Well, the hard forks are not just to divide us but to develop the tech of blockchain. It might not be clear how they are using the trick to do that but why are you worried if the tricks working just fine. With each dividend they are also providing us the equal amount of coins which can be later traded for our own profits. I don't see any problem there and we can just keep the fork smooth with that thing. Also, you get more opportunities to use different coins securely and with minimal fees applicable. It's all about how we take the forks and all the major changes there in.

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

I see a lot of optimism about bitcoin, which is understandable seeing the price recently.
Oh come on we've always been optimistic. I've been around since 2015 when the price went totally down and everyone started losing hope in btc.
Guess how much was one bitcoin for at that time ?
It was for $270 !
I guess that's enough optimism for me really  Wink

-Block size. Which makes the delay and fees of transaction rise very fast. Smaller transactions are more and more difficult to make.
This should be solved with time.

Quote
-The centralization of the market. China got low cost electricity, which make them by far the most bitcoin mining capable.
What ? There's difference between the bitcoin "market" which is exchanges, trades etc. And mining power.
The "market" isn't centralized in China at all. For example, poloniex is US-based. Bitfinex is in Honk Kong and others.

Regarding the mining power, it's debatable. But I can for sure say that this is not nice as it's supposed to be not centralized. But guess what , the whole world lives off China. All of our food, clothes etc are made there. It's just because of their low price electricity that mining farms are setup there.

Quote
Another thing: The Hard forks that are oddly getting much more frequent than before. (BCH, BTG, Segwitx2 etc...) It almost looks like "attacks" in order to divide us. Now called "airdrops" by the community. Even though they're supposed to solve some of the problems.
You were there when BCH split happened and you saw what happened after it to the price. You decide if these hard forks are actually of any danger or are worth getting called "attacks"

All in all, this makes me really worried about btc future. I've been a strong holder since 2014, and I made quite a lot of money with bitcoins, but I begin to doubt now, even though the price is crushing ATM. Please help me keeping faith. Or should I switch to another currency ? Really thinking about ETH recently.

You've been holding since 2014  Shocked Mate you totally aren't the one who should ask or make such threads as you made quite a lot out of it.
Switching to ETH ? No thank you. There's no much action over there. It's kinda constant.

Plus even if btc price goes down (which in my own opinion will happen after the BTG fork) what did you lose ? Nothing really nothing.
You've been through times when the price was much worse and you know what happens later, it skyrockets.

Later can range from days to months. It doesn't matter.

I see a lot of optimism about bitcoin, which is understandable seeing the price recently.
But I have to admit I'm a little worried about the long term future of btc.
The major problems if the currency still haven't been dealt with. I see 2 major ones:

-Block size. Which makes the delay and fees of transaction rise very fast. Smaller transactions are more and more difficult to make.
-The centralization of the market. China got low cost electricity, which make them by far the most bitcoin mining capable.
-And maybe others that I'm not aware of.

Another thing: The Hard forks that are oddly getting much more frequent than before. (BCH, BTG, Segwitx2 etc...) It almost looks like "attacks" in order to divide us. Now called "airdrops" by the community. Even though they're supposed to solve some of the problems.

Your concern are not even something that I see as challenges because those things are not just happening today. We have gone by the era of high fees when the noise was all over the place. We have also seen a situation of fork and nothing significant didn't happen rather bitcoin came out strong. What you should be concerned about are the challenges we have not seen yet which I sum up on verification.

Why worrying about it's future? We can't predict it's future mate. The future of bitcoin is uncertain. Just enjoy them while it's still exist. Don't bother worry about what will happen to bitcoin in the future. That's why theres a hardfork. Developers will fix and add what factors might be missing in able to develop bitcoin. There's always a way. Even if bitcoin die, people can still be able to create and develop another one over time. Bitcoin is just on it's beginning. Just buy as much as you can.

Bitcoin is unstoppable. The only thing that could kill Bitcoin is to ban this technology globally or shut the internet forever(which is impossible). Anyway, you're wrong about China. Bitcoin can stand alone without China. Japan can take over. Japan right now is focusing on mining. So don't worry.
No one know that how bitcoin system is managed and who are behind the system nor someone predict about bitcoin future. All these speculation are survive in the circumstances and that’s why people are so worried. If we logically examine bitcoin in respect of his still existing in the market so we can easily find out that bitcoin is not fake and it has a bright and forever future because bitcoin is going successfully in the right path for the last 8 years and people trust on bitcoin. Hopefully bitcoin would be alive in future.

There isn't much to worry about at the moment as the demand is high!
No other crypto currency is getting anywhere near bitcoin.
I would say it will be safe for at least another 5 years.

No need to worry. Bitcoin has proven its worth for more than seven years. It had ivercome lots of problems and difficulties. Its been through a lot eversince it started but look at it now, getting stronger and stronger as time goes by. Whatever problem Bitcoin will face, I'm sure that it can overcome it. Trust your investments. Have high hopes in Bitcoin. Smiley

There's really nothing to worry about bitcoin because it will surely survived in every reason. Bitcoin are now more popular everyday and we should not worried about the future because this is really our future and we should be feel more secure if you really hold your bitcoin because it will help us to become more successful in the future.

Behold there buddy, we must put our trust in the developers but as of now, it is true that we need to worry on what will be the outcome on the fork on
November and how will the things will go after the November fork. The transaction's speed is still a pending concern and you should be hopeful on this because this concern has always been followed up every  damn time. China has nothing to do with bitcoin, legalizations, regulations, ICOs .. yeah they certainly have an effect on bitcoin but still it is the community who supports bitcoin to stay up to this moment.

I am also a bit worried about bitcoin but I know that in a short time it will recover because there are too many people who are supporting and helping it to rise. Regarding to the hardfork, I think it will be very positive for bitcoin since we all are going to receive those free coins once that it is done.
And I even think that the price will go up but everything depends on the news we receive from other countries about bitcoin.

As you have said, short term we may tend to be worried, but if you are here for the long haul, then there's nothing to worry about. I know that there is a lot of split and fork down the line, but for me its part of the improvement and we can't say that it will cause major disruption in the price, on the contrary it may bring more good in the future.

This time that I fear is not the possibility of bitcoin price in the future because of course it will be guaranteed with users who will keep coming and make the demand to go up. which I'm afraid of now is transaction fee and transaction speed. imagine the higher the bitcoin price the more expensive the transaction fee in bitcoin. I'm just afraid the user does not make a transaction anymore because of the high fee?

If any body is worried about btc future better than now then he is thinking good because btc has bright future and it will give huge return to the all holder of bitcoin.Buying and holding of btc is increasing day by day.People are buying huge quantity of btc for long time holding.Btc is master coin of all altcoin not an ordinary coin as any altcoin.I always believe in the bitcoin from last 4 years and i am getting good profit every years.
Yes,there is up and down for every thing and every person in their life,so worry will not help to you and remove all negativity from your mind and think always positive. And always think a big for future like bitcoin.
My worry about bitcoin is the up and down of prices. And when you are in a signature campaign in bitcoin the possibility to banned and when it comes you have no profit for it.

I don't understand why you are afraid. The higher the price of bitcoin the higher the price of the transaction, it is but a percentage fee per transaction is reduced or remains at the same level. When it comes to big amounts, the fee is not large. The problem is only in small transactions. It does not develop trade. Perhaps segwit 2 will solve this problem?

I do not think with worries about my btc because I am also a bitcoin holder for 3 years so I am making a lot of profit from bitcoin, so if you are not sure with your heart you can sell all bitcoin and you no longer profit from bitcoin. , bitcoin I think it's very strong for the future because we know most countries have many bitcoin holders and the growing popularity of bitcoin will be the future of bitcoin technology that is getting stronger and the future going forward will be softer in the future. .

What I'm worried about is that when the world goes to war or the economy becomes chaotic it is likely that bitcoin is not desirable or declining because people are more likely to withdraw their money

The future does look good for bitcoin but also anything can happen, I would definitely suggest investing some into a few other coins to diversify and make sure that you have the best chance of making some return, putting all your eggs into the one basket could prove troublesome.

I don't think it's necessary to worry too much. Mainly depends on the number of people to use. Look at this point. None of the others can compare with BTC. So I think the future of BTC must be good
good point. Totally agree with you Smiley are you investing your money?

The optimism from the recent price surge is understandable. I think you worry your self unnecessarily, what will be will be, nothing is forever, Its just not possible, there may be a time when bitcoin isn't relevant anymore. Go with the flow OP, and enjoy the ride.
It may happen but it is not going to happen anytime soon, bitcoin is going to be around for a very long time if you look at the history of currencies once a currency becomes dominant a lot of time passes before another currency comes and replace it, if bitcoin becomes big enough to be adopted globally I would say that bitcoin could last at least 100 years.
