Didn't mention the iPad/iPhone/iPod test (all OK) because a I'm not an Apple fan but need to have the hardware for testing purposes.
Computers with different *nux flavors (Ubuntu, BAMT miners, etc ) tests are pretty obvious (OK all), so didn't include in the list
Test on one Samsung smart TV with embedded browser (old version) and it works.

Deanonymisation of clients in Bitcoin P2P network

http://arxiv.org/pdf/1405.7418.pdf

It's about real attacks on Bitcoins privacy (features), intresting read and insights and findings should/could help on making Darkcoin safer/securer, being still in the design phase, DRK could avoid some of Bitcoins faults .

If the results are replicated and verified by several others, this could be bad news for bitcoin.

I haven't posted this anywhere before, but this research does indicate to me some importance to protecting anonymity and privacy in crypto.  It is worth sharing to highlight the importance of developing as many tools as possible to protect people and to ensure crypto work is continued and not hampered by those that would say it is too risky for individual users and should be stopped.

Satoshi must have thought about this during the early days of his development work:

Ok I found the issue: After I cleared browser history all worked.

So the issue is that the browser tried to redirect me to the https address, as it remembers that it's an https site from the past. I guess this was changed recently. So all good now. Would still be good if https address showed the site somehow since more people will be experiencing this. Issue not as big anymore though.

http://de.scribd.com/doc/227369807/Bitcoin-Coinjoin-Not-Anonymous-v01

Why CoinJoin, as Used in DarkCoin, does NOT bring Full Anonymity  - A Clarification

Abstract
Unlike widely claimed, it is shown that CoinJoin is not fully anonymous. We prove this by a simple
example.
Hence, the claim “CoinJoin (or DarkCoin) provides full anonymity” is proven wrong.

Users of crypto-currencies must be educated to be aware that solely using CoinJoin (as used
e.g. in DarkCoin) does not guarantee anonymity at all.

I know DarkCoin will do more for privacy then CoinJoin. I am just posting this to add some content and give infos for these who doesn't know this or mix things up. To have better discussions.
There is a bias because he wants to prove something and will use as many assumptions as possible to make it fits, and he uses a lot of them.

Quote
Let's assume that Address A1 (compare Transaction 1) is known to be an address that has been used for illegal activities.
That's a big assumption ! How so ?

Quote
We track back Address A18: From Transaction 2 (readable in the blockchain) we see that thefunds of A18 stem from EITHER A10 OR A13 OR A14
In the end he only guessed that A18 is connected to A1 because the owner of the later "carelessly" (other assumption) sent money to A10, without mixing.

Quote
We track back Address A6: From Transaction 1 (readable in the blockchain) we see that thefunds of A6 stem from EITHER A1 OR A2 OR A3
How can he do that ? DarkSend doesn't use a single pool to mix the transactions, but multiple masternodes to lower the probability of guessing the sender identity. He oversimplified something that is far more complex in reality. So the funds can come from a lot more addresses than just A1, A2 and A3 (same for A10, A13 and A14 above).

Average price is two thousand and seventy-two dollars.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/111597/btc_to_break_2_000_mark_by_christmas_experts

// little OffTopic, i know  Grin

sorry to bring this up,
but the average has no value.

i do understand that media loves averages,
but in a (scientific/meaningful) discussion the average is pointless.
it can so easily be manipulated by individuals. // or single points in the distribution

if you want to tell me something about distribution,
give me the median
.
Always give the median.

// nice figures, nevertheless  Cheesy

Completely agree!

Using the middle of the interval for those who give one as a prediction, the median is $1725. Completely different story.

since today I can not connect to any x11 pool with sgminer. My config has not changed.
I get always this

[19:09:06] Started sgminer 4.1.0
[19:09:06] Started sgminer 4.1.0
[19:09:07] Kernel darkcoin is experimental.
[19:09:07] Kernel darkcoin is experimental.
[19:09:17] Waiting for work to be available from pools.

Looks like pool problem.

assuming you typed your straum link in correctly, this is indeed a pool problem.

make sure you have not made any typos in the config or batch file, or command line. typos will get you.

if no typos, switch to another pool.

1    Bitcoin   $ 7,947,027,453   $ 619.09
2    Litecoin   $ 318,843,456   $ 11.05
3    Darkcoin   $ 52,733,769   $ 12.14
4    Nxt   $ 46,808,290   $ 0.046808
5    Peercoin   $ 45,744,698   $ 2.13

Dark is acting corrosively to the top altcoins.

Once DRK overtook DOGE, doge crashed from 100 satoshis to 50.

Ripple owner chose to sell.

PPC lost it's "next-to-LTC" position.

LTC prices are going down and down (0.021 -> 0.020 -> 0.019 -> 0.018 etc - as I had predicted it would happen). Instead of being BTC-on-steroids, it's losing money for BTC holders who bought it.

It's fair to say DRK is a catalyst. It's Platinum to Bitcoin's gold - but it doesn't need to be marketed as such. The "Dark" element can stand on its own pretty well combined with a good anonymity system.

BTC: The "gold"... The benchmark. The one constant that everyone goes to or uses as a measure. The property of gold is to be inert and resistant to corrosion for ages - as is Bitcoin. Altcoins come and go, altcoins evolve, Bitcoin stays the same and rules the market no matter what. Rich people hoard it, just like gold bars.

LTC: The "silver"... Silver is reflective and conductive (fast transfers). However it tarnishes over time and loses its "bling". It is also more abundant than gold (29m LTC vs 13m BTC). Silver coins are "brilliant" when exiting the mint but now we are in the tarnishing phase.

DRK: The "platinum"... Platinum is a catalyst and is used in specific applications for its catalytic properties. Doesn't corrode no matter what. It's also mined at much lesser quantities than gold (scarcer) at a ratio of 150 tons (platinum) to 2500 tons (gold) to 25000 tons (silver). Mining production and scarcity of DRK adequately positions it as the platinum. (4.4mn coins vs 13mn BTCs)

(warning: the above do not represent predictions for prices, just analogies of nature and cryptocurrencies)

Alex I like it. Nice comparison of the coins to the real mining of metals Smiley

+1, I've noticed this as well.

I made the edit to bump it in a fun way. I think there is more to it than just a nice comparison.

It actually reveals how we link value to currency and is very valid at the moment on today's psychology market.

Great fundamental display Smiley

This was hashed out on this thread a (very) long time ago, and it's why Darksend denominates both payments sent and change received.

I'm giving serious thought to offering escrow to help people set-up master nodes.

I keep hearing - I can't afford one, will never be able to get one, etc...that puts people off. That's not the main concern. My concern is that the perception of affordability leaves open the door to clones which begin to look like good value.

I have 10 mining rigs, plus another 3 PCs sitting around. So might be able to do a few private escrow wallet pools. Trust is the big issue. Am looking at technical challenges today.

Maybe if several people offered something similar, we might get people with 250 DRK to pool with others.  They operate the MN, escrow operates the wallet and weekly / bi-monthly pay outs.

edit - that does diminish the security aspect of MN. Affordability was one of the barriers to protect the network. So still undecided.

Thoughts welcome.

nice idea!

Would still be good if https address showed the site somehow since more people will be experiencing this. Issue not as big anymore though.

Look like problem exists still.

We added SSL just this last week and had to disable it while we reissue the cert. Something is wrong with it. Should be back up shortly.

You lack some reading skills.  Roll Eyes

Also what is truly sad, is that you have to make up issues to attack Darkcoin...
