Net hash up to 510 mh/s

Struggling to find blocks on livechains pool. People abandoning pool too.
Doubt there is that much mining power atm. Probably something else. But I might be wrong though.

Worth solo mining at 280kH/s? Or is it pool time?

Pool time for sure. I'm not getting much from PoW right now.

As you can see I was getting pool payouts about every 30 minutes.

Then it took 2.5 hours, then it took 9 hours.

I had a bunch of PoS blocks of which, 5 are not confirming. Not sure why not.

I'm sad this hit an exchange so early. Just when I bought a new card especially to get more grain. It really isn't profitable to solo mine this now. As I said, I'm better off now just buying in.

Coinblockchain is on the old chain. So You will not see any actual transactions at coinblockchain

There may actually be less people mining. This massive 500 mh/s network hash rate might just be an error rather than some big solo miners.

I was about to make a large purchase, but I'm waiting to see how things go.

Seems like there is a problem with the PoS and PoW interacting. I'd like to know that it can be fixed before buying any Grain.

The dev seems to know what he is doing but it may be too much for him to keep up with.

For example, the Grain website hasn't been updated with the new client, and the First post says there is a bounty for a block explorer but it also lists 2 explorers already.

Perhaps it would be better to use http://pages.github.com/ to host a coin's webpage. It offers several advantages.

  • You already have an account with github, no need to manage a hosting account someplace else.
  • It's easy to generate pages and they can be updated by pushing commits. This lets others submit pull requests to help out with updates
  • It's free

The information between http://coinblockchain.com/grain/chain
and http://gra.livechains.net/explorer/block_crawler.php is not matched.

one of them is wrong, I guess block_crawler is right,

Graincoin has the varible block time concept, even it is set at 30sec,

Example

11:34:50 94024 1.2202
         9 POS blocks
11:37:57 94035 1.7857
11:38:02 94036 1.3350
         3 PoS blocks
11:39:57 94040 1.7556
         3 PoS blocks
11:41:50 94044 1.7741
         13 PoS blocks
11:47:55 94058 3.2697
         5 PoS blocks
11:50:26 94064 2.4353
         29 PoS blocks
12:04:53 94094 3.97

more PoS blocks between PoW, PoW Diff is going to the moon,

      example #1
      ~~~~~~~
      between 94044/94058               PoW TimeGap is 00:06:05 (305 sec),
      and, there are 13 PoS + 1 PoW   average time gap is 305/14 = 21.7 sec
      Diff of PoW should be reduced becasue of the actual time gap is 305 sec
      but, Diff of of PoW has increaed because of the diff has calculated base on 21.7 sec
      actually, it is increased huge due to the acceleration factor from previous calculation,
The current Diff changed is affected with the previous calculation result,
anyway, more PoS blocks between PoW, Diff will be increased dramatically,
Why this is happen,
(1) target block time for PoW is not enough, just only 30 sec, not each to include the enough PoS,
     If Diff is extremey lower than PoW, it will generate the other issues also such as reject/orphan/stale,
     and, blockchain will not completed due to the lack of each QTs
(2) when calculate Diff of PoS, use the BlockHeight (it will includes all PoS block numbers, short time block) even calcuate only 1 block height of PoW
(3) maximum number of PoS between PoW is not under control, actually, it can not be controlled directly, actually, wrong diff of PoW is extended the block time, and it give more chance to put PoS in between PoW
Anyway, when check the block founds in the pool, and myself,
The practical block time of this coin is around 120~300 seconds now.
Anyway,
I have no issues with the longer block time,
Becasue of it is the better way to stablize,
but, I hope it can be a official,
or all miners will be misunderstand
Guys, something is very wrong. My 1.3 wallet seems to be on the wrong blockchain, PoS blocks are produced every minute. Current difficulty is shown as 0.22 - 2.3, and it is changing constantly between these numbers. Should I stop mining and wait for the fix, or we can go on mining? Currently working with forkpool.
Diff 0.2xxxx, it is the diff of PoS block
Diff 2.xxxx ~ 4.xxxx, it is the diff of PoW block
If it is changing, you are mining PoS and PoW both.
I don't quite understand what's going on. Has the update worked, or is it bugging out?
It is working well, just Diff of PoS/PoW are 10x higher than the expected value,
So, mining too slower than the expected block time.
If the block time of this coin is 5 minutes, i can say it is working perfectly
^^ so, actually, i have no concern now,
Only worry about the new miner
Update : just visit the pool, and check how many they can find the block
But concerning the current hashrate - is this someone with 300-400-500 GHs power or is this an internal issue of the coin? Because everyone's grain supply has decreased about 8-10x. Not really pleasant, considering that the price stays the same.
You are right, if the cost of coin is same as now.
But, if coin cost is increased, it will makes the other issue also.
I belive the dev will reduce the baseline soon
Was hoping the price would start coming down on coined up, but it's slowly going up. Just bought 1.6 million grain.
