We cannot tell if how long bitcoin can last because the future is not predictable and there is a lot of things that can happen in bitcoin so if you are going to imagine the future of the lifespan of bitcoin then it is nearly impossible for a person to predict.

Bitcoin will continue to exist as long as there are computers connecting to each other over the internet. Simple as it sounds.
While that is true if bitcoin was only used by two people that exchanged bitcoin among them, bitcoin will still technically exists and be used but at that point bitcoin will be useless and irrelevant and I think that is not something that anyone in the forum wants, so it is not only a matter of survival it is a matter of bitcoin being useful for the people and I do not see a reason why bitcoin will stop doing exactly that especially now that segwit has been activated.
You are very right. Bitcoin will definitely exist technically even if only two people just use it between each other. We don’t have to think on the existence, it will last for a long time as we can analyze it now. The question must be the usefulness of bitcoin in a layman life, that matters I suppose.

As of right now, the bitcoin price is expected to keep going up in the next 20 years. But can it last that long? I believe it's possible. But can't it crash at a random time? Like the price going down hard.
No one really knows. There are speculations that it will last for 20 more years. And I would say that it will be possible based on the statistics of Bitcoin's market value and demand. It is continuously increasing as of this moment. And like other users, I am also expecting for more from Bitcoin.

Yes, the question must be how functional it will be for peer to peer transfers. Bitcoin can exists for centuries, and this doesn't make sense alone. We need it to be a groundbreaking money transfer system.

Bitcoin can last forever unless a new coin overtake bitcoin or the internet shuts down. Bitcoin needs the internet, crypto transparency to exist. Until these will exist I don't see any reasons why it should go away.

As I can see bitcoin always increase all the time ( from 2010 until 2017 ) and some big company such like microsoft also accept ETH for example which mean more country aware and start trusting bitcoin. If this keep continue, it's not difficult for bitcoin to keep exist for longer period ,

As long as there are users, Bitcoin will continue to exist. Even if major pools decide to stop mining Bitcoin, users could take the lead and start mining it, and mining would be much more decentralized in the hands of many users.
Yes, how long bitcoin will last is determined by we the community, though it’s not just the community, but including the devs. We’ve got a long way to go with bitcoin, and a lot of success to achieve. Bitcoin is never ending until we say it’s over.

No person can say when will a thing would end or previous. Identical with bitcoin. It is extremely unpredictable and quite difficult to conclude. Right after the fork bitcoin is genuinely doing nicely. And many speculates that bitcoin would rise greater. Possibly time will come that the price would decrease but its part of the line. So let's take pleasure in every thing that bitcoin is supplying appropriate now.

I don't see why people keep asking this question. Bitcoin is not a vulnerable system, so it shall live forever as long as we have internet connections alive!

That much easy to understand this, this is not a topic to make speculation. We can never know this.

100% this. Nobody knows. There are a lot of BTC speakers in conferences that appear to be smart and all knowing but really they dont have any idea what they are talking about. If you ask each and one of them how long it could last, you will get a different answer from each of them. Their answers could also change after some time too as BTC develops.

In my view, bitcoin will greatly change as it is adopted.  Payment systems have always had to adapt to changes in the environment they are used in.  Checks used to be cleared by transportation through trains and automobiles.  Today its all done via imaging.  Credit cards, which started out as metal plates, were once deposited like checks with a manual imprint of the embossed numbers.  Along came electronic terminals that changed the game.

PayPal was, and is, a game changer that got people to hand over their financial details to a trusted website so that they could purchase from less trusted places -- often people, on eBay.

Bitcoin needs wider acceptance, and it will get there.  There will be a "tipping point" of mainstream acceptance and then all the major online merchants will rush to implement BTC payments on their platforms.  High speed transactions are a must.  Merchant costs / transaction fees in line with credit card payments are a must.  If SegWit doesn't get BTC there, other innovations will come along and make that happen.

If bitcoin keeps innovating to address challenges, expand its capabilities, and promote ever wider usage, it could "last" as long as any form of currency.  In fact, because it is not tied to any particular country, culture, or language, it could last longer than those that are.  Silver and gold have been used as a store of value for thousands of years.  Bitcoin (though from a technical perspective it will likely look very different than what it is now) could last just as long.

Dream it. Plan it. Build it.

The life of bitcoin is not dependable to the internet because internet will stay forever but bitcoin will not be like that because we have so many factors to base like the difficulty of mining of bitcoin which can make the life of bitcoin in danger because if the mining difficulty is very high then it will make for the small miners not profitable and they will leave bitcoin.

Based on what I'm seeing now, bitcoin can possibly be invulnerable and stay as a part of everyone's living. It is expected that sooner or later bitcoin will be used by almost everyone around the world because the influence of it is growing more and more as time passes by. Many are attracted to it because of it's high value which may be a factor why it will last longer than you are expecting due to the user's growth.

The bitcoin's existance is still unpredictable now but still if you are going to base it on what you are witnessing right now. You can conclude that bitcoin may really be the future cryptocurrency for all wherein it can be used by everyone anywhere, there are no limitations and the access is made easier than ever. Knowing that it is through internet connection, there could really be a lot of things to happen in the future due to innovations.

It's still unpredictable but if people will still continue to use bitcoin then bitcoin will have a good future and may still be existing for the years to come. As we can observe now, bitcoin still continues to attract attention of the investors that's why the recent announcement of China banning ICOs did affect the price of it but then we can see that it reverse and continues to go up. There are others who said that the downtrend is not yet finish and will continue in the coming days which may happen and all we can do is to observe the market and make necessary actions in case it is showing signs of going down again.

Yes, I hardly think of a time when we’ll see that there exists no more Crypto currency especially Bitcoin. I believe it will last as long as you can even think of. It will for sure rule the world one day. It will be really hard to see the end of an era of Bitcoin. I think it will take centuries to happen.

There is a huge reason why human beings are normally not granted an ability to foresee the long term...daily life could be distinct if we know what can occur soon and into the considerably potential and we will be living in concern and not genuinely get pleasure from daily life. Permit us go away that prediction work to the individuals who are gifted sufficient by the divine power to see the potential. As to Bitcoin and any digital coin for that matter, we know the power of the industry...of the law of offer and demand from customers. For as prolonged as there is a demand then perhaps Bitcoin can continue to exist or else it would just die a normal demise.

Satoshi himself said that Bitcoin will either work, or it won't. There would either be massive transactions in the next decades, or there would be zero. It seems like Bitcoin is quite polarizing. If it works, it works and if it doesn't it doesn't. It is sort of like a social experiment, but much more than that because there is legitimate new revolutionary technology in the blockchain (which Bitcoin is based on).

Simple. Forever. Bitcoin could last until the end of Humanity. It is setup to do this. It is just like physical gold, only virtual and I am sure people agree you cannot destroy all of the physical gold on Earth, and just the same we cannot destroy all of the Bitcoins. Technically, we could do both, but in reality it won't happen (obviously).
