What is Skycoin?

Skycoin is a groundbreaking technology platform, designed to enable the creation of the decentralized internet. The new cryptographic and network primitives allow verification of mathematical conditions for unanimous network consensus, both for public and private blockchains. The new network primitives also enable detection of malicious node behaviour. Obelisk was inspired by academic research into adversarial distributed time-stamping and algorithms such as Ben-Or's, Paxos, and the Castro-Liskov PBFT algorithm. I'd be surprised if Poloniex listed it with a question mark over the remaining 95% of the supply being in the dev's control regardless of the longevity and validity of the project.

Exactly, I've read everything that the dev has said in this thread recently but nothing he said really gives an excuse for this. Distribution should be a priority or the whole project just looks incompetent, the more people find out about the coin while the distribution is basically non existent, the more people will lose interest in the project simply because they have no access to the coins at a normal price, knowing that devs are holding 95% of the supply and the coin has already been in development for 3.5 years.

I love this coin, 3.5 Years of development, that is good but distribution cannot be the same, you are confusing the economy for no reason and there will always be a big question mark above this project. I have traded cryptos on this forum for about 4 years now and this is one of the worst distributions I've ever seen, putting a huge stain on its amazing tech, there is no excuse for this.

I've been on this forum about that long too (3.5 years or so) and this one completely passed me by. I read the entire thread not long ago and was blown away at its innovations and plans.

I think the excuse the dev does have, which appears valid in the realm of the dev is that he simply wasn't prepared for it to be openly traded yet. The code  was there and the market has caught up unfortunately.

From someone who's just bought 1000 or so to see where this would go, it's not a big enough investment that if all 100 million were suddenly distributed, I'd kill myself but I'm sure there are people who've put a lot more in and want to see long term value. If the dev team keep the several million they have aside, is there any real reason for not burning a lot of the remainder instead of trying to control the release of the rest centrally and arbitrarily?

I think the only real solution is to burn a considerable amount, lets say 80 Million, after which only 15 million will be left over for distribution. The devs could keep a significant amount, lets say 5 mil, to fund future development.
