Ye I am trying to spread the word around with the petition on Cryptsy. Hopefully they put it up soon.

Finally a coin that does not just waste power and ACTUALLY does something good for science.

Exchanges should step up and support this coin just on that fact alone.

So total coins should be 168mil. right?

How about generation rate? How about difficulty changes?
When do you expect last coin to be mined?
Just didnt found this basic info...

Mining DGC GRC! happily from today morning.
Also I recomend to take a look at this crazy game:
http://fold.it/portal/
Its very addictive, especialy when you master hydrogen bonds Smiley

Hey Conqueror,
Generation rate: 1 new block every 2.5 mins
Difficulty changes: Retarget every 30 mins.
Thanks for the link.
Thanks for switching over to GRC!

If anyone who downloaded the new client would like to test out Pool mining in production, edit your gridcoin.conf file and place this in it:
poolmining=true
(Restart gridcoin)

We currently have 3 people pool mining over 7 nodes.

You must find a block after switching to pool mode before you start receiving pool payments.  The pool payments continue indefinately as long as you find more blocks within the current difficulty lookback period.

Do a listminers from the console window to see your status in the pool after you mine your first block.

When anyone in the pool finds a block, you will receive compensation immediately.

Happy Mining.

That would be the client doing cpu mining?

No trader, the CPU goes to BOINC. The GPU's do the pool mining

traderman,

Yup, the in-client pool mining rewards the BOINC subside depending on the average BOINC utilization among those who mined the share.

grv,

At the moment, only the CPU provides computational power to BOINC. However, the dev's working on ways to reward BOINC work to both AMD and Nvidia cards. Either way, even just CPU computational power is already more than most other altcoins do. Also, the network would still need the work from processors to do the PoW verification and push out blocks, so mining on the blockchain is still a necessity.

Now I've done the whole setup prozess.
But when I'm registering a mining modul in the Gridcoin Mining Modul the BOINC prozessing power is always zero.
What should I do?
Furthermore I've added some projects in BOINC and it's running now, but what did it exactly do?
Forgive my poor questions but thats a really new terrain for me.
stefan

Hey stefan,

First, BOINC allows people to contribute processing power to research projects that require a great deal of compute power to finish. You can choose to do projects that do things such as help with anti-malaria research, mathematical computations, physics research, etc.

Second, in your mining console, what is the number of your Mining Module Registered Version and your Threads? Also, did you install with the .msi or extract the .zip?

Hi,

I installed the .zip.
First when I wanted to register mining console gridcoin was killed so I read the troubleshooting and installed microsoft.net version 4.51.
After that, when registering mining console gridcoin did not close, but nothing happened.
It shows furthermore "Boinc Processing Power: 0"

Is there a difference between the credits I have on the project homepages and my wallet in gridcoin?
Thanks.

Stefan,

When you go to the Mining Console now, is the Mining Module Registered Version 0? What number is it?  What number are your Threads too? If you tell us those numbers we'll be able to tell you what to do to get the processing power to go up.

Meanwhile, with Gridcoin open, open an administrator command prompt (search cmd in your start menu, then right click and click run as administrator), then type "lodctr /r" without the quotations. Then restart your Gridcoin client. Also, do you have any of the following projects added? Rosetta@home, Seti@home or World Community Grid? If not add one of them as your project.

boinc processing power: 0
threads: 0
mining modul registered version: 0

I will now add one of the projects.
After opening cmd and writing lodct /r i restarted gridcoin, but same problem.
Unluckyly I have to go to work no.
I'm back in round about 11 hours.

Okay cool.  After updating to .net 4.5, you went back to the mining console and tried hitting Register Mining Module, then click refresh a few times right? If not go and try that. If you already did, then with Gridcoin open, try this:

Open an administrator prompt and enter the following.

     • regasm boinc.dll

     • regtlibv12 boinc.tlb

They should both return successful. Then go to the Mining Console and hit refresh a few times. You should see the Registered Mining Module Version go up, as well as the Threads and Processing Power.

If that doesn't work, then delete the folder you extracted the .zip to, and install the .msi, as it does the registering automatically.

Yeah one point Id like to make, when you install from the zip and do the manual registration of the files, if your mining console Registered Version is "0", the client is NOT going to work.  You have to get that number above zero.  When you click "Register" from the client, it will technically do the commands Aysyr listed but that only works if you are running the program as admin and you have Unblocked the downloaded files (to mark them as safe).  Next, if you do the manual registration from the command prompt you have to run these commands from the gridcoin-qt.exe's location (ie CD to the gridcoin folder first).  If all this fails install the program using the MSI as Aysyr pointed out and it will auto-register.

Good luck.

In last 2 days I have 7 accepted shares and 6 rejectet (all time boinc utilization 100)

Is this normal? Or not?

Ok today I lost 3x150GRC as those were not verified by network  Angry
