According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

What do you mean?

I had in my wallet 31003TEK,  before the block 506500   proof

After The first fix in old wallet :
Staked   7934 TEK ,   orphaned 142 TEK

and now I have Total Balance  34868  TEK

Have I lost my money or not?

Well, if I figure it right, it looks like you're to the good about (34,868 - 31,003) 3,865 Tek.  If correct, this would mean you have not lost your money.

Are you implying that there is some kind of chicanery going on in the updated wallet?

No.

Everyone...if TEK uses Novacoin code for staking...which I believe it does.
The Stake % is variable depending upon the coins that are staking on the network.
Thus if there are a lot of coins staking - as there are - the stake percentage will go down. This is AS DESIGNED to fight inflation.

yea - not looking great

installed new wallet - restored wallet.dat - synced wallet

first POS is about half what the one was from last chain, so not only did I lose the extra weight that they had setup, but I didn't even get the 40%.  I got about 30%

my second POS mined payment has been sitting at 0 of 3 confimations for 4 hours?!?  Is that to be expected?

(lemme say again - ugh)

Think of it this way...TEK has become more rare. Hold your TEK, don't sell it for these values.

The price to play has gone up ladies an gentlemen.

awesome thank you maxpower,

regarding stake pos amounts, yes it uses nvcs system and stake payments can go down or up. 40% was already down from the max in the code of 50%.

I thought I had read that that functionality was broken in the past.  If it is working now, will it return to the higher reward (say mid-September) when less people are staking and the PoS difficulty goes back down?  And back up again in 30 days (Spetember 27th) if people are holding and compounding?

Kaspersky Internet Security classifies the fixed win exe as being a Trojan.Win32.IRCbot.eci .
Cannot figure out if this is a heuristic hit or a definitive hit, google won't tell me much about this.
Anybody else's Virus scanners finding anything unusual about the exe or is it deemed safe to run?

Thanks
Mike

PLEASE FIX THE CLIENT SO THAT IT REFUSES CONNECTION WITH OUTDATED CLIENTS !!!!!!
WILL YOU GUYS NEVER LEARN Huh

It's happening. Defaced is adding checkpoints and making that happen soon. It's currently being tested, but he went to bed. We needed to get a stable chain first, as I understand it.

Xhabit's pool is on the correct chain, so it's good to use as a reference for the block height right now. Thundertoe is contacting the people that run the block explorer. http://ppl.port-x.de/mops/public/index.php?page=statistics

Bio I know you have been working very hard to get things resolved.
But without these fail-safe measures its hard to get a stable chain.
So I honestly don't understand why these were not implemented before releasing the fixed wallet.
Currently I would not back up those words we have a "stable" chain.
So I strongly advise anybody NOT to make transfers and wait just like I did until the chain is indeed stable.

I'm kind of stuck in the middle here Tongue

Which is ok, I volunteered. I'm not a good enough programmer to make a decent "hello world" program in anything other than basic, bash, and batch, so I pass on what I've gleaned and hope for the best.

so, the basic story  is that the original error took almost everyone by surprise, because when it happened Tek had been working flawlessly for a long time. Thundertoe didn't know where it went wrong (he's an ok programmer, but not a genius like some of these people), but figured out WHAT went wrong. Tranz figured out where. Defaced, who is friends with Thundertoe and I, and a Tekhead himself, volunteered to help out. We all had a lot of other shit going on at the same time, and frankly, mistakes were made. Along the way, several other people volunteered to help and  review code. Somehow nobody realized the lack of checkpoints and exclusions of old wallets until after the fact. In testing, everything worked fine, but we didn't realize (hindsight being 20/20 it's obvious now) just how much competition there would be for staking. Shit broke.

Y'all have been very patient, and even the angry accusations have come across more like venting. For that, I'm quite proud to be part of this community. We may get a bit contentious, but we get things done. ANY other coin that I've been involved in would have had it's community come unglued over far less. Other communities could learn a lot from this.

All I can say, from my POV, is that while mistakes were made, they are being corrected. Hopefully by tomorrow there will be a checkpointed and exclusionary wallet. And if not, it won't be long. Thanks again, all of you, for making this as easy as it can be given the circumstances. Should such an instance arise again, we'll do better at the fixes. Hopefully the coin will run on rails like it has for a long time now once again. Meanwhile, don't be too eager to sell, and we'll beat this bitch into shape.
Just like you I am not a coder, but browsing through various projects there is a looong list of failed forks and all for the same reasons.
Anyway lets get it right this time and PLEASE lets not rush the new wallet, quality takes time and testing.

Current status as I see it :
TEK is in the process of securing the blockchain and setting up a core of trusted seeders and nodes.
In line with this :

DO NOT USE/OPEN YOUR WALLET with latest or older release !!!

If you feel like helping out by testing or by securing the chain make sure you create a new wallet.dat file.
When new wallet gets released WAIT until users report that indeed new wallet works as should be.

As said before I hope the this time devs take their time to properly fix and test the wallet.
Better to wait another week then loosing coins or your POS reward.
1st priority should be fail-safe measures to protect chain.
2nd POS reward checking and fix if needed.

Any transactions made before the fork, block height 506500 should be safe.
Transactions made after fork, could be lost.

Looks good so far.  We are easily at the highest block count of all the fucks... I mean forks from earlier.

If anyone wants to sync their wallet you MUST make sure that you're syncing with 2.0.0 nodes and version 60007.  If you don't... you're on your own... literally.

Do we know if Cryptsy is on the right blockchain?
I want to buy some cheap TEK but I don't want it to be where I can't withdraw it to my wallet.

Thanks, Jason

Cryptsy is having issues with TEK anyway... but here's something that everyone needs to understand right now:

DO NOT MAKE ANY WITHDRAWAL TRANSACTIONS AT THIS TIME!!!!!!!!!

If I'm wrong in saying this, someone please feel free to correct me...

I'm not even going to do any coin control transactions for a little while...

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT German Poolparty League !!

Hello Folk's,

sorry, but i'dont have TIME to play hours and hours with this Coin. What i'have do, later i'have play with the database. I'was bit in my table!!! So, i'have setup a new clean database!!!
This was the best way, without play hours more. What is with the work? The balance still stay in the wallet. I'will pay for all active users in this week, by hand, if send me a email
with tekcoin address: to mr@port-x.de. I'will look the old database for the account name and send him coins. Sorry this is the best way for me solved the problem.

so if you join again our pool you have to setup a new account. but you can be sure everytink will now ok.

thanks for your accept, my decision.

happy mining

PS: of course i'will send the coins only if everything is ok with transactions and i have testet befor.
