Good promotion by a twitter day trader: https://twitter.com/ActualAdviceBTC/status/425678532639858688

Quote
throwing some #doge winnings into #NXT... not many exchanges for it yet tho http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/#jump-nxt-btc  I guess btc is flat enough to play alts

around 50 DOGE for NXT seems to be the current value. As the two markets start to diverge, it would be possible to play the variance around this ratio, eg. sell DOGE for NXT at <40, buy back at >60

If that really works, it would be a significant gain each round turn. The danger of course is the DOGE can go totally out of control and so can NXT. Trade only what you don't mind holding for a long time.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Why Only 1000 bytes for arbitrary message?

An arbitrary number was taken.

But how can someone send a file? I can only split but with a 2 MB files became impossible

The main purpose of Arbitrary Messages is to send signals, not to store data. During the shrinking all AMs will be removed.

Pedantic, but: this is why the "official" currency code for Nxt would be XNT, in accordance with ISO 4217.  FYI, BTC is known as XBT.

hey cfb is there any reason why someone would have to store arbitrary messages on their computer for all time. I was thinking that after like a month or something people would be able to delete them out of their blockchain to save space. Do i have this right?

Oh and btw...Frictionless has another project going on:

http://cryptosource.org/ixcoin-a-very-old-bitcoin-clone-ready-to-skyrocket/

He's trying to dethrone Bitcoin, Mastercoin and now NXT.

Will he succeed? Stay tuned...

Anyone else want to get their voice heard on FC and his projects, get commenting. Keep it civil, though.

What's your opinion on how to store data in a decentralized manner?

He's busy with NEM.  Question for CFB; Is a Reputation System being developed by JLC or You? (or plans to develop)  I was going to offer a bounty for a working version, implemented using public AM.

Reputation System is not going to be implemented in foreseeable future.

Bummer...  My hope was that NXT Reputation System could help with giving reputation to closed source apps, too.

Didn't you say previously that RS would be needed for Asset Exchange?

sure of course but when blocks are buried under a months worth of new blocks you can trust that you are on the right chain. thus you can just store the transactions and the block payload hash separately. And even though you couldn't calculate the hash out of the blocks you had, it would be such old news after a month that this wouldn't really matter.

just an idea. not prepared to claim that its a good one.

Shrinking works similar way. Nothing stops us from doing it each month.
