These fking regulations are pissing me off.

Because I"m in new york I can't withdraw more than $25 a day from cryptsy, so my tek is stuck. We need another exchange besides cryptsy.

Or if some of you have suggestions, I'd be open to that.

Cryptsy new regs are insane for Tier 0,

All US exchanges are going to be doing this soon.

Tek also has https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange?market=TEK_BTC
in New Zealand with none of these dumb requirements.

We just need to start using them to increase their volume.

 Cool

why not lie and say you don't live in NY

Because you can put an IP into an internet search and it will give the location.
The free ones are within a couple miles and the gov can request the street address
from the service provider, if the volume was large enough for them to bother

Maybe when Tek goes back up in price I can move to another state with all my Tek earnings  Grin
Use a VPN/Tunnel system. Not real expensive, and your IP will be wherever you want it to be.

VPN/Tunnel systems. Are they safe to use with cryptocoin wallets though?

By that I mean could something get lost in encryption/translation like a capital letter appearing as a lower case letter in a wallet address?

That happened to me once when I saved an essay from an OpenOffice document into Wordpad. If VPN/Tunnel systems are safe in this respect and provide immaculate translation, then they would provide a great security boost and be well worth the moderate annual fee.

Anyone use them on a computer storing their wallet?

At one of my jobs, I use a vpn to connect to our servers, two different ones. Never had a problem other than occasionally the connection timing out. I've never used a vpn tunnel to spoof my location, so I can't specifically answer your question. However, I do visually check every address I use. There comes a time in every man's life when paranoia ceases to be a neurosis and becomes a survival tactic.

EDIT: For Justin Case, I'd probably send a very small amount the first try.

taking unsync'd wallet offline so it doesn't stake while unsynced

I remember reading that somewhere ... I just noticed my wallet has been offline for 2 weeks.  How do I take the staking offline, until is sync's back?  (that's what I should do, right?)

Just lock your wallet.  This way it won't sync until you unlock it for POS.

I haven't seen TEK this cheap in ages. Great time to buy up some more at cryptsy for just 1500 sats a coin!

This coin has been going down for months. Not a good sign.

Looks like it's not stopping either. We really need that hardfork so we can get this over with.

I guess the rising BTC price isn't helping either, it becomes more tempting to sell alt coins.

I believe part of the problem is this talk of hardfork. We are doing it because we don't like people bringing down the stake % by using very small blocks in very large wallets. These Jerks are "forcing" us to take drastic measures. This coin has had a history with changes effecting the price of the coin negatively. The jerk in question doesn't seem to have a huge effect on the staking. I'm still getting 40%. I say we focus on this when it becomes a real problem. When the price is high and the stake % is low. For now i think the coin would best be served by focusing on marketing it. Getting the price up. Who wants to get into a coin that is about to be hard forked with all the potential problems that come with that and waiting for cryptsy to take it out of maintenance. How many are going to want out until this whole thing blows over. The price is supported by new investors and happy current investors.

Bit too late now it seems, tek at 1327 sats and crashing, now I'm pissed off. Lost 50% value. Thankfully I diversified. The new rules will make it harder for new people to come in as well, sealing the value of this coin's fate.

RIP.
I can say this. I will never leave this coin. My goal has always been to have more at the end of the month than what I started with. And I will stick to that. Made my ROI. I have no reason to leave. I'm in it for the long haul for better or worse. Besides. Prices go up and down in this industry. I see the current prices as a buying opportunity and I still recommend it to friends and family as top coin for "long term" investor.

This coin has been my best earner for longer than any other coin I hold. I still see it as the king of stake coins.

I'm obviously very new so I'm taking the biggest hit possible.

Probably will be a long time before I ROI.

The all time low on cryptsy was around 1020 sats but the buy orders are extremely weak looking at the buy list so I'd imagine this crash isn't nearly over yet and will blow past the alltime low.

Oh well, maybe a miracle happens next year. At least my coins will be gaining 40% in quantity, I guess.
The 40% really makes up for it. My family members are liking that safety net. The price goes down production goes up cause few stakers. When the % goes down it usually cause the price goes up and there are more stakers.

price is getting hammered right now. The good news is by not rushing into a early hardfork with the first few ideas.. though i really liked them, now the fix will be even better. Though i really like the idea of sticking it to the micro stakers, TEK is supposed to be fast and fair for all and the upcoming fix is more in line with that.

Well that's good, glad you had a change of heart.

Yeah, the ebb and flow of supply and demand. Well once the dust settles hopefully things go back to normal. The volatility is real killer.

In the mean time, I'm going to drown myself in video gaming.
You and me both. I finished GTA5, Unreal tournament III. Now working on Battlefield 3

just to confirm,

if I encrypt and lock my wallet it will not stake?

so, I lock it, wait for it to sync then, unlock it to let it stake?

(Something happened in the past, and it staked on the wrong chain or something, so I lost a stake cycle, don't remember now why I was thinking)

That is correct.  The newest wallet even has an "unlock to stake" option.

We need to get this coin hooked up with some payment processors... CoinPayments.com or ShapeShift.io With some payment processors, people will be able to use the coin for purchases etc. I prefer ShapeShift.io as they are not in the US and are 100% anonymous in their transactions. I have emailed them to request that TEK be added, Please follow suit and email tham as well and request that TEK be added..

Thundertoe, glad to hear you're carefully thinking this through before making changes.  I know you'll make the right decision.  I'm holding tight to my 300K TEK coins and won't be dumping them regardless of the price.

OK now that is done, and everything looks fine again.  I need to backup my wallet again, because my old backups will not be good, correct?  I just need to backup my wallet.dat file again - I can rebuild from that, and the pass phrase I encrypted with?
