Hey guys.  I've got a 7970 which gets 780khs on scrypt so i should be getting 390 here but i can barely get 290. I've tried Thekevs, 0.5.2 and 0.5.3.  I've tried lots of settings including the usual 8192 and I 13.  As well as both batch and conf files.

Thekevs:
"rawintensity" : "16384",
"worksize" : "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "8191",
"temp-cutoff" : "77",
"expiry" : "30",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "0",
"scan-time" : "1",
"device" : "0",
"shaders" : "2048",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"scrypt-vert" : true
}

0.5.3
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
vertminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://us.bitcrush.info:3444 -u x -p x -I 13 --auto-gpu --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-threads 2 --shaders 2048 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192 --temp-cutoff 77

Any advice?  Thanks

HELP!

I've tried using all my dogecoin settings, and even pasting some of the settings here, but have not managed to break more than 11 KH/s with vertminer Sad

My tried-and-true settings for dogecoin on my 7850 usually give me 346 KH/s:
-intensity 12 --gpu-threads 2 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1200 --shaders 1024 --thread-concurrency 4096 --worksize 256

but even with the thread concurrency in half, I still can't get much higher than 12 KH/s.

what am I doing wrong? gpu has 2GB of memory, and system has 4GB of ram.

After much tweaking I've got my 7850's up to 175+kh/s on vertminer (BAMT)

    "worksize": "64",
    "intensity": "19",
    "thread-concurrency" : "8192",
    "shaders" : "1280",
    "gpu-engine" : "980",
    "gpu-memclock" : "1250",
    "gpu-vddc" : "0",
    "gpu-powertune" : "0",
    "gpu-threads" : "1",
    "lookup-gap" : "2",
    "queue": "0",

MSI HD7850 (single fan) 2GB 7850's, these are currently performing better than my Asus 270's.

Not used to using the vertminer config file, I simply rename vertminer.example.conf to vertminer.conf right? After I edit the URL and Login/Pass of course.

I get these errors:

Fatal JSON error in configuration file
Configuration file could not be used

here's my config file:
Code:

}

Sorry for my noobiness but I'm used to using .bat files.

EDIT: good news / bad news. I put the commands into the bat file, and I get 177 KH/s, but I have around 20% hardware errors

EDIT 2: now they're averaging down to less than 10%. I know any HW errors are bad but this is so much better than before, thanks!

Great thread so far guys, keep it up!

I'm just getting started with scrypt-adaptive here, feels like scrypt all over again, doesn't it?  Grin

Here's my findings so far on a pair of Asus R7 260x's. Bonaire's a pain in the rear as usual. I'll post for my 7870LE's, 6950, 7950's, 7850's, and R9 290's as I figure them all out and optimize them. I thought I'd work on Bonaire first since there's not much info out there.

I'm mining with CGMinerAleks_NR3, as I can't get anything to work on these Bonaire cards with Vertminer 0.5.3.

Here's my .bat:

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o x -u x -p x --failover-only -o x -u x -p x --no-submit-stale --gpu-platform 0 -w 256 -v 1 -I 20 --lookup-gap 4 --gpu-threads 1 --gpu-fan 65 --thread-concurrency 14208 --gpu-engine 1200 --gpu-memclock 1800 --gpu-powertune 20

This nets me around 117khs per card. No HW errors. Strangely I got the best results with one thread and a lookup gap of 4. It looks like these cards can be pretty energy efficient if you have enough of them going, but I wouldn't run out and buy a bunch of them. They only pull about 250khs on normal scrypt.

If this helps anybody, feel free to tipmeh!!!  Cheesy

VTC - VaLt5ZKjorSb5mdLfzDvCbiznpxkaFwgWS

only config that works for me

thanks!

running 5 sapphire r9 290s with the following settings:

vertminer --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://xxxxxxxxx -u x -p x -g 1 -w 256 -I 20 --thread-concurrency 32765 --gpu-fan 100 --api-listen
gpus fixed to 924mhz, temps around 71-82°. getting  ~2.1 mh/s.

played with the memory clocks but iam just able to get more hashes but lower WU, so i decided to keep it this way. the hw error problems does not seem to affect the 290s, so i stick to -I 20, getting 0 HW. WU is arround 95% of current hashrate.

How are you doing that? I can't get it to start with those settings. Vertminer says TC is too high.

Are you sure you have enough RAM?

8GB of RAM and 100GB pagefile as well.

Hello everybody

I have 4 Powercolor 280x turboduo.

I cant get the cards over 291 kh/s each. Something very strange about my cards is that i have to set gpu thread 1 instead of the usual gpu thread 2 i use when mining other scrypt coins.

I have GA-F2A85X-UP4, Amd A4-5300 and 4 gb ram.

Any ideas what i should try? I have tried to play around with the gpu core speed. I still dont get over 291 kh/s

m50b25 Probably not enough ram. If you've got another 4 GB lying around, try adding it to this system and see whether hashrate goes up.. you should have 360+ KHash/sec at those clocks. I've got 355K from 7970 @ 1000/1250, so your 1080/1500 should give more.

Using -g 2 with -I 13 should always be possible on a 280x, I think. Your engine clock is possibly way too high for it. Did you try changing the thread concurrency + or - 1 (8191 or 8193)? One other thing that has occasionally been useful for me is to try different Catalyst versions.

You didn't say what kind of error or failure you were getting when attempting -g 2.

edit: oh yeah, try worksize 128 too.

Here's my config file, it based on what I found in this topic and edited.

I saw there were some 7950s running more then 300 kh/s, I'm so far from that result ;/ What would you suggest?
thanks:)

Does going to a higher thread concurrency make the HW errors go away? How much higher does it need to be, and does that cost you any hash rate? Then you may have some headroom with your memory clock, don't know if you've tested that to the point of glitches/failures. Higher memory speed at a good error-free TC could help you get more out of the high engine clock. But you'll probably want to reoptimize engine too at that point. Also, have you tried at all with 2 for gpu-threads (at low TC and intensity)? Hope this helps.

Don't know how high can I go with TC? Tried a random 35400 but it ended with a BSOD. With TC=29400 hashing speed decreased to about 200 kh/s per card and there are still as many HWs. I was getting many HWs even with the video cards on stock settings and with a blank config file.

with 2 gpu threads, intensity 18, and TC 21000 (I can't set it lower because vertminer says I need to decrease TC or increase LG) I'm having 220 kh/s per card and a little less HWs.

No matter what I do, I'm still having HWs and not more than 280 kh/s, help Cheesy

Okay in that case it's acting like a bad card, but that could also be PCI-e slot or riser or some BIOS setting. Both cards behave identically? I would try to confirm the bad behavior as a hardware level thing by downloading a USB-bootable Linux miner like BAMT, and failing that, either switch to Linux or try different Catalyst driver versions in Windows. @wacko's suggestion to try more system RAM might help, and I've heard dual channel (two sticks) vs single can make a difference.

But before all of that, make sure -g2 is having the same problems. For -g2 you start by dropping TC all the way to 8192 and intensity to 13. I'm actually surprised the miner started at all with 2 threads and those other settings as high as you said.

I know. I should be able to use -g 2. Yes i already tried using thred concurrency 8191 and 8193. I usually use 8193 when mining other scrypt coins. I will try lowering the core speed but i seriously doubt it will do anything because i already tried lowering to 1030 mhz.
With that config i have and using -g 2 i get 745 kh/s when mining ltc. And the cards are stable for weeks.
I will post later today what kind of error i get in vertminer when using -g 2

I am using a Powercolor Radeon 7950 to mine VTC (with an nvidia gpu and ocasional other hardware)
anyway i have used GPU-Z to max out the gpu memory usage to the limit.

i use the following in my conf.. cgwatcher reports 260 on average (card is dedicated for mining on Win7 x64)

"intensity" : "18",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "22400",
"shaders" : "1792",
"gpu-engine" : "1000",
"gpu-fan" : "60",
"gpu-memclock" : "1400",
"gpu-memdiff" : "0",
"gpu-powertune" : "0",
"gpu-vddc" : "0.000",
"temp-cutoff" : "95",
"temp-overheat" : "85",
"temp-target" : "75",
"gpu-threads" : "1",

what i did was i multiplied my stream processor count.. 1792 x 12 = 21504 thread-concurrency then i added a bit more with an equal amount to max it out speed wise.
i report no hardware errors with all this.

but i get errors using far less concurrency and far less intensity.. the key issue is finding the sweet spot.
since i am using vertminer-0.5.2 work size is stuck on 256 ..won't matter if you change it.. same with 0.5.3 (i get same hash rate fiddling around with that one)
various 7950's by different companies and even the same model can act very differently so listening to 50 pages of people telling you to use their settings is dumb.
at best use it as a guideline to find what works best for you..
And what i said earlier was i experimented using GPU-Z to maximize the amount of ram on the gfx card that is used.. how much are you using ?
read the cgminer doc's files for info on scrypt tuning too maybe.. that is where i got the idea to do what i did Wink
hint you *should be using the correct multiples.. and not random odd numbers either.. use even numbers (@guy above me talking)

I've got a 6x R9 280x BAMT distro mining currently... What steps do I have to take to get it to mine Vertcoins? Is it even doable on BAMT? Or any Linux distro out there? (Windows won't recognise 6 GPU's)+1

I am having 3 asus r9 280x cards and with the following settings one card is getting 16K/hash can you please let me know how to get proper hash on all 3 cards

vertminer.exe --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://gns.pool.mn:3333 -u xxx -p xxxx -w 256,256,256 -I 13,13,13 -g 2 --lookup-gap 2,2,2 --gpu-powertune -20,-20,-20 --temp-overheat 85,85,85 --temp-cutoff 90,90,90 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500,1500 --gpu-engine 1000,1000,1000 --thread-concurrency 8191,8191,8191

m50b25 Probably not enough ram. If you've got another 4 GB lying around, try adding it to this system and see whether hashrate goes up.. you should have 360+ KHash/sec at those clocks. I've got 355K from 7970 @ 1000/1250, so your 1080/1500 should give more.

I could just borrow 4 gb from one of my other rigs just to try that. Thanks

Hello everybody

I have 4 Powercolor 280x turboduo.

I cant get the cards over 291 kh/s each. Something very strange about my cards i that i have to set gpu thread 1 instead of the usual gpu thread 2 i use when mining other scrypt coins.

I have GA-F2A85X-UP4, Amd A4-5300 and 4 gb ram.

Any ideas what i should try? I have tried to play around with the gpu core speed. I still dont get over 291 kh/s
...

No luck at all. I was able to use -g 2 with 8gb ram but i dont get any better hashrate. It just gets worse. I have tried just about every setting i can find. different tc, core speed, memory, intensity, lookup-gap. Yeah you name it.

Here is someone who posted in this thread at page 41. He got 4x powercolor 280x turboduo just like me. I tried his config. Stil not getting any better hashrate.

Here are two pictures of cgminer and config with -g2 and -g 1
The rig was running about 20 minutes with each config.
