didn't MPEx change their DNS to point the domain to whitehouse.gov when they were under DDoS?

I thought that was kinda funny.

I feels ya... NCAA cannot be enjoyed until SwC is back.

Just looks like a very impressively strong DDoS attack.  Causing all sorts of issues.  Sucks, Freemoney + Seal Team 6 working on it.

It has to me a major poker entity that is doing this to these infant bitcoin poker sites because they know bitcoin is the future of the onling gaming industry and they are scared.  It seems to have happened to Btcontilt.com right around the time they reached the same user volume of about 200-300 users like this site has recently done.
When they bother like this, it's just another confirmation that bitcoin is big Smiley Solutions will be found, long live SwC!

We have chosen to move to a data center with stronger DDoS protection. Unfortunately that means it will take hours at least, possible a full day.

When we came back online briefly in the middle of the night I was able to award chips for stacks in the Daily Bitcoin, but nothing else yet. Other refunds will be made as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Couldn't you get better DDOS protection?

I know that is how Scientology stopped the DDOS attacks, but I'm not sure how much this costs.

The Scientology cult hired Prolexic, which is a good solution if you have nearly unlimited cash.  Prolexic is the premier commercial DDoS mitigation service, but they also charge substantially more than even their closest competitors.

The problem is finding DDoS mitigation at a price where it blocks the attacks but without costing you all your profit.

If this is the same guy doing this to all the BTC sites it seems he's getting more experienced at it.  I hope the BTC sites are communicating about how to respond to this.  It'd be nice to find out where he lives and pull out all his fingernails with a pair of pliers, but I guess that is unlikely.

Honestly it might be worth moving the site to the darknet, or at least adding alternate access methods via a Tor hidden service and/or I2P.

A hidden service gateway would by the nature of tor itself be protected from most forms of DDOS attacks.

1)  This current downtime is used to make for more uptime in the future

2)  The Mavens component functioned just fine in this instance.  The DDoS was the issue this time.

3)  As many of our players have likely seen with the rapid development of various SwC organs, let me assure you the technical team I refer to as Seal Team 6 is hard at work as we speak upgrading many components of this site.  We are cooking up a badass low rake poker.  Sit tight, we got you.

so odd that these ddos attacks have been happening.  no ransom demands like last time?  i guess its possible that large casino interests could be behind it, but honestly i don't think a site with an avg of 300 users would pose much of a threat to them.  its true bitcoin is the future of online gambling/money in general but its still in the "its just a fad" phase in mainstream thinking right now.  i think thats changing but really i can't think of a good motive for attacking seals.  Maybe some hacker had some donk suck out on pocket aces and when he went into the lobby to complain he got trolled.

No ransom demand.

It is hard to guess at the motive with nothing to go on, we're just concentrating on making it as difficult as possible to knock us down in the future.
