but the internet isn't a place you can trust people with money.
Agree. U can use the same address u used to send bitcoins. Send 0.0001 BTC to 1BCN1ugdKdWd9pQ8Am9hMhtHZfmbXzxE8a and attach ur Nxt account id. This will be publicly visible and will prove u r the legit owner. How are these account id's generated or are these like bankaccounts? Is there a way for me to get one offline and without running closedsource software?

I see three peers, yay! But why are two peers blacklisted?
Coz they were offline or were running old version. Click on purple tray next to a blacklisted peer to connect again.

I downloaded the file to my macbook and what I get is a folder labelled Nxt filled with files ending in ".class" (without quotes). I can't see how I run it. I hope for launch there is a simple way to run it like all the other clients, where you just download the file and double click. Also I presume for launch you will start a new thread? Please make sure the description of Nxt is comprehensive and the client download + install is really simple.

So only a password is needed to access someone's coin? Like, if I put 123 as a passphrase and someone enters 123 as a passphrase, he can use my coins?
Not that I'm going to use 123 as a passphrase but.

U shouldn't unpack Nxt.zip. Use it as a single file. Type "java -cp Nxt.zip Nxt"

yeah, that's not good at all. It's not impossible at all that 2 people choose to use the same password. And i'm not even talking about bruteforcing. With bitcoin or clone, each password try is on only one adress each time. With Nxt, each password try is on the entire network. When Nxt have thousand of users, you just have to do a a big brute force attack and you're sure to get a lot of account. THere is nothing random about human choosing password! Big security flaw imo

It's Brainwallet. The phrase is supposed to be long. If u prefer login+password combo, then use a phrase like Boing7898+123

Users ought to think about security by themselves. Nxt provides very secure way (u can use 100 chars long phrase).

In command prompt. I've never used command prompt, I don't even know how to open it to type things in (on a macbook). There needs to be a way to download the file so it can just be opened with a double click like other software.

So a lot of account will be stolen because Nxt count too much on user side security. Not a good way at all to reach mass market

I still think that brainwallet is much more secure than files on a disk.

I have no idea where Mac's prompt. U can buy a cheap VPS and give me root password, I'll install Nxt client there for free.

In command prompt. I've never used command prompt, I don't even know how to open it to type things in (on a macbook). There needs to be a way to download the file so it can just be opened with a double click like other software. Type 'Terminal' in spotlight. Use cd command to enter the same directory where the Nxt.zip file is stored. Then use the command "java -cp Nxt.zip Nxt" What is your OSX? Do you have latest JRE?
