Guys. I want to announce you all that after long periond TODAY at 7:12 for me and for my wife is BORN our first..... 0.7 DRK. LOL!!! so excited Smiley Great feeling. Now I can drink with you JD Wink Try it if you didn't yet, 1000drk is worth of it.

ROLF! I really thought you were going to announce a child  Smiley

I've already been lucky a couple times and man, that feels good!

Couple of times on 1 MN or spread out over more?

Still waiting for a payment... not being greedy, I just want to know if my MN setup is working or not Sad

Different masternodes, but I have only set up two, so I guess I'm being lucky  Grin Grin

Be patient, it's still too soon to tell. Have you checked your MN's address in the blockchain? You may not have the payment in your wallet yet because they need a lot of confirmations, but it may be there.

yep checked the blockchain. nothing there.
I know it's too soon and that I should be patient. I'm just worried that there's no other way (at least that I know of) to check if your MN is working properly besides getting payed...

Some in-client update notification mechanism would be nice (something like https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=464841)

My masternode receive just this error, no payment:

2014-05-25 23:09:32 !coins.IsAvailable COutPoint(cfa73aeff245e44e86b9d18a703c471cfa8a7621e8a86eb48e97928edb077837, 1)

I don't know what to do Cry

Hi,

Nobody has the same issue  Huh

Do darkcoind listaddressgroupings
or darkcoind getbalance 0

What's the result ?

1000 DRK ?

darkcoind listaddressgroupings
[
    [
        [
            "My DRK address",
            1000.00000000,
            "masternode"
        ]
    ]
]

BUT
darkcoind getbalance 0
0.00000000

I sent another message with my darkcoin.conf too:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
listen=1

maxconnections=200

externalip= My Elastic EC2 external IP

masternode=1
addnode=23.23.186.131

masternodeprivkey= My key generate by darkcoind masternode genkey

So I have to start like that?

#darkcoind
#darkcoind walletpassphrase 'My wallet password' 60
#darkcoind masternode start 'My wallet password'

Previously I started with just:
#darkcoind
#darkcoind masternode start 'My wallet password'

Can someone clarify this please? Quote from above: 1x Masternode = 576 blocks * 10% of the reward = 1036DRK/day

I thought 24 hours x 60 minutes / 2.5 minute blocks = 576 blocks per day

Block reward = 5 darkcoins per block.  Therefore, 576 x 5 = 2,880 darkcoins per day

10% = 288 darkcoins per day

288 / 371 MNs = 0.776 darkcoins per masternode per day
That math sounds right to me.
Ok, if the maths is right then, ANNUAL return per MN based on number of MNs:

371 = 28.3%
500 = 21%
750 = 14%
1000 = 10.5%
1500 = 7%
2000 = 5%

This is based on the price at the time you buy the MNs and assumes the price does not change.

Therefore, in time the system will probably level out at 2,000 MNs for a 5% return.  However, this implies 2 Million darks, which is almost 50% of current coin supply.

This also implies the price of Darks are likely to skyrocket, if people kept trying to setup MNs.
For example, if people tried to setup 1,000 MNs, this would tie up almost 25% of total coins, to generate a 10.5% return on investment over a year + upside on darkcoin price.

No doubt about it, darkcoins are the best investment of 2014.

Excellent helpful post, thank you! But it actually confirms that you get what the graph says, doesn`t it? So I don`t get what the other guy with the $ 150.000 invested was saying who was worried that you get much less per MN than expected? Or was it already fixed (I`m a IT noob, but I`m reading EVERY post in here since the first, but I still have problems understanding what the code experts post).

My 1st 0.7 drk too  Tongue
That's $10 per day x 365 = $3,650.

Even if you bought in at $14, which I doubt it. That's a return of $3,650 / $14,000 = 26% not including darkcoin's future price appreciation.

Wow, thats a crazy good ROI, which is also leveraged by DRK/ BTC price appreciation. Huge potential. Yikes.

1) Are there a limit to the number of masternodes?

2) what is the status of the fork at this instant (4:30 AM EST)? Give me the low-tech overview. Has it not gone as smoothly as planned? Was it even supposed to go as/more smoothly than it has? How much is remains to be done; actual and potential problems etc? What does tomorrow/ later this afternoon look like?

Thanks.
No hard limit on MNs but my calcs indicate it will level out at 2,000 MNs:

1500 = 7%
2000 = 5%

Majority of people are on the right fork, AFAICT.  I think deployment has gone very well, as in if I was the dev I would be happy. There is some discussion whether the MNs are being paid properly and something to do with the voting system per block.

I can't see any major issues.  People just need to update their wallets to 9.4.8 and 10.8.8 respectively (without darksend and with darksend).  I don't know status of mac wallet.

Suggest, people get their MNs up before price skyrockets further.

Do I misunderstand how the 6 votes will show up on the explorer?  On this block nobody has 6 votes, but it looks like an MN was still paid.  Or is this not the payout from that actual block - just the tx from an earlier one?

http://explorer.darkcoin.io/block/00000000000f387672e08c5cb16268517dbc5dde68ac0214e379c781a4dde40d

Actually it looks like that MN has been paid twice already...

http://explorer.darkcoin.io/address/mxoE9KG5QTmf4M8pmiGyyFp5Dpxkeu6i11

Yeah that's unexpected, maybe it's misreporting votes then.

74850 has 6.

block 1   ---> vote got 6 with address a/pubkey x
block 2
block 3
block 4
block 5
block 6
block 7  ---> paid with address a/pubkey x, block 1 votes are removed.

So you can find vote result by current paid block. check previous block.

Mother of god I didn't every consider how the masternode network could put a serious squeeze on the supply. I bought in a 125K sats because the coin supply was so low, and was going to stay low. DRK is one of the only coins with a reasonable, non-hyperinflation coin supply. I never thought of 1000DRK as that many until the price went up, which incentiveizes more people to build MN, which dramatically reduces a very limited supply. Genius.

Most alts before PoS have absurdly rapid issuance. For example, DOGE people dont realize the primary cause of DOGE's fall: Supply is WAY outstripping demand. The market cap has been stable in the 30-35M range, however the supply has gown 20-40 in just months%.

I didn't actually see the other chart.  I did my own calcs.  If real payments are more than 0.776 darkcoins based on 371 MNs, then we are going to be very richly rewarded. My calcs are based on actual block reward and the current number of MNs, and what should theoretically be paid.

Yeah, waiting for the first one is a bit nerve racking. I wish I could help. If the MN shows with 1 next to it everywhere (darkcoin.io, drk.poolhash.org, darcoind masternode list in MN and masternode list in any local wallet) you should be ok. You can also check in .darcoin/debug.log and see if it is engaging with the network (I don't understand everything in there, but if you read a bit you should see it checking in the network and being part of transactions if you search by IP).

No hard limit on MNs but my calcs indicate it will level out at 2,000 MNs:

For some reason I really thought Evan said there'd be a hard limit to masternodes, either 400 or 4000, but I can't find the post.

I definitely remember reading the same thing, just don't remember the number.  He said that too many would do more harm than good.

My masternode receive just this error, no payment:

2014-05-25 23:09:32 !coins.IsAvailable COutPoint(cfa73aeff245e44e86b9d18a703c471cfa8a7621e8a86eb48e97928edb077837, 1)
2014-05-25 23:09:32 ERROR: CTxMemPool::acceptableInputs() : inputs already spent

up to date 10.8.8, sync OK, masternode visible from http://darkcoin.io/masternodes.txt and http://drk.poolhash.org/darksend.html and by a separate client

I don't know what to do Cry

Hi,

Nobody has the same issue  Huh

Do darkcoind listaddressgroupings
or darkcoind getbalance 0

What's the result ?

1000 DRK ?

darkcoind listaddressgroupings
[
    [
        [
            "My DRK address",
            1000.00000000,
            "masternode"
        ]
    ]
]

BUT
darkcoind getbalance 0
0.00000000

I sent another message with my darkcoin.conf too:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
listen=1
server=1
daemon=1
logtimestamps=1
maxconnections=200

externalip= My Elastic EC2 external IP

masternode=1
addnode=23.23.186.131

masternodeprivkey= My key generate by darkcoind masternode genkey

So I have to start like that?

#darkcoind
#darkcoind walletpassphrase 'My wallet password' 60
#darkcoind masternode start 'My wallet password'

Previously I started with just:
#darkcoind
#darkcoind masternode start 'My wallet password'

hmm

setaccount <darkcoinaddress> <account>

darkcoind listtransactions masternode will show address.
how about change "masternode" to 0

I didn't actually see the other chart.  I did my own calcs.  If real payments are more than 0.776 darkcoins based on 371 MNs, then we are going to be very richly rewarded. My calcs are based on actual block reward and the current number of MNs, and what should theoretically be paid.

I was reffering to this:

Shouldn't all nodes reject blocks that don't contain a masternode payment?

Votes are included.

http://explorer.darkcoin.io/block/000000000006762fb2d91b0a06b02d5159b0e63a4ffde2e6871904665e465713

Minimum vite is 6.

What needs to happen to get 6 votes in every block?

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say there was a lot of disappointment with maternode payments today. We expected 10% of the block rewards, not 10% of the block reward on 10% of the blocks.

This needs to be fixed or a lot of people will cash out on their masternodes.

Your post sounds to me as if he is wrong.

He said it, I'm sure. But I think it was a very high number that he did not expect to reach because there would not be easily available coins. The number that comes to my mind is 10000 but I'm not sure at all.

AFAIK, people are getting paid 0.7 Darks per MN.  It will take time for everyone to be paid over 24 hours.

Ok, if the maths is right then, ANNUAL return per MN based on number of MNs:

371 = 28.3%
500 = 21%
750 = 14%
1000 = 10.5%
1500 = 7%
2000 = 5%

Your 'Math' is correct... but your 'Finance' can be improved...  :-)

Slight adjustment needed here as follows:
Annual return != 12 x monthly return...   =>   Annual Return = (1 + monthly return in %) ^ 12 - 1

The reason for that is that new coins are also put into 'work' and so they too generate a return (assuming they are invested in new masternodes).
If you want to do it really accurate, then it is-
Annual return = (1 + daily return in %) ^ 365 - 1

If you want a hard limit, there are only 4.3 Million darkcoins out there, implying max MNs of 4300.
