when is Nxt going to be on exchanges like cryptsy or bter or stuff like that? or is there anybody working on the issue? cos i have heard that dgex is barely functional and also, being in those bigger exchanges will clearly boost Nxt popularity.
Better questions is, when is Nxt itself going to be the exchange. That is, when is colored coins going to hit the scene!? We've been told in early Jan. Is that still on target?

DGEX is functioning well. Manually verifying and processing payments in a single man operation takes sometimes 24 hrs or so, usually a few minutes up to a few hours. More automation is on its way. Deposits at DGEX seem to be coming in much faster now - it will be awesome when everything is fully automated. Agreed, Dgex is much better now, but still need a more automated system, we have a couple weeks to get this done! On a separate note, 0.3.19e is functioning very well for me.

One guy is working hard to bring a client for NDE as early as possible ( http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt_client.txt). U could help to bring it earlier if u donated some coins to him (he codes it during spare time). Or u could develop alt-client for the exchange, I'll give u access to a server with enabled Colored Coins.

I have a question: Can I create a wallet on my friends laptop and send my coins to that wallet and then remove everything related client. And 3 - 5 months later come back and re-install the new version of client to another computer and access my coins?

- you even can not to remove Nxt client. Nxt installation contains nothing related to your account. Nxt is completely brain wallet.

That's exactly why nextcoin.org website needs to have an official public node or two running for everyone who doesn't want/can't install their own software.
with the simple instructions:
1. Open the URL (has to be https:// :7875 only access). 2. Make up a really good pass phrase (over 30 characters). 3. Unlock/create your account with that pass phrase. 4. Put down or remember well the pass phrase and put down your account number. 5. Profit.
CfB, don't worry about this centralizing everything, there'll be enough people running their own nodes, there are already quite many, many more will come in the future.

In fact it does have one currently, unannounced. I run nextcoin.org but lack the time / resources to operate a public node with the current state of the client - continuous needs for restart / redownload blockchain etc. I also cannot trust to let anyone do server config as part of DGEX & other sensitive projects run from the same server. This is expected to ease slightly with dgex automation, and perhaps some server reorganization. I'm unfortunately unable to discuss this to a great length currently.

The public node should be on a separate server, as it's likely to generate a lot of bandwidth. Let me know if you need help to set up and maintain a server for an official public node.

AFAIK BTC-e.com is waiting for the source code released. Dunno about the others. We do not plan to add Nxt

DGEX is functioning well. Manually verifying and processing payments in a single man operation takes sometimes 24 hrs or so, usually a few minutes up to a few hours. More automation is on its way. Yes, it has improved. Sometimes withdrawal is completed after 2 hours, but sometimes it takes still 10 hours or more (especially on weekends). If you would bring it down to 4 hours during CET time I would be pleased. The main problem is that if you have a withdrawal pending, you cannot deposit anything at all!

I have an idea.
We could split development among different people to speed things greatly. ... R there any bounties for developers and tech support? ...
- Nxt stakeholders really need to organize themselves. opticalcarrier, could you make public moderated topic at nextcoin.org dedicated to stakeholders discussions? Only stakeholders (>1M) should post to that topic, all other posts should be deleted by moderator (if nobody wish to be a moderator, I can be) because of trolls. All the stakeholders willing to participate at that topic need to put their stockholder's tokens into their forum signature. That token will prove their stakes. It is very easy to make the stakeholder's token: 1. Open your Nxt account; 2. Press small lilac key near your account numbers; 3. Type your nextcoin's forum name into "Website" field and press the button "Generate..". That's all. sure, Ill start working on this. Ill see if its best to create a whole new section or not, and make you a moderator. When complete, you can create an initial thread for people to post tokens for authentication, and the carry out business. Thanks for voluteering to run this - verifying lots of tokens wont be very fun

FTR, I m against this idea, even with SSL, the data DOES get decrypted at some point on the server, and its possible for passphrases to be compromised that way

FTR, I m against this idea, even with SSL, the data DOES get decrypted at some point on the server, and its possible for passphrases to be compromised that way Yeah, but then non tech savvy users will be left out. Many are struggling with understanding concepts of bitcoin and how to run bitcoin wallet software to create a wallet, that's why there are online wallet services for such users who store wallets for them, although it's not safe. It wouldn't hurt to run an official public node for these users the same way, except it'd be more secure than those bitcoin online wallets, because the wallets aren't stored on the server in NXT. I mean, if the official NXT website shouldn't be trusted to run a public node for fear the info is decrypted, then it's going to be a big discouragement for potential users, who only consider to invest in NXT.

you can do as you say and leave nxt in dgex, but you will require a wallet at some point. i had over 1.3mill in dgex fow 2 weeks or so and it was safe, but i would advise to use your own nxt account to store large funds
