Because people know that it is a modern digital currency and it is going to reach  sky in coming future....if they invest now they will get double triples of it in future ...which is why everybody wants to hold bitcoin.

That will take some serious time. I think that the price will be unstable for an extrem long period of time lying ahead. Basically I can't imagine the price at a stable level in the next 5 years. There is still a long way up to the million.

The good reason is that bitcoin price is indefinite, sometimes it pumps and  sometimes it pumps down but the most things happen to btc is that it keeps moving up and break its record over and over again, While the time is running the value also keeps pumping.

 Same reason as others, waiting for the right time and that will be when the price of the bitcoin is at its highest. Another reason is that holding it alone is already a profit, as bitcoin grows, the investment they have grows earning profit.

They're waiting for the right time to sell their bitcoins. Maybe the price now is to low to sell their bitcoins and selling it now would be a loss on their side. So holding until the price is right is only logical. Another reason is that I think they don't have any reason to sell these bitcoins. They don't have a need to sell bitcoins.

This is about "perception". Now, most of the people perceive that BTC is valuable and will be more valuable in the near future. If something happens to change this perception, then they will want to sell their BTC, which means the price will drop.

Because bircoin value is suprisingly got so bigger. So, I see that people hold bitcoin for a reason that it will grow bigger and bigger in the near future. Even I myself has a pretty strong feeling that it will grow bigger, I am also planning on holding bitcoin for a hope that it will bring me to the status of life like rich people. By the idea of holding this, you are just like investing money to some institution or organization that they will help you make your money grow bigger but the thing you are investing with this is your time, the you are lending to hold it and to save it for your future even though you are in a state of itchying to go and  cash out  for you to buy or to do something. So all in all, the primary reason why people hold bitcoin is the hope that it will continuesly grow bigger and reach their expectation.

I can see what you mean "in this critical situation" obviously referring to August 1st and everything that goes with it, I myself have considered moving over to litecoin to ride the uncertainty at that time but i am now thinking that nothing major will happen as long as you own your bitcoin as in you have your keys, there might be a fluctuation in the price but i can't see it being anything major.

People are holding bitcoin until now even in the face of the price falling down because this is temporary. The split is also coming our way and yet people are still holding on to their bitcoins.

All because the general public who are holding some bitcoin are positive that after this storm of price dipping, bitcoin will recover and end this year with an increase in price. The price increase after this decrease moment is bigger.

All peolpe are holding bitcoin to generate some income with. Some of them generate income from the holding of the bitcoin only becasue the value of the bitcoin is raised and the amount they invest in bitcoin also raised. Others make investment while holding the bitcoin. IN another sense they invest bitcoinfor their project which are in the hands of those people. In this way they generate a high income form the bitcoin. BUT THE MAIN REASON OF THE HOLDING OF BITCOIN IS TO GENERATE INCOME FROM IT.
