hello all

i'v tested 32 core instance (2xXeon CPU E5-2690 v2 @ 3.00GHz), and the results made me to register the forum and ask questions... =)
i use tandyuk miner on ubuntu, simply 'git' it and 'make'. start miner with default params (user&pass), nothing else.. in program i changed Primorial Multiplier -> 61 & Sieve Size -> 150000.
two hours of work:

Number of mining threads (-t): 32
Sieve Size (-s): 1500000
Sieve Percentage (-d): 10
Round Sieve Percentage (-r): 70
Prime Limit (-primes): 1000000
Primorial Multiplier (-m): 61
L1CacheElements (-c): 256000
Chain Length Target (-target): 9
BiTwin Length Target (-bttarget): 10
Sieve Extensions (-se): 7
Total Runtime: 0 Days, 1 Hours, 58 minutes, 45 seconds
Total Share Value submitted to the Pool: 4.30000019

what i do wrong? it seems, that results should be much better...
does anybody can explain what params to use to improve chain/hr? may be somebody used such instance and ready to share optimal settings? Or give a link with explanation of PPS, SPS , ACC etc and what numbers i need to achieve.

Hello Artemka, and welcom to the forums!

At first I'd suggest you to keep the system running for a little more time. To get a usefull impression of what output you will receive you should leave it running at least for one week I'd say. I've started mining about 1 1/2 months ago and noticed an average pattern of Chain lenght decrease by 10 when incresing the length by 1.

This means, If you do ~13 7-chains/h, you will propably make ~1,3 8-chains, 0,13 9-chains, 0,013 10-chains and so on. Based on my calculater and going out from a value of 13 7-chains/h, you would make around ~7,93 Shares/hour on the long term, based on yPool share values.

This again would be ~114 USD or ~84 € per month based on current exchange rates per XPM and weighting the current difficulty of ~10,42.

But that is just some calculation geekism right now.

I really recommend you to leave the system running for some time and recalculate the value again when you know your real output.

as I already stated in my previous post, the production rate of the next higher chain level is reduced by factor 10-15 - based on personal observations. I'd expect you to have an average output rate of ~3 Shares/h => 72 shares/day => ~0,6 XPM per day atm, when running your miner continously.

Tips on tweaking I can't provide, to be honest I wasn't able to establish a general pattern for setting up mining machines til now. Usually the default setup using primoral 61 and Sievesize 1M-1,5M always worked best for me.

Just downloaded jhPrimeminer and also Mine Manager from ypool.net, I can definitely say the setup and ramp-up is very easy.  Im a noob when it comes to this and just using my two home PCs, but so far so good!

I've got primecoind running, but after leaving it running 8 hours, while I was at work, came home and I have no balance. Shouldn't I have some uXPM, at least? but, 0.0000000 is what I have.

Did I configure this wrong? I don't understand, does primecoind create a wallet for me? Where will the coins me saved? Why didn't I produce anything today?

You are solo mining. There won't be any pay unless you hit a block, which these days will take a single computer several years I guess.
You should join a pool if you want to get paid incrementally.

ypool is solid. beeeeer is good for slow miners. candypool didn't pay my shares.

Hey All,

Just a quick update to let you know I've uploaded a new beta version 4.0G to the new mega.co.nz home for my miner (after dropbox suspended my public folder).

This new version should be between 10-15% faster than 4.0F and adds support for the upcoming mining version 2 (-miningVersion argument). In simple terms the new mining version requires the header hash to be a probable prime..

I'll be posting updated source to GitHub later.

If your computer is from the 90's, that might be a good guess. On a current, fast PC it's closer to 3-4 weeks.

Yeah.. lets just say the past few months have been very busy for me personally..

BTW - I've put out another test version since the earlier message.. v4G2.. It should be about 3-5% faster than the plain v4G.. I've changed the default sieve size as an experiment in this build.. and it should not be changed from this default.. so the only tunable args are primorial & prime count..

I have removed the -target and -bttarget options as they no longer provide much benefit.

I have removed the -tune option - see below.

I have updated the way the -d option works. If not specified on the command line a value is chosen to match your selected
   primorial. If a value is specified that value will be used.
   
GENERAL NOTES:
==============
I have completely disabled the auto tuner until further notice. I'm working on a couple of new ideas that will hopefully
   provide a faster and more accurate auto tune for both pool & solo. (The old auto tune was really only applicable to solo).
The latest updates have been largely focused at pool mining performance, so the solo performance may be slightly impacted
   compared to previous builds. I am intending to return to solo performance as soon as the current pool performance issues
   are resolved and the current code has been ported to linux. Currently in my tests this build is 40-50% faster on raw MNPS
   than other pool miners, and pool Val/Hr is almost double compared to previous versions of my V4.0.
   
Simple manual optimization process:
1. *DO NOT* specify a primes count.
2. Start miner with default sieve size and your desired primorial.
3. If solo mining adjust primes up/down by 1000 (left arrow/right arrow) until the ACC value per block
   does not differ by more than 10 when adding/subtracting 1000primes. (As an idea on my dev PC, Primorial 61 uses
   around 48000 primes on solo)
4. Adjust sieve size (-/+) to largest value with a WPS value just exceeding 20. If your PC is slow and you cannot exceed
   20 WPS with a sieve size greater than 500000 then target 10 WPS.
5. Record primes if solo mining (rounded to nearest thousand)
6. Record Sieve size (rounded up to nearest multiple of 16384)
7. Quit miner, adjust launch parameters as needed and restart.

I stopped benchmarking against 3.3 quite early on (4.0d) as other miners had moved on and 3.3 was not as quick.As a result I can't give an accurate answer. based on other miners derived from 3.3 I'd estimate v4.0h to be 50% faster on MNPS. It's hard to know val/hr increase as v4 had been focused more on solo/block solving till recently. I can definitely say it is better all round though.

I'm porting to Linux at the moment and should have a release soon.  Source for v4f is on my github.
