The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

You first need to unlock it, did you unlock?

darkcoind walletpassphrase "password" 60 (where 60 is the number of seconds to keep the wallet unlocked

i think it would be great to have a step by step
Maternode setup guide (as the one of Chaplin)
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-1-3.240/

for other servers than Amazon !!
I read that 54 % are on Amazon (and i guess US based)
we need this to be wider spread around the globe (and off Amazon)

can anybody please do that
tx

Only major difference is what you put in /etc/iptables/rules.v4 and that you have to disable ssh pw login in favor of certs (well you don't have to I guess, but you should).

No. The MAJOR difference is that chaeplin's howto specifically ASSUMES that amazon will block all ports for you. He even has a line in his iptables to ACCEPT ALL INCOMING TRAFFIC.

That would be a huge mistake to make on another setup. I specifically told him so.

Yes, that's what I meant.  You have to block everything but 9999 and 22 and his setup doesn't do that because it's done by Amazon.

Yes

Not sure about that message, but I don't think using " instead of ' will work (if that's indeed what you're doing).

If vote is  under 6 there is no payment? I have one MN whose address shows a payment in explorer.darkcoin.io that doesn't show up in wallet. That block (74700) has less than 6 votes. Will I get the payment?
If it shows in the block explorer you will get the payment. Its just immature until it has 120 confirmations.
Run "darkcoind listtransactions" and also make sure you're up to the current block ("darkcoind getinfo")

Thanks, just received it. I guess it was just under 120 confirmations when I posted because now it is at 133.

Shouldn't all nodes reject blocks that don't contain a masternode payment?

Votes are included.

http://explorer.darkcoin.io/block/000000000006762fb2d91b0a06b02d5159b0e63a4ffde2e6871904665e465713

Minimum vite is 6.

Thanks, I have just received it but I had not when I posted.

edit:  I think a CD down at the bank would give better returns.?
I have $150,000 invested. I received about $19 in dividends today. I expected 1 coin per masternode.

I averaged only .1 DRK per masternode.

I understand, its the first day, I'm fine with that, but it should be fixed by tomorrow.

If you are invested in DRK for the MasterNode payments then I believe you are looking at this investment wrong.

ahhh right.. skimmed over your post and misread.. yeah, get new iptables rules.. it'd be easy to post them, but better that people have to look it up and try to understand than just copy/paste linux commands, which never works well in my experience

That's not what he said.  Dividends (in the form of masternode payments) are an important part of how the coin is structured, and depending on his expectations of future per-coin valuation, dividends may not be a trivial part of the equation.

Like, at all.

No block source available after updating to new wallet with -rescan switch.

Do you have addnoe in your config ?

Stop darkcoind. Remove addnode. wait 10 min.

Use -reindex
Code:
-rescan                Rescan the block chain for missing wallet transactions
-reindex               Rebuild block chain index from current blk000??.dat files

I looked away from it and it started working by itself eventually, on two separate systems.

I agree that the dividends should not be the only factor, but it is a factor. I there were no dividends I would still keep my drk because I think it will be worth much more than now, but I would not put them on a server and would not be helping the network. Anyway, maybe some of his payments are still pending. I just got one that was generated a few hours ago because they may need 120 confirmations. The network has been stable only for a few hours after the forks, so that number is probably gonna be much higher for his 10 MNs after 24 hours
