wow -- this is a good catch Phil. Funny that the m2sata lot of 10 you found previously is like 10 bucks -- so cheaper than this - but need mobo that support m2. EDIT: my bad, the m2 were 8gb ones vs this nice small ssds 64gb - more than enough for smos. this is a good deal for windows as they are 64gb they need a 2 dollar adapter and a windows key but a 64 gb with windows 7 pro installed is decent price. takes about 90 minutes to get to the updates as you need to do the first long update to set the key. That long update is slow and painstaking . 3-4 hours. once it is done you can put the key in which will stay.. I rather do smOS but with my two nvidia rigs I am doing windows 7 pro.

Letting this GPU do only ZEC mining may well be much higher than this.

I am not sure why people are obsessing with Windows. Get a single Linux CD (if you don't want to download) or usb and install on 50 machines..much higher uptime and NO idiotic restarts (granted, this is more of a Win 10 problem).
its a POS to undervolt in liniux unless you are gpu rom master

I do not know how/why so many people have such bad experiences on windows. The only time my windows rigs hanged or restarted was in the beginning when I was figuring out optimal settings. Since then all 10 of them have been almost flawlessly up for 8+ months, barring the occassional hardware failure. Almost all the advocates of Linus based OS'es like SMOS and ethOS etc DO NOT UNDER CLOCK/VOLT and just simply let the cards run at stock clocks/volts with cards consuming upto 40% more power for almost the same performance, and love it because they have to do very little.

Letting this GPU do only ZEC mining may well be much higher than this.
My position on switching software is that it sucks and always is chasing the hot coin. ie don't use it.
My zec is 7000h at the moment making about 49 a day 1888 of that is 3 080 ti's so 1888/7000 x 49 = 13.21 x ⅓ = $ 4.40 per dayThat is 10% higher on lower clocks I can get my 3 1080 ti's to do 2060 but they run hotter. I am not sure why people are obsessing with Windows. Get a single Linux CD (if you don't want to download) or usb and install on 50 machines..much higher uptime and NO idiotic restarts (granted, this is more of a Win 10 problem).

power savings and heat are achieved.
If I had a partner to do custom roms I would consider doing them. But in general doing custom roms can cause a lot of issues. Like you I run windows also and if you set win 7 and or win 10 correctly they are okay. I prefer smOS since I can access my rigs from all over the world and change settings fast.I am not sure why people are obsessing with Windows. I did a lot of research on stopping win 10 updates and I can keep them down to 1 or 2 a month at worst. but they fuck with virus settings and once in a while wipe stuff out. I did a lot of research to stop this from happening and most of the time it works.
Some windows 10 are custom for the gear lenovo has a nice little pc the m700 but the win 10 in it sucks. I am always having to fuck with it.
I think the most challenging for me in mining is the software it is endless which huge choices and time consuming.

Hit win + x. then click system. goto advanced system settings. click the hardware tab. then click device installation settings. Then click no. This will disable all device upgrades. I still have windows updates tho for the rest of the system. about every 3-4 days. Really annoying. back in the day we would consider windows 10 malware. BR

During my Windows days, I use Google Drive and MS Onedrive to store a active production copy of all my miners folders (config, settings etc.)
So for every rig, I have a startup batch file that points to the cloud folder and runs the batch file that I want the rigs to execute.
So far I didn't have a folder in cloud deleted by AV or Win10.
Also by using this common batch file to point at the correct mining folder in the cloud storage, all rigs runs the same copy of Claymore miner for each rig. This made my ssd clones consistent for all rigs.
The auto update and random restarts without permission by W10 really pissed me off and that's the time I started using Linux, ethOS, smOS, Ubuntu..... Finally, I have settled with smOS for my farm of 33 rigs.

Gosh I just need to get one of my computer engineer friends to be my network engineer. I just am having trouble after trouble with these damn things. Maybe I will keep playing around with EthOS to see if I can figure out why my one rig won't run for more than an hour with it, but is fine with all other rigs. I ended up getting that same rig running on a windows 7 install yesterday and it only ran for about 2 hours. Maybe on eof the cards is going bad.

details on the bad rig I have had 3 mobos maybe 4 mobos since 2012 have shut down issues that were not solved. I have had 10 or 11 I figured out. Fast guess switch out the psu. Some psu's fade and shut down in 30 minutes to 6 hours.

Some psu's fade and shut down in 30 minutes to 6 hours. Have had it for about a month and a half, when it came, it came with a server case which I used, but temps were regularly in the 80 degrees C range, which I meant to fix, but never got around to. One day I got home from work and the thing was shut down and would not start up. I bought a package from GPUshack to get it going again since I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, and it started up with EthOS that came with it, but never ran for more than an hour. I switched the EthOS SSD to my other rig and it ran all night. So i plugged in the rig I switched it with's SSD (Windows 10) and it only detected 3 out of 5 cards. I plugged in a hard drive with Windows 7 and it detected 4 out of 5 cards. Tried to install drivers to fix that, but they didn't install. So ran the rig last night with just 4 cards to at least let it run and it restarted itself after about 2 hours.

I am playing with the nvidia 1080 ti rig 3 cards it is a beast. 606 watts 1888-1906 h pretty steady I am building a lessor one it will be zotac 1060 mini and zotac 1080 mini or maybe 2 zotac 1060 minis and one 1080mini or maybe 1 1060 ------- comes today 1 1070 1 1080 ------- in hand

For the last 5 years, I have not run virus protection. On many machines it can eat up a LOT of system resources and compute time unnecessarily. In 10 and 7, I always disable defender as well. I know what some will say; and frankly, I don't care... lol. It works for me, and I have yet to get bugs on machines that mine or do their own tasks without user intervention. I haven't gotten a virus.bug in a LONG time now.... I always check stuff in a sandbox before I use them on my real machines. The days of the MSG_OOB bug and the like are far behind us.... I know there's always exploitable holes in windows; but they aren't as system/kernel deep as they used to be. But on friends machines that want to earn a few bucks with their GPU, I have to do the same before I even try to download the scripts and miners, add a custom folder to the ignore list on defender, spyware and virus apps. It's annoying how botnets caused cpuminer and sometimes ccminer to be seen as a virus. I personally am curious as to what heuristic they use to detect a miner app. It can possibly be changed with a little code shuffling in the app. Also by using this common batch file to point at the correct mining folder in the cloud storage, all rigs runs the same copy of Claymore miner for each rig. This made my ssd clones consistent for all rigs.
are you passing an argv/argc to the batch via command line to have a rig identifier to distinguish them online? something like: "X:\>miner.bat RackMiner-1"?? In zpool I can add a miner/worker name to the password string to identify which miner is online and not. I like your idea of leaving it on GD and executing remotely.... The cloud is a wondrous thing, but I don't like leaving my important things in others' hands... lol.
