With all of the discussion about the decision to leave the ongoing 10k block reward, I made the following spreadsheet to calculate the estimated number of coins.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ak3GAgdwo8-edGZ0OTVSZVNjRHRWd3BaTV85VDlGTVE&usp=sharing

Right now it looks like in May 2015 we will hit 100 billion DogeCoin in circulation and then about 145 billion in 2023 (10 year anniversary).  I hope you guys find this data helpful.  Feel free to use / share how ever you would like.  Smiley

Does this account for all the addresses that people no longer use? I move my shit to a new address regularly, I've been through at least 100 or so addresses.

I made a more convenient statistical overview, which excludes all addresses with less than 10 Doges:

It's true that there is no cap, but that article is not particularly correct.

Quote
This means there could be 200, 500 or even a million billion DogeCoin in 10 years from now.

This is nonsense, there will be ~5.3billion coins mined a year after the initial 100 billion.
This means in the 10 years following the 100 billionth coin being mined a further 53 billion will be added, so to say 200, 500 or million billion in 10 years is clearly scaremongering and ill informed.

Bear in mind the first 100 billion is being mined in 18 months, the next 100 billion will take 18.9 years.

It's not a big deal.

I added a comment on the article page earlier today explaining why IMO an inflationary coin is actually advantageous in the long run and will ultimately benefit Dogecoin.
