Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

laowai80 can I send to you the VPS info I have paid and you manage it?
Also I can send you some funding to open more of them and get a tip too.

I think you have to be the proxy in this, can you do it?

I am sure me and some other stakeholders will contribute to a good tip for you doing so!
Bump!

Also, do these VPS nodes NEED to be linked with my wallet?

I'd prefer not to except if CfB assures me there is NO risk for my funds!

Then I will try to do it on my own (maybe pay a good tip to the guy who will help me).

yeah I pm'ed you.
no need to be linked to your wallet, you can set a hallmark on them or not, but CfB says hallmarking helps network better.

You can set a hallmark in https://localhost:7875/admin.html

Another dummy question:

Each time we have an updated version what actions should I do on my side? Update my local client as usual?

If I don't announce the server as public, is it helpful for the network?

Yes, coz u still work as block/transaction pusher.

Thanks for your explanation.

I'm buying $20/month VPS:

2GB Memory
2 Cores
40GB SSD Disk
3TB Transfer

and try to public the static ip.

BTW, I got PM from another guy who asked me to buy some more nodes for him. I will do that after my own node set up.

You should update your local client as CfB releases new versions per his instructions.

I'll update your VPS.

may be something wrong with newest versions (0.4.1e and 0.4.2) ?

my 0.4.0 VPS with well-known (bootstrap) IP can work ~2 hour before "java.lang.NullPointerException", whereas my anorher VPS 0.4.2 with unknown (for public) IP hardly survive 30 min.

Good Idea,
but 20bugs are a lot for 2GB + 2cores limited transfer VPS.
For that you'll find more RAM and CPU VPS!

So, the attacker won? Network is paralyzed, exchange is paralyzed, devs cannot handle it?  Huh

Nothing special AFAIK, maybe BCNext added something, I don't review all the changes...

Hey Come-from-Beyond let me see if I got this right...

If we do not see any errors on our cmd window, it is preferable to let the client run and try to catch up rather than replace nxt files, right?

Tactical advantage is with the attacker, the network is too tiny right now. Nobody cared about setting up public nodes in the past few weeks, only cared for trading and growth of price.

But we have the tools to make fight the attack if the network is bigger, need to grow it by an order of magnitude in the next 2 weeks.
