I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.
What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?
I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.
If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.
We can not say for now that other altcoins has a good future, well all altcoin came from below same sa etheruim and others but look at them now, we are having faith on them for the future, all altcoins has possibility to grow, and be a great coins.

Most alts will not even exist after an year, and i am talking about the ones that are in the top 100 at coinmarketcap today! But as far as ETH is concerned, till some other alts such as tezos prove their worth in smart contracts, eth is here to stay.

Bitcoin will survive , and ether will also. some altcoins seem to become stable too. primarily those ones which are based on medicine and science projects.

We have not yet seen government clamp down on cryptos in any real way thus far. Knowing how gov't love to control things, I'm thinking anonymity will be very important to the surviving Alt-coins.

For now there is decent money in mining and trading. The only safe investment is in bitcoin. Any other cypto is purely a gamble. You do not truly know if there is another hidden premne and someone is just waiting to dump

I think btc, ether, and some chosen coins, which have high potential will be still existing in future. Most of the small tokens will disappear. The problem is to identify the one small token, which will be the next btc in percentage rising, this is what we all looking for.

I think altcoins really has future. As what you have said, it proved it for how many years already so I think it is for long term as it goes popular worldwide day by day. I don't see any problem yet about altcoins. Maybe it can be improve more next time. It will be in the process.

Looking at where ethereum has been now, from a track of 12 months, ethereum has x100 of its value while bitcoin only have x4. And ethereum is not just the only project. There are others like neo and omg which also outperform bitcoin. However, not every project has been smooth sailing like neo. It has been low on price until the recent shot up from $6 to $60. So it is still possible that another project will be the next star.

Look for coins that are solving a new problem or coins that are going to improve on the the tech of a previous altcoin in their industry. Lots of success to be found in altcoins if you research them. You can't be bullish on just BTC, ETH, and LTC lol. If you're bullish on those then you have to be bullish on blockchain technology as a whole, and blockchain = altcoins too.

Are we talking about 10-20 years or 3-5 years? cryptocurrencies will exist for sure.. and we will see a couple of the existing currencies in the future and some completely new, much better and much perfect and improved ones

Nobody can really say what will happen in future. all we are giving are mere speculations based on daily cryptocurrency market. I remember in 2010 when my friend was telling me about bitcoin that it is electronic money which i can mine. i wasnt pay attention because i didnt value it. in 2013 when i had known well about ecurrencies including bitcoin i started collecting them but i later sold them. I am still regretting up to this moment that i didnt keep these coin because if I have done that i will be millionaire by now. the same thing apply to other altcoin too. you never can tell what will happen in years to comes ETH, LTC, WAVES, DASH, MONERO have great prospect

I think undoubtedly altcoins do have a future, especially the ones which are trying to do something unique or improve functionality and privacy.
Personally, privacy based altcoins I feel will do the best in the long run, especially if the clampdown on cryptocurrencies does occur. Not all will survive but you've obviously got Monero, PIVX doing some exciting things, NAV is one to watch for the future potentially and then there's Verge. I'm sure there's a lot more and there will be more that improve on these coins further.
Competition is good though and I think the flaws in Bitcoin have been highlighted loads of times already. Once the masses start realising just what other coins can do, I think Bitcoin may lose its crown one day but it will always be up there.

We can really assume such thing because we do know that technology do really evolve as the year passed which means possibilities on seeing new and improved altcoins or even on bitcoin would really be seen but thinking off we cant be sure if those long years if altcoins would still exist or not or even crpyto is still there or complete dead and seeing another trend.

the alt scene is full of scams and projects that are pure gamble and pure pure pump and dump, that's it, nothing more. That's what gives alts a bad reputation, just as how the black markets gave bad reputation to bitcoin and pornography to the internet in the 90's. But we know the potential and proven uses of bitcoin and that bad reputation is purely a just a fud factor. Alts can create a purely decentralised market with coins like counterparty, bitshares, waves, nxt, and their decentralised exchanges. Ethereum showed us how the token market is an economy that can compete with the stock markets. People will really regret dumping good altcoins at these prices. Lets see how that bitcoin dominance looks at the end of the year.

People were trading goods for goods, then stones for goods and now we are trading paper for goods. And we are also accepting to digital transactions of those paper money. Seems like the next logical step to trade altcoins. We are doing it every day already, just that we use a different system and name for it.

Yes, they just get overshadowed by the big one (bitcoin), but they do have a future. Eth, Xrp, Dash etc. all have their own thing going on. I see a future with tens of thousands of alts, and a few dozen big ones, and a few king coins xD
