Analysis of block chains was done by academic researchers. there are several published papers of their results.

Also, others are starting to try to link IP addresses to transactions.

http://www.bitcoinsecurity.org/

Would you mind adding this datamining issue in your strategy thread, and perhaps AlexGR adding a FAQ "Why do companies need private transactions?" or something? Also perhaps linking to the wired arcticle http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-06/06/bitcoin-retail because it has a real life case where the company had to do extra steps to achieve a bit of privacy.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Strange turn of events.

1) someone discovers fedoracoin code on xc git and posts it in xc thread

2) XC price freefall. No one questions it but says it is all FUD.

3) MyFarm, points out to DRK twitter? and all hell breaks loose. He is a hero for the XC community and no one questions the fedoracoin angle

4) Not once has MyFarm come here and defended Darkcoin against everyday trolls. Has sponsored bounties to other coins to see if they can implement Darksend or other competing technologies.

5) MyFarm threatens he will dump Darkcoins. LOL

He instigated all this mess and clearly a hack. Somehow people here supposed to be afraid he might dump darkcoins. I say GTFO and good riddance.

XC has been so shady and people keep throwing Dan's linkedin profile on us. It is a shame about what he is doing, where is the professional courtesy in that. Any questions asked to him is all FUD. I also read that he might have been asked to remove the idea of any reviews since it would give away the advantage lol.

This coin v coin stuff is just bullshit. It doesn't reflect well on anyone, both coins suffer when people start acting like assholes.

Both coins have their place and have different properties. Personally I have a stock of both coins. ATCSecure says he will do a peer review today on his code. That will put an end to this episode one way or another.

I hope after that both communities can just let the other get on with their development and make their coins better.

All the time fight XC versus DRK. The real competitor is MRO, this coin I think will overpass XC and DRK soon, the technology is just better... They only need a GPU miner and a nice GUI wallet.

France has a very strong tax history....

excellent article - I think - google translate does have some issues at times.

Nice to see people from "old europe" are talking about us.

Which they will never have because their technical ability extends to 'git clone' and 'save as' and ring sigs don't scale well anyway.

Pretty good article on Darkcoin and Dark markets.

They even never did an article on Litecoin...French will directly jump from euros to Darkcoins :

Tax level above 1M€ is 75%...Politicians, entrepreneurs or millionaires are sometimes caught by the police borders in the high speed train from Paris to Geneve (Switzerland) with cash in suitcases...Ultimately, even the French Economy Minister had secrets swiss accounts...
Not saying French are mostly dishonnests (it is clearly the opposite), just fed up with taxes, and anonymous coins would firstly mean "untaxable coins" for them.
I won't be surprised if France become the 2nd country in Masternodes hosting.

Does anyone know what happened to the masternode stats site ? (http://drk.poolhash.org/darksend.html)

Whenever I accessed it during the last few days it almost hung both my browsers.

Since then, my Mac's totally screwed - spinning pizza every 30 seconds for about a minute. Tried all kinds of clean up tools including Diskwarrior. I'm going to now reformat and re-install the whole system (something I was wanting to do anyway but 'want' has now become 'need').

There was something wrong with that site. Now it seems to be down.

I'm not suggesting it was malicious - may just have been dodgy Javascript, but I haven't noticed anyone else complaining about it. It was a usefull stats page but I'm terrified to go near it now once I wipe my machine.

(I didn't have any wallets or passwords stored on that machine by the way - they're all offline in an encrypted drive.)

I don't think your 30 sec pizza problem is related to that. The site heavily relied on client-side scripting and the more data there was, the worse it got. In the end it really made my entire system lag even when it was running in a none active tab. And that's on an i7 4700.
There's nothing wrong imho. He's most likely just implementing it in a different way now, because recently it wasn't really usable. Maybe it would already be enough to cut out the fancy redraw animations.

Which they will never have because their technical ability extends to 'git clone' and 'save as' and ring sigs don't scale well anyway.

They really don't care.

It is sufficient to be mentioned in the same context, to give them the air of possibility, to keep the suckers in the game. I wouldn't have cause to say any of this had it not been for the blatant nature of the fake sheikh approach.

Thanks for all the contributions on this.

What happened to me was it hung up in Firefox. Then Safarii.

Later, when I cleaned everything (Reset safari, clear firefox cookies, run Diskwarrior), it kind of cleared, then started again whenever I went into Firefox - even if I didn't access that page.

I've had to reformat. My machine is irrecoverable. Haven't lost anything, just time, but it is clear as a sledghammer that is started as soon as I accessed that site. As I say, I'm not making any accusations - it's a very interesting site, done in good faith I'm sure, I'm just bringing this to folks attention because I'd like to use it again and for it not to lock up my machine once I've spent the next 48 hours rebuilding it  Wink

WOW.
I haven't been available much in the past two weeks (work), and am trying to grasp the events and what is going on. Just finished reading dozens of pages here, articles, some of the XC dev posts, charts....
WOW... where do I start  Smiley

1. XC - may the force be with them as well. We are not enemies of anyone. I hope they come up with good ideas and progress that we can implement as well, just as they use darkcoin's  x11.

2. DRK rich list - the 2 largest addresses hold >15%... that's over 700k coins. I find it very disturbing not bcs of possible dump, but bcs of wealth distribution.

3. masternodes 20% payments - i am not comfortable with this. my argument in a nutshell is that "again" (imho) we are "taking care" of the rich. I say again bcs:
  a. instamine - I know it was a mistake, and i know anyone could have bought EXTREMELY cheap... but as an advocate of the general public i'd say that it substantially favorable to those who mined in the first 24h.
  b. reduced No. of coins - 2 months ago, we made  decision to cut coin supply from 84m to `1/3.as an advocate of the general public, i'd say it was favorable to those already holding the coin.
  c. now masternode payments increase from 10% to 20% - yes, I understand the incentive and the will to have a more secured network... but... an advocate of the general public, i'd say it is favorable to those already holding a considerable chunk of the coin(>1000).
NOTE - if however, a 20% payment (or whatever number) started TOGETHER with ability of small bagholders to pool together their addresses and split the reward between them  - I'D BE SINGING PRAISES ALL NIGHT bcs i believe that the distribution of wealth is among the long-term most important aspects for success.

4. X11 ASIC - I would love to hear some knowledgeable answer weather there is already ASIC for x11 or not, if it is FPGA, or something else. I've came across some posts in xc thread about their hash rate fluctuations and this was the answer they gave (i didn't read all so maybe it was answered differently).

5. Rome wasn't built in a day, but we/the community/investors expected Evan to be superhuman and build everything in weeks. masternodes, payments, anonymity, new website, logo, media attention, etc..etc.. things were not tested well enough bcs we roughed Evan to deliver, and i'm sure the last few days were traumatic to him. Let that be a lesson to us all.
