According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

guys, https://darkcointalk.org/  is down for quite a long time Sad what's going on?
Quote
An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later.

maybe DDOS'ed. Too many haters already.

There are quite a few coins that have been around for a lot longer than Darkcoin. Imagine how you would feel if you had spent months and months working on something, or you were an investor and had spent months and months waiting for the price to rise, then out of nowhere comes this new f*ing coin that's been going for a few months and it gets to Nr.3

Yeah, I'd say there are plenty of people that picked the wrong horse and are pissed.

And Luke, what makes you think this was a bot and not just someone trying to get out? I keep hearing all these bots are manipulating the market and yet there is absolutely zero proof for it. Seems like an easy way to detract from the point that we are in a clear downturn from the last rise, something which should be over after the next flashcrash.

1) If you want to get out, you don't stack low volume sell orders down, pushing the price and making less, and certainly at the end of that cycle you don't buy more.
Which is what happened.

2) If you want to get out, you stack low volume up, support buy and drop the hammer all the way down.
You certainly don't buy even more after forcing flash shake out.
Which is what happened.

If you follow history closely, a very, very nice cycle is emerging - not seen since Bitcoin/Litecoin - and the direction is very clear.
Let's revisit in a week.

RC = Release Candidate

When it says stable release and you get hiccups, then you should ask questions.

If you've ever been involved in a serious IT project, you will know this is normal and part of the process to get long-term stability.

Litecoin faced much worse problems not that long ago as one of the lead developers noted:

Quote
...I saved Litecoin from death.  Litecoin was in very bad shape before I joined development.  It was almost a year since the previous release and the old buggy software had several known security vulnerabilities.  Litecoin was only then becoming popular for the first time as GPU's began fleeing Bitcoin ASICs.  After months of work on 0.8, we were fortunately prepared to make an emergency 0.6 security update when we learned of a live DoS attack taking down old 0.6.3 nodes.

https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=15444.msg123788#msg123788

Litecoin went on to $1bn before coming back down to $300m

We got Already
89.7% of the RC2 nodes on 10.8.8
and
60.9% of stable nodes on 9.4.8
see http://poolhash.org/subver.html

Thought x.x.8 should fix the voting. But still the Masternode payments are unregular.
Are some miners/pools still on the old client? Or why is the voting not fixed?

Everyone UPDATE to the newest version!

You can setup a local / remote setup for an MN - I believe that is probably why. You can use the local wallet that has 1000DRK to "promote" the remote wallet to an MN - so you don't have to store the 1000DRK on the remote wallet.
Again - I'm pretty sure - I have this setup right now.

Oh I'm with you on the cycle. I just think we've got one more drop, before another huge uptrend. But claiming you can tell who are bots and who isn't because of one sell order is silly, how do you know the bot trades and the sell are related? unless you have access to the logs your just speculating, which ultimately makes your points less valid.

Look at the 4th address from down, how can it be that it got paid without the 1000 drk on the MN?

You can setup a local / remote setup for an MN - I believe that is probably why. You can use the local wallet that has 1000DRK to "promote" the remote wallet to an MN - so you don't have to store the 1000DRK on the remote wallet.
Again - I'm pretty sure - I have this setup right now.

But the payment would still be to the address that holds the 1k DRK. At least that was the case on testnet!
Did you already receive a payment with your local remote setup? Have mine running but nothing so far

DRK friends, is there any way to know for sure that my masternode is working OK?

My IP is in the list when I check with my darkcoind, and in another client, and on the poolhash.org list, but I haven't had any payments yet. I'm not greedy for payments but want to make sure that it's definitely working OK - is there a way to check?

Is it true Masternodes will be used for other services in the near future ?
It is important because it means new kind of payments and yet better ROI.

I think we are all in the same boat right now - I think we need to be patient.
I'm in the same boat - everything I can check to make sure it's working says that it's working - however, I have no evidence (as in payments). Will continue to wait for more info.
