I think that is a wise way to do it; start small and learn the ropes a bit then work your way upwards once you have some experience and coins/$ coming back in.  As for what my wife thinks of it.... well she works on them with me and is now doing the vast majority of all the daily logs and book work for finances/taxes. She's getting more confident with setting up and/or adjusting hardware, but it may be awhile before she gets interested in the software tweaking aspect of it. Anyways, I'm sure our case is a bit unusual.... but a decade ago she didn't even know that you could build a computer yourself let alone name a single part in them. lol |

Do you have above 4gb decoding enabled and have win10 installed in eufi mode? also try pcie lane timing thing from 32 to 64 and peg0/peg1 to gen1 or auto.. I have 7gpu working on my msi z170a pro gaming carbon
I have z270a win10 with 8gpu EUFI mode, rember also not use last driver with signature check or if you try to patch them then window not will start cause it is in EUFI mode, in legacy mode they will start but you can't run with more 7 gpu. i use also gen 3 but i don't see different between 1/3 @drrobert What 270 mobo is it you are running? AMD or Nvidia gpu? Been wanting to try an 8 gpu rig. Thanks Where can I find some good instructions for a huge newb to compile miners for windows? Much appreciated |

Can somebody suggest where to buy breakout board + picopsu with cables for HP 1200W PSU in good price?
Anybody tried make breakout board/picopsu or something for hp 2450W? As i know they are not so loudy and more efficient then HP 1200W.

The last year gpu mining has been really good amazing good. But mining successfully depends on difficulty ,your gear, your power cost and price of coins. So while many people are making good money it could slow up and prices good fall. I would never count on this to last at this level for years to come. But for one or two years it could happen. Op could make say 4000 a month for 2 straight years. I could make say 1000 a month for 2 straight years. But I live in New Jersey and you kind of need 5000 a month after taxes to live decently. Op lives in Texas has a wife and kids So 5000 a month after taxes most likely is not enough for him. My guess he keeps his day job just in case. |

That is correct, provided that the 6 GPUs you have don't take more then 8 PCIE connectors total between the 6 of them. You would need an ATX PSU to power your motherboard, cpu, ssd/hdd, any fans, and the PCIE risers (usually via a sata adapter). You can buy a cheaper, less efficient PSU for this since it will not have a very high load on it.

I understood this part, is it possible to like get more powerful server PSU and power up all other things to? Isn't the PICO what does this? Or I'm wrong? If above statement is wrong I found two 550w PSUs I used to power up antminer S1, they will do the mobo and risers job I guess |

I;m on the other side of the globe, anyway thanks for your time, I'll do research and find a better option for 3+ GPU rigs. 95% of my rigs are with only 3 GPUs and 750W Zalmans are dong their job quite well, that's why I was asking. |

@ cheet - I don't use IBM 4KW for server cabinets, only for open air rigs as they do take a lot of space
Ok I see this now. Well, guess I will be sticking with the open-air design. I'm pretty sure I can still make it work, just need to control hot air closely. I have a strategy |
