing them. They have returned my bitcoin whenever I asked to cancel a transfer for delays. Obviously they were telling you the truth that your withdrawal was being processed. They don't control the bank and as you can see from all the other problems exchanges are facing- it's not just MtGox.

more or less retired.

I won't apologize for anything, because I never badmouthed anyone. I just protocolled the process. Which was in the end unacceptably slow.

Bollocks. SEPA either goes through or doesn't. The limit and the size of the queue are known to them. So being professional on their hand would have meant e.g. giving some ETA.

Me 11 days and waiting. I have bills to pay from that bank account. This delay is costing me money. If I knew it would have taken so long, I would have gone for international transfer, which for the amount I'm moving also works out cheaper than SEPA.

sepa on 2013/04/10, not arrived

Poland, where mtgox have their bank that operate in euro area,

is NOT a country inside the SEPA agreement...

so, at this point... someone know the difference between a normal bank wire transfer from poland or a sepa from poland?

so, Poland is in SEPA agreement,

there are standard "timing" for a SEPA bank wire, they can't make wait us more than 5 working days in total!  Angry

SEPA payments are required to not take longer than 1 business day, by law

and so, we will have to notify to competent authorities this mistake that mtgox's bank in europe made to us?

http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/payments/crossborder/index_en.htm

"If you believe that the rules of Regulation (EC) No 924/2009 have been breached by a payment service provider, please contact the national competent authorities (notified by the Member States) responsible for the application of the Regulation in your Member State or in a Member State where the problem appeared"

You bet this causes inconvenience!

SEPA transactions are regulated by EU law and required to not take more than 1 business day.
I got the exact same reply from "James Support".

SEPA, April 6th withdrawal.

Ticket reply:
"Sorry for the delay. The transaction is in process.Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA at the moment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will continue to check the status of these transferes and notify you as soon as they are processed."

Needless to say, this will be my last transaction with them.

[Update] Asked for a refund. I'm not sure what their timezone is, but 4 hours have passed and nothing.

Why the frell so many retards spell "ect" as an abbreviation of "Et Cetera"? "ETC", DAMMIT! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Et_cetera

My April 5th withdraw appeared on my bank account on the 19th, so it took 2 weeks. my April 8th withdraw is still "confirmed", not pending or processed so not expecting it until Thursday at the earliest.

Both of those were initiated near the beginning of the day, so the first one took 11 workdays and the second one is 12 and counting. Seems the queues are getting even longer, which makes sense considering the huge trading interest back then. Probably will get even worse when the crash days hit the queue...

They're hitting their withdrawal limits big time.
