Bitcoin is more or less piece of algorithm which we exchange as currency, asset and much more as you would like to call it. Gambling is different thing and it's not even closer to the word of bitcoin. Bitcoin gambling would be the one which is put into dice games, hi-lo ga es etc where you have to try out your luck with a chance and all that kind of stuff. Those who call it as gambling are the one who don't really understand it. :-)

Bitcoin isn't gambling. Depending how you are spending Bitcoins doesn't make Bitcoin = Gambling. You will be just gambling with Bitcoins, what is different. Bitcoin is just a virtual currency. As currency you choose if you spend it or if you hold.

I beg to disagree with your statement that Bitcoin is not gambling but merely investing your time and money. Investing anything that is valuable like time and money is gambling premised on the solid expectation that what you have poured in will increase in value in no time. Time, of course, does not increase in value but it sure is the best thing to invest in to earn in every business enterprise. It is a luxury that is important to all human race in order to function. It is rare that is denied to many. It is highly measurable as to the quantity but is extensively immeasurable as to the quality. It is by all means subjective. Thus, being valuable, it is a gamble to spend time onto something.

I’ve had quite a few arguments on this subject. On a wide sense, anything that involves risk can be called gambling, but in a more narrow one, which I prefer, gambling involves risking money without making rational assumptions of the likely return you are going to get.

Gambling is not pure luck, as you say, there is mathematical rationality behind it. Anyway, whenever I discuss on the subject, people tend to have preconceptions on the subject and they are not open to change the view after rational debate.

I heard this from a arab , when I was in vacation , I told him about BTC when he asked me what I do for a living...
I said to him, he should be smart and invest in some BTC, the new age money.
He asked me if it is not gambling, because it sounds a lot like the stock exchange..
