Hello, I can only pull 190kh/s per cards (amd 7970 tahiti radeon) without HW at the intensity I 12...
750 kh/s for 4 cards 7970... ridiculous...
I have 100% HW with I 13  Huh the same rig can pull 2500 kh/s with cgminer ...

With I 13 I can pull 1200kh/s but with 100% HW...
With I 12 I can only pull 750kh/s without HW...  Cry

4x7970, Mobo Sabertooth, processor Am3+, 16 Gb ram, Ubuntu 13.10 64bits...

./vertminer --scrypt-vert -o startum -u user -p pwd -I 12 --thread-concurrency 4096 --shaders 2048 -g 2 -w 256 --auto-gpu
-->185kh/s per 7970 no HW

./vertminer --scrypt-vert -o startum -u user -p pwd -I 13 --thread-concurrency 4096 --shaders 2048 -g 2 -w 256 --auto-gpu
-->330kh/s per 7970 100% HW

I have the same bad hashrate with vertminer 0.5.4pre and vertminer 0.5.3...

I can see a link on github for cgminer CPU and GPU miner for vertcoin https://github.com/Bufius but I can't compile it... and there is no ADL_SDK like every other version of cgminer I saw...

And another thing, when I try to compile vertminer with ubuntu 64bits.... I can't do it with your ./buildit.sh  Huh
I have to tape ./autogen.sh before ....
I will post screenshots this evening...

I have another rig with Xubuntu and my 7970 on it is pulling 330kh/s

hi

I have MSI 280x Gaming and I had a wierd experience. I did not build it together my rig, so 4 cards are working separately now. 1-1-2 in three desktop. Now, I tried couple of settings which I found here. On the first machine finally I found the good one, I'm getting around 320-330 kh/s. I moved to the other machine and I received this (this is the 2 card desktop, but the other one with 1 card is doing the same, really low kh/s with the same settings with works with the first desktop)

And this is the config :

export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
.\vertminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://eu.vertcoin.org:8080 -u xxx.xxx -p xxx -v 1 -I 13 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8193 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-threads 1 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune 20 --auto-fan --temp-overheat 90

Also, I'm not sure about the conf file, how it is working really because I have a bat file which using that config up here. But the conf file containing some different stuff. I'm confused a little bit Sad Any ideas, suggestions?

thanks guys

p.s. the first machine which working with the nice kh/s working with 6 Gb memory, the others are only with 4 Gb. Is this could be an issue?

modded VTC cgminer more reliable than verminer.  If you stop/start more than once using vertminer, only reboot windows can resolve the one card failed issues.

I think people who forget (or even worse, don't care) to put the "X" after "290" are making a huuuge confusion in this thread....

Running PowerColor PCS R9 290 on system with 8GB of ram (bios jumper on graphic card moved to "performance" mode) on chakra linux:

Environment vars:
Code:
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1;
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=200;

Calling line:
Code:
./vertminer --scrypt-vert --config ./r9290_sick.conf --compact

r9290_sick.conf configuration file:

Code:
{
"pools" : [
 {
  "url" : "stratum+tcp://stratum.vtcpool.co.uk:3333",
  "user" : "myuser.myworker",
  "pass" : "pass"
 }
],

"gpu-engine" : "1000",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500",
"gpu-powertune" : "50",
"intensity" : "20",
"temp-target" : "95",
"temp-overheat" : "100",
"temp-cutoff" : "102",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "24550"

}

This is giving me 417kH/s average, up to 435kH/s in (5s). Zero HW. I don't see percentage of stalled shares but I have 12 after running for more than 3 hours.

Any idea how to squeeze even more performance?

with intensity over 12 i reiceve only hw errors  Undecided
I have the same problem,  Huh

I can see people using the option --scrypt-vert?  Huh

I can't see it with vertminer --help, only see the option --scrypt or --nscrypt...

anyone can help us  Huh

Changing the algo wont help you get accepted shares (i.e. the --scrypt option). Different versions (vertminer or GCminerAleks) have different options I think.

I get this HW error problem on my R9 270 when I have -g 2. When -g is set to 1 I can run much higher intensities and TCs (12288 seems optimal for me). If I push it I can get about 200 kh/s but generally running at about 195 kh/s.

Anyone have a compiled version of vertminer 0.5.4 for windows? Also, what's new in it?

What is going wrong? Do you know how to create a .bat file to run vertminer? Create a simple one with just your pool address (no extra settings, you can optimize later) and run vertminer. Also, if you add "timeout 60" (remove the quotes) to the last line of your bat file, you can see any errors before it closes. Failing that simply double click on vertminer and manually add in your pool address, user, password etc when prompted.

Also, make sure you have the correct drivers and AMD SDK installed.

I just like to let you guys now if you run several GPUs and VetCgminer does disable a random gpu for no reason (which really happens all the time) simply restart cgminer as many times as all gpus got found, I know how stupid that sounds, but it usually works. There is no single time I reboot my rig and start mining vtc without having cgminer tell me a GPU got disabled, it's always a different gpu btw. I hope in future there will be a better solution as a update for cgminer.

I compiled HEAD branch of https://github.com/Bufius/vertminer-gpu.git on Fedora 19, but didn't look at the NEWS file, so didn't see that now the --scrypt option means litecoin scrypt, and I was getting 100% rejects.  As soon as I changed the option to --nscrypt, I started getting 100% accepts.

I doubt there are any precompiled versions.  I don't run windows.

Any changes to 0.5.4?

--------------------------------------- EDIT notes --------------------
This post is becoming more about getting the Asus Radeon R9 290X running on Fedora 19 than just about vertminer-gpu 0.5.4.pre2.  It will also provide material for the vertcoin.org gpu-miner-build-howto.

I will be fixing some confusion between ADL-SDK and AMD-APP-SDK below, and adding more details about what it took to get an Asus Radeon R9 290X running on Fedora 19.  But I can't get it all done today
so I want to post the incomplete revisions to avoid losing them and to avoid leaving incorrect information online.

ICD files:
The OpenCL™ ICD (Installable Client Driver) is a means of allowing multiple OpenCL™ implementations to co-exist and applications to select between them at runtime.  The files seem to give the names of the shared library files for the AMD-APP-SDK.

The vertcoin.org gpu-miner-build-howto suggests editing these files to add full path to the library.  I don't think that is what the designers of ICD expected, but apparently it works.  AMD expects to use LD_LIBRARY_PATH to specify where to look for the named libraries...

-------------------------------------- end EDIT notes ---------------

I was just following the build instructions for linux, which specified downloading the latest git version. Then I tried to follow sample configurations from this thread, but the meaning of the --scrypt option has changed.

vertminer-gpu 0.5.4 adds support for ADL (AMD Display Library), version 6, among other things.

Code:
2014-02-12 20:54 Bufius             o [master] [origin/HEAD] [origin/master] fixed unexpected build issues
2014-02-12 20:22 Bufius             o fixed wrong variable type in ocl.c
2014-02-12 20:08 Bufius             o miner prepared for normal scrypt + nfactor scrypt
2014-02-08 22:10 Bufius             o remove unneeded files
2014-02-08 22:08 Bufius             o autogeneration
2014-02-08 21:35 Bufius             o and again the adl stuff...
2014-02-08 21:27 Bufius             o correct adl_functions.h
2014-02-08 21:24 Bufius             o Revert "include corrrect adl_functions.h"
2014-02-08 21:21 Bufius             o include corrrect adl_functions.h
2014-02-08 21:05 Bufius             o ADL6 support
2014-02-03 18:02 Bufius             o [origin/0.5.3] bump to 0.5.3

You could see all the gory details at the github site, if only you already knew how to use github...  (I just learned yesterday, and can't explain it).

I have an Asus R9 290X and I installed catalyst 14.1 beta for linux, (with some difficulty because the 14.1beta Fedora package is not available yet).

So I think I needed ADL6.  If so, I also needed vertminer-gpu 0.5.4.

(Someone please draw the attention of the maintainer of http://vertcoin.org/gpu-miner-build-howto.html to these comments about the problems with the AMD-APP-SDK installer).

I highly disrecommend the AMD installer for the AMD-APP-SDK.  It puts global definition of LD_LIBRARY_PATH into /etc/profile, which impacts load time of everything on the system forever more unless you erase it.   See http://www.cc.dtu.dk/?page_id=304, "LD_LIBRARY_PATH – or: How to get yourself into trouble!"

Also, if you did happen to have "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH and some other stuff on the same line" in /etc/profile, it erases it the other stuff without notice, replacing it with just export LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

The AMD installer also does nice things like executing (as root) rm -rf $dirname, when it is not immediately obvious that dirname cannot be /.  So I don't trust it.  Also it is written, for no good reason, in perl.  The person who wrote it is obviously not an experienced sysadmin.

To install AMD-APP-SDK 2.9, I just untarred it: mkdir AMD-APP-SDK; cd AMD-APP-SDK; tar zxvf AMD-APP-SDK-v2.9-lnx64.tgz.

Code:
-rw-rw-r-- cas/cas   150269240 2013-10-30 06:52 AMD-APP-SDK-v2.9-RC-lnx64.tgz
-rwxr-xr-x cas/cas       11466 2013-10-30 06:40 default-install_lnx_64.pl
-rwxr-xr-x cas/cas         226 2013-10-30 06:40 icd-registration.tgz
-rwxrwxrwx cas/cas         289 2013-10-30 06:40 Install-AMD-APP.sh
-rwxr-xr-x cas/cas        6678 2013-10-30 06:40 ReadMe.txt
Note the inappropriate permissions, and the user/group not being root:root.  I fixed them with chown root:root * and chmod go-w * and chmod a-x *.tgz *.txt
(Actually, I should have used the tar option to ignore the specified user/group, since this is always happening when root untars something.)

icd-registration.tgz untars to

Code:
drwxr-xr-x cas/cas           0 2013-06-10 01:33 etc/
drwxr-xr-x cas/cas           0 2013-06-10 01:33 etc/OpenCL/
drwxr-xr-x cas/cas           0 2013-06-10 01:34 etc/OpenCL/vendors/
-rwxr-xr-x cas/cas          15 2013-06-10 01:34 etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl64.icd
-rwxr-xr-x cas/cas          15 2013-06-10 01:33 etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl32.icd

I put those files into /etc, correcting the ownership and removing the execute permission from the .icd files.

Code:
$ find /etc/OpenCL -ls
1493085    0 drwxr-xr-x   1 root     root           14 Feb 18 22:43 /etc/OpenCL
1493086    0 drwxr-xr-x   1 root     root           48 Feb 19 08:58 /etc/OpenCL/vendors
1609357    4 -rw-r--r--   1 root     root           15 Jun 10  2013 /etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl64.icd
1613003    4 -rw-r--r--   1 root     root           15 Jun 10  2013 /etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl32.icd
$ head /etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl*
==> /etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl32.icd <==
libamdocl32.so
==> /etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl64.icd <==
libamdocl64.so

The I untarred AMD-APP-SDK-v2.9-RC-lnx64.tgz, which happens to produce a  single directory named AMD-APP-SDK-v2.9-RC-lnx64.  I corrected the ownership, removed group other write permissions, moved or removed any existing /opt/AMDAPP directory, and moved AMD-APP-SDK-v2.9-RC-lnx64 to /opt/AMDAPP.

Then, instead of using LD_LIBRARY_PATH forever more, I just told the build process where the libraries are going to be:

Code:
CFLAGS="-g -O2 -Wall" LDFLAGS="-L/opt/AMDAPP/lib/x86_64/" ./configure --prefix=$HOME

You can also avoid doing any of this as root if you take the hint from http://devgurus.amd.com/message/1299447 and use OPENCL_VENDOR_PATH to give the path to the data from icd-registration.tgz, and use the configure time LDFLAGS variable to give the path to where you put the contents of AMD-APP-SDK-v2.9-RC-lnx64.tgz.  (Just don't move it afterward or you need to rebuild or use LD_LIBRARY_PATH).

./vertminer --scrypt-vert -o startum -u user -p pwd -I 12 --thread-concurrency 4096 --shaders 2048 -g 2 -w 256 --auto-gpu
-->185kh/s per 7970 no HW

./vertminer --scrypt-vert -o startum -u user -p pwd -I 13 --thread-concurrency 4096 --shaders 2048 -g 2 -w 256 --auto-gpu
-->330kh/s per 7970 100% HW

I have the same bad hashrate with vertminer 0.5.4pre and vertminer 0.5.3...

When you use I -13 and TC=8192, does it create a "4032" bin file?
After rebooting the rig, I manage to pull 4x7970 at 250kh/s each.
But I can't set vertminer above intensity 12.
I 12 : 0% HW
I 13 : 100% HW

Yes, I have a 4032 bin file.

The first step is to add -I 13 (works for almost everybody), then go from there. Take a look at settings at http://www.verters.com/vertcoin-hardware-list

edit: well, nobody on that list has an R7 card. Basically, you're going to be using much lower thread concurrency settings since your card only has 320 shaders. You get a hint of where to start from the .bin file that's created when you first run. It will have tcNNNN in the file name.
