I heard somebody said Next is going to be 30$ in 2 years, what do you guys think? for 1 year and 2 year?

I'd say it's possible. It's also possible that it's going to be $100. But there is no chance to predict such things. So it's nothing but speculations.

All we can do is make 1-2 month predictions based on info we got now. BCNext can probably see further, but he won't tell.

You guys realize, that NXT hast about 80 times more coin supply than BTC and 40 times more than LTC ? If you say we can reach the market capitalization of LTC in this year, than yes! But if you say, we reach the price of 1 NXT = price of 1 LTC, than you are just delusional.

1 NXT = 23$
1000000000= 23000000000 that is 2,x times the marketcapitalisation from BTC, the coin that has the biggest community and is here for 4 years already.

I think it would be good if we could make it more difficult for people to accidentally send NXT to a wrong address.  Right now if you make any typo you can easily lose NXT.  I would much prefer if the account numbers that people use to send NXT are such that only a small percentage of the numbers are potentially valid so if you make a typo it will just error out and know that it can't possibly be a valid NXT address even if it was never used (Bitcoin addresses work like this, if you make a typo you can't send).  I would much rather give someone a 25 digit account number to send me money, knowing that if they make a typo it almost certainly errors out than a 20 digit number where one wrong number and your money is gone

Any thoughts?

See:  http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/New_Address_Format

Thanks joefox and pandaisftw for the info.

I was previously talking about hiberNXT and how it is considered less secure because it is only secured by 2^64 instead of 2^256.  I think some people would like to be able to create their key offline and send to it with the full 2^256 security protection (especially if system is in place to detect typos)  Is this possible to implement?

I understand. That's why I only say that it's possible. Like it's also possible that BTC will cost $20'000. Unlikely but possible. For example there is no chance for QRK or ZET to reach $1. But there is such chance for Nxt. It's unique and might become the second most popular currency after Btc within a year or two. It also may not happen.

For example I sold all Qrk and Zet and bought Nxt. My brother and my friend followed my advice, sold all other currencies and got into Nxt. A bit late but still had a nice profit. So money flows from other currencies to Nxt.

Hey Aaron,
I'm putting on a debate about Metacoin layers on FRIDAY in miami, will anyone able to speak about NXT be able to attend?  Mastercoin, Ethereum and Bitshares will be there.  This will run on LTB as a full episode next week.

Let's Talk Bitcoin!

Oh how I wish I were in Miami.  Or anywhere even close.

I don't know how I feel about Nxt being described as a metacoin, but since Ethereum is also on the list, it's not so bad.  I have noted that Andreas has mentioned Nxt a few times as "a layer on top of Bitcoin", though, which bugs me.

I've been thinking about a few topics lately that Nxt proponents should address, because they're also hot topics in the Bitcoin world:  fungibility, transparency vs security, counteracting centralization, the "mining economy", numbers of transactions per block (and how they change over time) as a measure of value, maintaining strong consensus on the network, and "scarcity" (which I am beginning to think is simply a myth in the digital realm).  I think Nxt has some interesting solutions for these issues and think we should be documenting them in the whitepaper.  I swear I'll get to it one day.

I'm also wondering where we are with finding someone to take the 10BTC fund for a cryptanalysis on Curve25519 key generation and EC-KCDSA signing...?  I stumbled upon this guy, from Amsterdam, who proposed a Curve25519 cryptanalysis in 2009, and am wondering if any of our Netherlandic friends (Damelon??) might want to poke him: Cees de Laat

Interesting event there. Could Niffy present NXT and talk about technical stuffs ? I don't think any technically strong guy plan to be in Miami yet.

What's a pity.  could someone go ? It is a excellent chance to present NXT. Ferment ? wesleyh ? Cfb ? how much would be a Belarus-Miami flight ticket ?

How about Ola  Huh

Nifty is a great network engineer, but not a developer. Guys, it would be worth putting some of that bounty toward flying one of our developers to the conference. Getting in front of the movers and shakers is one of the most important PR opportunities for Nxt.

someone is probably better than no one and its almost thursday already. spread this around to everyone you can and lets just see if we can get ANYONE there by friday.

From the angle I've been involved with, seems to be going well. We've gathered dozens of address of writers at gawker, bloomberg, forbes, etc who've written about Bitcoin in the past. Justabit has already started a campaign of sorts with these folks. EDIT: campaign is probably much too strong of a word, 'introductory email' is probably a better phrase.

Also, a pretty cool tangent: Bitcoin at Burning Man

I bet we can pull together some funds to get one of you there if you're able to clear your schedule. I would gladly chip in a couple hundred $-worth of Nxt, and I think others definitely would as well.

I am technical and articulate and have been slowly sifting through source code to understand things better, BUT I don't feel like I could field questions from cryptographers or software engineers without imploding.  I can talk about Nxt, and some of the challenges it faces, but the CfB-BCNext filter is a little too opaque to be useful for understanding the deep fundamentals (after only two months of this stuff, the exhaustion is overwhelming: "the source code is the whitepaper!", "community must decide", "Enigma!", "Tease!", "u are incorrect check thread for answers plz", "wait for third part of plan", "many riddles in the source if you look", etc.)

I'd say some nice things about Nxt, and then one guy would raise his hand and ask "can you explain the rationale behind basing a cryptocurrency on a mix of Curve25519, EC-KCDSA, and SHA-256 when no papers exist that assess the semantic security of that particular Diffie-Hellman key exchange algorithm, and it is has only traditionally been favoured for its calculation speeds?", and I would suddenly smell toast and collapse into an apoplectic heap, muttering "just ask Beyonce it all comes from Beyonce" and weeping.  THEN watch the price.

It's a real Catch-22.  Getting a chance to take part in a panel that would be included in the (always awesome and SO VALUABLE) Let's Talk Bitcoin podcast is *exquisite*, but the person to talk about the advent and future of metacoins is currently living in Belarus and busy until April.

MY VOTE would be for someone like wesley, ferment, opticalcarrier, rickyjames or ricot.
