@cfb I regularly read this thread and i saw you mention one of your projects "Lakshmi coin". It looks like there is a group in India trying to create a bitcoin clone called "Laxmi coin". Here is the website - http://www.laxmicoin.com/
Thought i'd let you know. BTW big, big thanks to you and all the devs for your amazing work!

Yes, it's she... Well, these guys will be surprised when people start buying their coins. The same happened to FutureCoin when Nxt price rised.

Crazy idea: instead of asking academics, what about cypherpunks? The main thing is that folks want reputed experts to do the review right? Some of them have expertise in encryption (e.g. Assange worked on rubberhose), and they've got reputation within their circles too. Anyone know them from newsgroups, or wherever they hang out nowadays? Might not even need to offer BTC, Nxt seems like exactly the kind of thing they'd love to work on. (Or do they already know about this and I'm underestimating how 1337 they are?)

EDIT: 1201 pages now. Extra prize for me!

If this works like any other forum I've been on, you need an admin to help you. (admin, not mod!)

Release 0.5.10

sha256: 9cbe87450f6ed23f8cb881026e44dcee46108101c0de0d40989cbd6215ce233a

Change log:

This is a bugfix release. All users of 0.5.9 and earlier should upgrade.

Fixed a bug in Transparent Forging. The fix will take effect at block
51000. Users who don't upgrade by this block will be left out on a fork.

Fixed a minor bug in peer weight calculation.

Progress report:

The refactoring of 0.6.0 is going well. The Nxt project now consists of
86 java files instead of 1. I will proceed to work on persisting blocks
and transactions in a database some time next week. I do not plan to
release 0.6.0 until absolutely necessary, because it does not contain
any new user visible features and at this point is likely less stable
than the 0.5.x series. Urgent bugfixes and new API's, if needed, will
still be added to 0.5.x. Any Nxt clone projects that have been eagerly
awaiting the 0.6.x series, so that they can benefit from my refactoring
work for free, will have to continue waiting, while we make progress.

What for? Clones won't be able to use it without major changes in crypto part anyway.

Edit: Actually, they can use, but only with an identical genesis block. LOL

I hate academics and their gay twead blazers.

I love my gay tweed blazer, and so does my husband.  Take your bigotry elsewhere.

And NxtChg -- don't go.  The Internet is a scary place.  As Damelon has said, we just disagree with you.  It doesn't mean we don't think you're a lovely person.

I even like Chang Hum, even though s/he uses words s/he shouldn't use in a negative context Wink

Just had a brain flash.

Instead of taking a tech person to the conference, just print out this thread, bind it and keep referring to it by thumbing it's pages.

When asked questions, just stare for a while at the person, put your hand on the pile of print and in a hollow voice intone: "it's in the book"

Disclosure: I'm actually homosexual so it makes it ok for me to the use that word in the same way Jews can call each other Jews.

Your disclosure doesn't make it any more okay than the fact that you dropped the word in a negative context, with no personal or cultural context provided until prompted.  You can't do that, any more than I or anyone else can.

I don't mean to derail this thread more than I already have this morning, but I have lines I won't let people cross.  I understand you meant well, but intention and perception are not the same thing and you need to be more careful.

In other news, so I don't feel like I wasted a post to be a complainer: hurray for version 0.5.10; and last night I made a bunch of updates to the draft whitepaper that I hope someone will look at because I'm not terribly confident in my understanding of the source code.  Peek at http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Whitepaper:Nxt
