The way @Blockstream is promoting LN use on mainnet is very irresponsible. People will lose money and LN reputation will be damaged. A few weeks ago, I received a disgusting and accusatory email out of nowhere from someone very high up their chain of command. Terrible company.

To be fair the current tools to use lightning on mainnet are not for  new users and out of their technical ability

If you are capable of installing the dependencies, building the source code and navigating the command line then you are well above what's needed to understand the risks of running the beta software

The user friendly pre compiled GUI apps etc are locked to testnet for a reason.

Once these reach a stable state only then will they will be released for mainnet use

Korean exchange KuCoin announce BCH trading pairs.  Kiss
https://kucoin.com/

This is good news, I opened a Kucoin account a good while back, it's one of the better exchanges, and have a few coins there. Looks like I'm going to add another (Bitcoin Cash) to my collection.

This coin like all other altcoins did not survive the collapse of the BTC and has already fallen in price by half. I guess BCC will recover faster after the fall than other coins. Creator BCC too caring about his project and will not allow a long fall.
I hope you know what you're talking about?

I once thought Kucoin from a Chinese exchange.
Anyway it works fine. It is the first exchange to list SelfKey, which is of great potential.

Just a thought...

A few yrs from now..when the coinmarketcap is sitting at lets say $5trill...
There will be the usual crypto, profit taking, fud, full retrace of about 50%

$2.5 trill could easily be wiped out in a day lol....

Most will be losing their minds...but for us guys....
its just another day at the office  Cheesy

hmmm lets see...
Obs there are many variables to consider...and this is very rough guess work.

Lets say we at $500bill right now...$2000 per BCH

If market positions were to remain roughly the same as today...
x10 from here takes us to at least $20k per BCH at a $5trill cap...
(imo thats the worst case scenario for BCH)

But when BCH becomes #1 it could be around x5 more on top of the $20k...taking it to around $100k+ a coin, quite easily.

If it can hold $500bill today, I'd be optimistic about our near future.

I was led to believe by r/bitcoin that BCH was a huge scam, and shouldn't be trusted. Today I found out why it is better.

Yes but from the Bitcoin abc lead developer why is he adding this to Bitcoin core ?

Why is the lead BitcoinABC developer adding notes saying Bitcoin cash is a scam and not to be confused with Bitcoin ?

https://medium.com/@jonaldfyookball/bitcoin-cash-is-terrifying-f1a8cc4d536?q=1
Then, in a goofishly pathetic (and predictable) attempt to discredit Bitcoin Cash, no less than 7 pre-certified Core trolls came out of nowhere to join the discussion, all postulating the risk of losing coins on the Electron Cash wallet.
It gets worse:
These trolls actually created an entire fake Github repo, tried to claim that it was mine and that it was untrustworthy because it couldn’t be compiled.
I complained to Github about their fake repo, they retaliated and got my (real) repo flagged! It was down over the weekend while Github investigated. Thankfully, both the website and the Github repository are now back online.

The whole series of events goes beyond trolling and rhetoric. It was a malicious attack. This is just one example of the lengths they will go to, and the absurdities they will engage in.

Tek , this is what happened to the Bitcoin abc lead developer aswell.
hmmm come to think about it...you were quite quick to point out the changes on the git...
do you always log in daily or was it coincidence you checked around the same time and made us aware of what you just saw?
any chance you could link us to your source?

Bitcoin cash is still very technical. This price adjustment still keeps a relatively high price. The future development is worth your attention. Wink

Lightning Charge Powers Developers & Blockstream Store

Jan 16, 2018 by Christian Decker, Ph.D. Rusty Russell

With the release of the 1.0 spec for Lightning and the verification of interoperability among the three Lightning teams, the Lightning Network is racing forward. Bitcoin users are now able to take advantage of instant bitcoin transactions, improved scalability, and lower fees—enabling many new use cases, such as micropayments. In addition, like Bitcoin itself, the Lightning Network is decentralized: no online payment center or credit card company is required to authorize transactions or to hold funds. Instead, users directly connect to the Lightning Network by creating multiple payment channels of their choice, without relying on a centralized third party.

Blockstream’s implementation of the Lightning spec, c-lightning, focuses on the needs of the developers who will be creating Lightning-powered Bitcoin applications for these users. Though c-lightning is a low-level technology designed to implement the Lightning spec without added complexity, the true power of such an implementation can be unlocked by developer tools. We’ve seen the hard work required to integrate with credit card companies and with existing online payment systems, and we want to make it easier than ever to accept payments through Lightning.

To meet this need, we’re delighted to introduce Lightning Charge to the Elements Project. This complementary package for c-lightning, designed by independent developer Nadav Ivgi working with Blockstream, makes it simple to build apps on top of Lightning.

Lightning Charge is a micropayment processing system written in node.js. It exposes the functionality of c-lightning through its REST API, which can be accessed through JavaScript and PHP libraries, both of which have also been released through the Elements Project. Web developers will be able to work with c-lightning through their normal programming techniques, and they’ll also get expanded functionality such as currency conversion, invoice metadata, streaming payment updates, and webhooks. Together, these additions make it easy for developers to use c-lightning to create their own, independent web-payment infrastructures.

And why are you posting Blockstream/Lightning FUD in the Bcash (LOL) thread?  Bcash (LOL) doesn't even have Lightning because it still hasn't fixed transaction malleability.

Is your motivation just sour grapes?

Yes, it's nice indeed, however, there's double bottom at ~$430bln now, so to be safe the markets would need to rise to $650bln, and then not retrace below that double bottom, or even near there. This is the theory of course, and although I personally don't like technical analysis, majority of traders use it unfortunately  Sad

Prob because for weeks i have been asking segwetters about a thread dedicated to segwit/lightning on bitcointalk.
I cant find any big active thread , with a regular large community or core devs teaching anyone here,
The segwetters should be trying to help people adopt this wonderful stuff they claim will work and people will use.
The way segwetters speak , you would expect a thriving community, lots of users, lots of views and replies... where is it m8?

Instead segwetters just spend their time coming here, talk trash and try and tell bitcoin cashers about segwet and lightning developments.  Huh Cheesy
(kinda like what you just did) LOL  Wink  Kiss
