A maximum block subsidy would make it where people are more apt to keep their wallets open 24/7 or at least more frequently. With the last fork, we had people who just kept the wallets closed for almost 2 months, got the stake, realized with wasn't 40% (since there was so much competition and it raised difficulty) and then dumped. HYP, CAP, and HBN are all moving towards a max subsidy, so I think we should too to increase network strength as well as using it as an inflation control mechanism.
Also, by enticing people to keep their wallets open, it also allows for the blocks to start hitting at different times. A lot of people won't fool with moving their coins around so they stake every day and spread the difficulty out. A bunch of 24/7 wallets will push it where some blocks may stake at 34, 36, 31, etc. days, doing this for them.
The rest of the things are code reviewed by Tranz and Presstab. I don't think they would cause too many issues, but I'm not a programmer (so I guess you can say I'm talking out of my ass).
Fact is, excluding NVC, TEK has the highest per coin value of any high PoS coin I'm aware of. A lot of people have hit the HYP train, but TEK functions in a fundamentally different fashion. No reason TEK can't return to 50k sat or so.

But here is were POW comes in, TEK is a hybrid, as long as there are enough people mining we don't have to worry. Also keep in mind that before this disaster TEK has been performing as expected (?), regardless if people only opened their wallets every x months. Cap or no cap, for me it does not matter, since I prefer to have it running every day for some hours, saves me a lot of time getting into sync after a break of some months. I thought that the POS bug is related to diff of network, diff should not have impact on reward as it currently does ? That's why I think some people dumped their coins, panic to the problems of new client. Still looking at what happened TEK price is doing well, it seems most TEK holders are patient. Got my 1st TEK before this event, for some 26, bought some more at about 16. Long term graphs before this event showed a steady price around 22 - 26, iirc ? Press and Tranz are human so bugs will hapen at times but with these guys we don't have to worry about major issues. Makes sense for TEK to follow HYP (or other projects coded by Press or Tranz), after HYP has done testing and bug fixing. Most code of qt clients are the same, including bugs. Here is one, present in any qt client, change default port to other and see your node count drop from 50 to less then 8. >I'm not a programmer (so I guess you can say I'm talking out of my ass).  People! How can I make POS diff/timeline chart?? Also transactions volume data needed, then may help to get clue - about when to unlock my wallet for staking next time? Can any one tell me how to get POS difficulty data for the time after the hardfork?? Thank you PS maybe we can have this option in the next wallet version some day??

Wallet only needs to be unlocked when encrypted, wallet is normally not encrypted.
To encrypt your wallet see :
settings -> encrypt wallet
Make sure you do not loose your pass phrase, if lost you can NOT open or restore your wallet !!

Is the upcoming fork going to fix the orphan issue and/or the stake % issue? Is the plan to get us back to 40% again in the near future?
As posted by the TEK team, next month will be a new client released which creates a hardfork. -Should fix POS reward. -Contain safe fail measures to avoid forking issues we had a while ago. What other implementations are on the table? Can we expect stake for charity or any other new features? |

I can't speak for others, but this is one of the many reasons that I have mostly switched away from windows. I don't own this laptop, so it's running windows, but my main machine only has windows in a VM. In Ubuntu, I have all the wallets that I use, which is a fair number, and I compiled all of them.
I'm going to learn how to do it in windows. I don't know when, as I have a lot going on, but hopefully before the next major update. Once I have it figured out, I'll post up a step by step guide for it here. It's fairly easy in Linux, but I imagine Windows has a number of deliberately difficult steps, because that's the nature of the beast. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised and find it as easy as Linux.
I have Linux machines too. I understand the relative strengths and weaknesses of each OS environment. However, in my opinion, the just-use-Linux argument is not a valid response to the issue at hand - that issue being that the latest compiled Windows version of the TEK qt wallet has started to cause AV programs to reject it. If, on consideration, the TEK team decides to make the coin Linux-only, then that is disappointing but fair enough, assuming an update to the OP spells it out. Otherwise, Windows users are left waiting for a Windows fix or a (difficult to achieve) convincing explanation of safety. Your earlier comment that you know and have confidence in the person who compiled the code is reassuring, and you definitely carry gravitas with me - but then so did BFL before they became the BFL we all know and loathe today, and so did the Dyslexic Zombei team before they vanished with a lot of BTC. My point is not to lump you in with scoundrels, but rather to remind that there is just no way to know on the Webz who is doing what to whom. This stuff must be as trustless as possible. Using compiled code is already a risky proposition. Using compiled code that sets off AV alarms when it did not before is more risk than I am willing to accept. Watching all the responses that bob and weave and deflect and deny and generally avoid fixing the issue is... baffling. I like this coin. I want to use it again - on a Windows machine - without disabling AV. I can't disagree with a single thing you said here. My earlier responses were more frustration than intentional bobbing and weaving. I don't know how to fix it, and I hate being in that position. I have no official ties to the development team. Thundertoe is a friend, and I have helped where I'm able. (and got compensated for it, though that was not my goal). But I'm an amateur programmer. No, that's overstating my skill. I'm a dabbler who would like to be an amateur programmer. I don't know why the current wallet is triggering your AV. It's NOT triggering mine, but I've only got Windows Defender set up. As I said, this is a secondary machine. My argument regarding Linux was more personal than advice. I'm a long term Windows user. I've used it almost since it's launch, bumps in the road and all, and I had thought after the debacle of Vista that maybe Microsoft had learned their lesson. Seven was great. I still like it a lot. 8 and 8.1 make Vista look good. I finally gave up in sheer frustration and started using Linux. Since I'm not a gamer, it does everything I need and doesn't give me a lot of grief. I'm still learning it, but overall I've been far more satisfied with it than I was with Windows, even without nearly 20 years of experience using it. Thundertoe has a hard time getting people to compile the windows wallets, and both of the current ones were compiled by volunteers. Again, both known to me. Presstab, while an excitable guy, is beyond reproach. Argakiig is also a good guy. I'm as certain as I can be that they would not put anything deliberately malicious in the code. But as you noted, you don't personally know me, and that's simply not good enough. Which is why I want to learn how to compile windows wallets and post up a guide for it. If you compile it yourself, you KNOW what's in it. It's not as convenient, but it's safer. And I'm starting to ramble, so I'll hang it up here. |

Would love to use the tek wallet , but until the av shows clean , sorry won't touch it. Running Windows. Will keep an eye on the thread for when their is a new wallet.  |

Is there a minimum amount for the stake to work? I have a single group under 200 that does not stake! Other amount 299 and 300++ stake within minutes
As for the AV problem I have chosen to do this , disabled AV TO OPEN WALLET . after I'm done staking . Close wallet change password for wallet , now using 50 chars , every time i open wallet change password

By far the most coin thefts so far were online service "hacks" and hacks - exchanges, web wallets and so on - but most people are still holding most if not all their coins there. Try to learn from others' mistakes while you still have some coins left. |

By far the most coin thefts so far were online service "hacks" and hacks - exchanges, web wallets and so on - but most people are still holding most if not all their coins there.
Try to learn from others' mistakes while you still have some coins left.
If the messages are all false positives, has anyone contact the AV companies to tell them they are flagging your wallet for no good reason? If so why won't they remove the warning? |

Not the Windows compiled version. The latest compiled version is generating Trojan warnings. Previous versions did not. Nobody has yet explained what changed, despite frequent requests for information. Other versions of qt - other coins - do not generate such warnings. Something changed. Internet strangers tell us not to worry about it. Sometimes they try bullying. Such efforts are misguided. I will not use the current version either. |
