it seems like it will be useful in the future. On top of this, most other people seem to feel the same, so the value (hopefully) will keep going up.

People are holding bitcoin for there future purpose. Bitcoin changes the crypto currency world. The demand of bitcoin is increasing day by day . So the price of bitcoin is too much high. People are expecting that price of it will increase more in the future.

May be people are holding bitcoin for there future purpose, but there are some other reason why people are holding its bitcoin. By because of the unstable price of bitcoin, that sometimes it was rise and going down of its value, so people are holding there bitcoin and trying to wait the time that the price of bitcoin is too high. We all know that there is hard fork and SegWit2x coming, so some people are not sure what will happen exactly. But we are all sure in one thing, and that is that price of Bitcoin will go up after those events. Something similar happened on 1st of August, and a lot of people made a mistake by selling their Bitcoins. I guess that they have learned lesson, so that is why they are holding their Bitcoins now. Its all about profit, and sometime we need to do some thing that is uncertain for bigger gain.
