According to the site itself (bottom right hand screen); they will be accepting Visa, MasterCard and Paypal. I saw them mention Bitcoins as well somewhere I think. Visa and MasterCard payments made direct (not through a third party like Paypal or Amazon) give you the best security. Credit card, not debit card. Given the preference over direct card payment and Paypal, credit card is better as Visa/Mastercards own buyer protection lasts longer and they assume the risk. If you pay via Paypal unfortunately the card protection is negated by Paypal's own protection. Paypal's protection is max 45 days, whereas Visa and Mastercard both give a full 120 days after the proposed date of delivery to complain and apparently 6 years buyer protection. This was covered yesterday in either this, or the other KnC thread. I added some links explaining it early afternoon after someone else had mentioned it. |

If I am not mistaken the lifetime BTC foundation donation is BTC200 so, just a little bit on the expensive side for the privilege of getting some forum-swag |

That means not, that the shops accepts CC directly. Actually until a couple of weeks back there was a whole variety of card payment logos, now there is just Visa and MasterCard on site. From yesterday's discussion (only a page or two back), thanks to 'Retro 72' who divulged the following; Visa/MasterCard stipulate you have upto 120 days after agreed delivery date to initiate a complaint. The card companies assume the risk in this case. Not necessarily, probably means they are changing payment methods. Just Visa and MasterCard (Credit) should be the preferred payment methods for safe purchases as they have the greatest buyer protection and assume the risk themselves instead of placing the buyer or the seller in jeopardy... Can't rem if I saw Discover and Amex listed before, but the both charge a lot more fee wise, especially American Express, around double, which is why retailers hate them. For a hosting company, you'd think they knew how to make a professional website.
Meh, they've had a site live for a few weeks for traffic generation/recognition amd as a voicebox for official announcements. They're not taking payments and had no product to show at the beginning, so it's work in progress until they are able and comfortable with their product offering to open the checkout. If you had a staging website outside of public view with such a short timeframe available to generate awareness it would cost them the attention gained. Along with it the hype, speculation and criticism. This way they have been able to respond, adapt and evolve and generate interest whilst appeasing legitimate criticism as it unfolds. I think it's been logical this route to evolve with the given time available. Above and beyond it's the products themselves, ability to deliver, and the protected payment choices with their given timeframes that matter. |
