Why people are holding Bitcoin?

While we are in the mass adoption phase now, we have not yet reached the potential of bitcoin. While bitcoin is not the latest technology and many great projects are coming on the blockchain, like faster transaction, smart contracts, decentralized storage etc. whatever. Bitcoin is the gateway from fiat currency to crypto. It's only a few cryptocurrencies trading for fiat directly, while with bitcoin you can buy anything, it has value because almost anyone will take it as a payment option now on any place in the world. There's yet a long way to go for the bitcoin in the world, so you only lose when you sell

People hold bitcoin with the expectation of rise in the price/cost of it thereby with the sole purpose of gaining financially.  In the recent past i.e. in the year 2017 the value of bitcoin has risen very high and most of the people expect the same in the years to come.  My views are also the same that the value of the bitcoin will further rise but still there may be some negative results as market trends; investors' faith ; rise/fall in it's demand are certain factors which are also the deciding factors of  rise or fall in the value of bitcoin.  But people are still bullish with the hope that upward journey in the value of the coin will continue in the year to come i.e. in the year 2018 and they will earn more profit from it this is the reason they are holding it.

The more people hold bitcoin, the more price rise we can have. When the new money enters to the markets, that money will only be able to buy the coins which are available on the exchanges.

Well if you are not patient enough, you might regret it in the end. Patience is the most important characteristics a trader must have also knowledge and skill. And yeah I agree that holding bitcoin is the best way of making a profit but the people are depending on it very bad, very bad that they are enjoying the price pumps but they are not using that profit but just hold it and just be happy with the pumps.
