Any idea whats going on?
Yes, this may be a false positive of our DDoS protection system. I'm working on this, sorry for the inconvenience.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

server down completely now? I restarted GUIminer after I posted yesturday and it was connecting. Now I wake up and it says in the log it cant connect to the server. I mined all night for nothing? Should I not being using the server in GUIminer since you changed something?

If it was working at night then you will get your rewards.
As I said earlier, some connection issues may be experienced due to antiddos protection.

At this time we are under a DDoS attack and pool's hashrate is reduced.
The issue with slow confirmation will be fixed soon, sorry for the delays. Any other pool/miner can confirm those transactions too, but most of them are confirmed by our pool.

Yes, this is caused by our ddos-protection. It should be cleared after some time.

With asic tremendous speed coming out ... I assume most PPS pools will die?

Will deepbit still offer PPS once asic arrives?

We still have many months until some fast ASICs will arrive. And we don't know how fast they will be.

Why do you think that most PPS pools will die ?

Just some things I have heard from other people.  And we pretty much do know how fast they will be.  BFL told us.

I am just curious what will happen to GPU mining when asic is out.

If you're new to mining and are on a proportional payout at DeepBit, you may be affected by payout variance, especially of you have a low hashrate. The answer to your variance problems is here!

DeepBit Miners Earnings Insurance bonds.

If you mine here proportionally and invest in these bonds, I pay you if the pool has bad luck. The bonds work just like PPS only at a 1.5 to 1.8% fee.

Please PM me or post to the MEI.DEEPBIT.A thread for more information

Interesting.  So this could save GPU miners?

This could save any miner experiencing variance. If you're earnings are close to your costs (as will be the case for gpu miners) then this will help ensure you remain profitable in the shorter term, not just long term.

It would also be beneficial for ASIC miners, but the earnings compared to ongoing costs are lower so they could swallow a bit more variance before it becomes a problem. But the main benefit will be to those who need to spend earnings in the short term.
