it is not the same thing, these devs and RM talked and they decided to co-exist because the RM thing is not really the same thing, it is described as "Derivative Layer" where as this ultracoin is traditional

Mining Profitability VS DOGE

On my 3x 7950er Rig, I can get 7700 DOGE, thats ca. 0.014BTC per day.

Same Rig makes 90UTC/Day at the moment, that makes 0.027BTC a day if I can sell it at 0.0003.

Even now its very profitable to mine.

Update

Ultracoin community there was about 140 BTC buys on UTC before CT shutdown. Lot's of investor's money interested in UTC is locked on CT. The prices on the smaller exchanges is anything but a good reflection of UTC price. If you are dumping at those prices, you are only losing on a great opportunity to make money. Ultracoin, will kick into a new Nfactor very soon. The price based on cost of mining alone should go up. Coinwarz implementation of new scrypt-jane coins is around the corner. Mintpal is only 2-4 days away even if we are skipped on next pickup. Maybe it's all good karma, CT refunds people the coins, and Mintpal opens UTC market on the same day! That would be epic.  I have told everyone to keep UTC on local wallet, because it's a good investment by all means, but I understand some of you have bills to pay. Those who can't wait will have investors willing to pick up the coins cheap now. But, please remember, we had our safe buy walls around 40 not 30-25. So you are really doing nothing but a bad decision selling at a those prices, on a small exchange that can be easily manipulated. If you really want to sell, just wait 4 days and sell at a better price on Mintpal. On the cryptsy front, Bigvern is now picking up coins with big BTC trade volume from competing exchanges, it won't be far off for UTC to be listed there after Mintpal, if not even before Wink   ** Be very careful of new exchanges, we have been bitten twice by exchanges, let the CT incident be the last, put your coins in your wallet and wait 4 days.
