Any chance of adding a globalcoin pool? There's 100+Mh/s on the network at the moment and no decent pool around other than p2pool.

For all profitability questions :

Keep in mind that the calculators or the estimation on the stats page are the best possible estimation
it doesn't includes :
  • the difficulty retarget 20 times days
  • the drop of more than 1 ghs on the network after difficulty retarget due to multipool, coinmiddle ... switching to another currency ==> we spend more time at high diff than we spend at low diff
  • the shares lost due to the speed of the generated block (it drop to 20-25 sec per block when multipool and other friends join WDC)
  • Orphan blocks
  • ... insert others think here

Hi

Can someone help me out here ?

I've started mining (WDC) with theblocksfactory using cgminer and a .conf configuration file.

My miner seems to connect ok and I get regular messages like this:

**** Stratum from pool zero detected new block *****

But - my hash rate is always on zero !? (I mean absolute zero - not just a low amount)

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Dui @ 3.16 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GEForce GE 220

I've added the scrypt=true setting to the .conf file but can't think of what else to try.

Any ideas ?

Your GPU is realy to slow to mine on the pool.
You should try a pool with lower diff or buy an ATI GPU like a 7950 or R280.

OK, but why the calculator is always perfectly correct with litecoinpool.org for example (1479Kh/s):

Coinarz (1479Kh/s) :

Difference is < 5%, not 20-25% it's huge !... Huh

So, when coinchoose says profitabiliy LTC +120%, we must read : 95-100% LTC ?

Because litecoin is :
  • 5 times slower ==> less stales,less orphans
  • Diff change 1 time every 4 days so you don't have variation when looking at 24 hours profit comparing to a coin retargeting 20 times per fays

And if you want to now :
in the last 24h the average difficulty of mined block by us is : 34.73
average stale rate is 4 %
Orphan rate is : 2.24 %

And by the way, with 0 or 10 % in fee on coinwarz doesn't change anything on the WDC Coins column

On coinchoose,  look profitablity % Adj Stale, you can see the difference between LTC and WDC

ok, thanks. Maybe hashrates below a certain level just don't register.

I would like to ask miner to add --no-submit-stale to their cgminer command line the next time  you restart your miner

it's just to reduce network and server load

hashrate below a certain level just don't produce a share fast enough :
the miner produce shares for a particular block but if your miner is too slow, we are already at the next block and your miner didn't finished the first share and so the share doesn't count ( the share must be submited before we found the associated block)

Ok, I got a bit further. My miner is now reporting that it's connected and reports a hash rate of about 10 Mh/s. (I didn't realise I needed to drop back to version 3.7.2 to do SCRYPT mining).

Looking at the other hashrates on the pool, it seems reasonable (though at the slower end). But I'm still not registering any activity on the pools stats or on my dashboard. It's still on Zero.

I've had it running for over an hour now.

I use 4 7950 and the best settings so far are :
thread-conccurency 16384
intensity 20
gpu-thread 1

Are you still happy with the above settings for your 7950?

I have 3, Sapphire 7950 reference cards pointed at you, (the last edition of the 4L), and I'm going to try these settings and do some testing.

I'm in the U.S., so, that your server is abroad, I will have a higher rate of stales than most, but I want to get fewer stales at the max hashrate of course.

I have the --no-submit-stale in my command line for all three cards.

Are you overclocking?

yes,
my settings are :

Hi lucazane I just want to make sure we use caution with the HBN pool. I realize it is not your fault, but you are now controlling a very large % of the hash rate. So please be sure you are getting sync checkpoints and relaying to as many peers as possible, just so we don't get into a fork situation.  Everything is working great, just keeping everything as smooth as possible.

Thanks!

maxconnection is 1000
Now 20 peers.

But I don't now how to check if I have the last check point

Just look for ProcessSyncCheckpoint in the debug.log

$ egrep 'ProcessSyncCheckpoint|SetBestChain:' debug.log |tail -2
SetBestChain: new best=00000002755c8f2db42e  height=403402  trust=346301143475
date=12/11/13 22:15:10
ProcessSyncCheckpoint: sync-checkpoint at 00000002755c8f2db42e4730ba45913714e1c0
4cf8d8be7cdcd3ae85a61adf46

Each block is currently getting a checkpoint, for now. If you don't see this, you maybe on the wrong chain(unlikely), or the server is down. In which case I will fix as soon as I can.

BTW you run a very good pool. Up time is great, good support. Thanks so much for your support of HBN. Good luck

I have temporaly put a very high fee(4%) on the HBN pool because we have 80 % of network hashrate and I want to motivate some miners to switch at least sometimes on others pools
