You want a system with Intel ME crippled or disabled. If you are comfortable with a ROM flasher and doing some micro-soldering, you can use ME cleaner: https://github.com/corna/me_cleanerMy money is on hardware vendors who claim to burn a fuse on the processor that powers ME, ie. system76 / Purism. Dell had a system listed with ME disabled but I wouldn't trust it. Plenty of rumors about low-level USB exploits as well. |

Looks like a good read. Could be very true every G8 country is spying on their citizens. Backdoors have been build into Intel CPUs and Chipsets for a while. The ME route is an additional measure. EFI firmware is another. Having worked at Apple for many years, we all knew about the exploits to enable cameras, microphones, and peripherals (USB memory sticks and the like). USB keys are another major infection vector as the USB controllers get plenty of MIC attention. Orwell was a blueprint not fiction. Welcome to Orwell's future. |
