The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

So what to do... I have 2 new 220V 30 Amp circuits going into the basement next week.

What miners to buy to run on them... my single 15 amp circuit is full of ant miners now...

Start planning to resell your Antminer S1 units
Still some weeks before S2 ships. If you order S1 now you can hash with them good 2 weeks. Like if you order 6 Antminers NOW you can mine good +1 BTC with them before that S2 ships out. Then sell the gear and buy S2.

I'd probably go with the mine the hell out of some antminer s'1s for two weeks, sell on ebay for little under what you got them for, or auction and see the biggest fool pay for 180 gh/s, and put proceeds to the 1 th/s miners. (s2) You could get some gpu rigs and run scrypt/n-jane/keccak/ whatever if you so desire as well.....

So then I am not getting an S2 an extra S1 or my 6.7BTC back?

I suppose your not as bad as hashlast at least.  I mean they charged 73BTC and don't even have the decency to threaten me with scammer tags for asking them to send me a product or a refund or at least a picture of a middle finger.

Meh.

Any more details? What did you tried? Why you didnt succeed? ANd what next?

All I can do is ask them.  As I said one order updated to paid and turned green after the first email calling me a scammer.

I don't know what's up with the other order.  I just find it disturbing that asking about orders which showed up all wonky under my account resulted in bitmain calling me a scammer.

That really does not sound like any of my multiple experiences with Bitmain. They have always responded to my emails courteously, and typically within 16 hours or less.

is it worth it ?

How much do you have to pay for the miners and how much is electricity?

On average I pay 12.6p per kw - is that good compared to else where ? = 0.21$

Miner cost will be about 0.89BTC or less + I will need setup hardware - switches + racks + PSU (Server)

Looking to built a 100Th/s Farm or higher

Just need to calculate will it pay

Cheers

Yes. I did some numbers on bitcoinwisdom.com with these assumptions:

There will be a 20% increase of difficulty every time (highly unlikely)
You are running 500 antminer s1's at 200 gh/s, 400w apiece.
BtC/ USD = 624
$/kwh is .21
Antminer is .89 each, no other costs.
With  all that, breakeven for 100 th/s is 81 days, with a 20% increase difficulty every two weeks, and power costs are factored in as well.

Thanks for that, Also did some figures on the thegenesisblock. Says up till June will only be profit after that will be in  the negative Sad

No matter how much I could invest the costs don't weigh up the profits + if say I buy 500 S1's within a month or two these will be come old hardware :/

Trying to get the business model right Sad

Then sell them on Ebay. Plenty of fools there. Put into s2's. Rinse and repeat. Or you could rent out gh/s and do cloud mining.

how long should a power supply have to run these antminers because I can declare it's 100% stable?  1 day? 2 days? 12 hrs?

Hardly anyone speaks English on this forum.

Is it possible to underclock the Antminer so it uses less juice?

I don't see why. Your literally asking it to work less, so it could do it. Of course to a certain extent, then you have to go into voltage changing , swapping resistors, etc.I'd assume 10%, over or underclock.

Is it possible to underclock the Antminer so it uses less juice?

Yes, definitely.  If you ssh into your S1, edit the /etc/config/asic-freq file, there are options for underclocking:

Code:
        #option 'freq_value'    '4c81'  #325M
        #option 'chip_freq'     '325'
        #option 'timeout'       '40'

        #option 'freq_value'    '0b81'  #300M
        #option 'chip_freq'     '300'
        #option 'timeout'       '45'

        #option 'freq_value'    '0981'  #250M
        #option 'chip_freq'     '250'
        #option 'timeout'       '55'

        #option 'freq_value'    '0781'  #200M
        #option 'chip_freq'     '200'
        #option 'timeout'       '70'

        #option 'freq_value'    '4f02'  #193M
        #option 'chip_freq'     '193'
        #option 'timeout'       '70'

Uncomment the line you'd like to run at and reboot your S1.  That's all there is to it.
