To anyone helping with forking tests:

** PLEASE UPDATE TO 9.5.0 OR 10.9.0 **

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/help-test-rc2-forking-issues.1009/

You can now run masternodes with 10.9.0, binaries are available

If you want to help:

- You can mine
- You can install the wallet and just let it run, if you see the errors listed that would be incredibly helpful
- You can run a masternode

nomp is updated to 9.5.0
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

First, thanks everyone for your answers. I'll take the time to look monero since apparently if there is something strong it won't happen in the next weeks.

As for vertcoin, it's also symbolic for me since it was my first alt coin, and i bought in 3 hours before the big explosion in price a few months back.

Plus the devs are pretty solid and consistent (maybe less talented than our's one here in Darkcoin, but very good nonetheless).

I made enough off vert to keep the rest now, but my main stashs are Bitcoin and Dark, and that won't change any time soon.

I just wanted to ask here to have a more objective opinion about monero, since people tend to "oversell" their alt coins in their dedicated forum

Thanks again everyone and sorry for the digression
Vtc devs are no less talented. They chose not to develop any kind of anonymity until now. Unfortunately, stealth addresses are not adequate and does not make Vtc unique compared to Btc. Vtc is going to disappear over time unless they make something that provides true anonymity.

Monero has bugs and a bloated blockchain. Until they resolve these issues, it cannot scale to higher transaction volumes. So, probable dead end at this stage. Zero chance of success for both Vtc and monero.

Nothing in their dev paths that will give either of these coins any long term value. If they do well, it will be by pure chance they developed something amazing.

Non-technical coin. Use OZC to intro coins to everyday aussies: http://ozziecoin.com

So, not being a troll... but is this bitfinex a big deal thing? I really am not a trader and don't know the history of the place... they do seem to do lots of volume...

It gives a lot more access to the coin at a time when the dev team is growing, multiple upgrades are coming out of the pipeline and crypto is coming back up with a bang. I predict 2014 will be remembered for the epic battle between the lite side and the drk side.  Grin

Because scamcoins always get added to one of the most well known, major exchanges. Roll Eyes The other coins trading on the site, litecoin and bitcoin, must be scams as well, right?

I love getting scammed like this.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

I get the rush to add DRK/USD pairs as a large number of people are asking "ok, where can I buy DRKs"? ...but with development being what it is, this creates unnecessary pressure with forks etc.

Can't they just wait a couple of months when DarkSend is final? Having noobz downloading wallets to transfer their newly acquired DRKs and thinking they will never need to upgrade their client (BTC / LTC mentality) can be problematic.

That's where a small warning window "Your client needs update, please download the latest one" can be handy.

Good post and I agree with this. Unfortunately speculation might be getting the better of them and these guys do a lot of research beyond just raising market cap and valuation. I wish they'd held out but we can merely speculate ourselves.

I hope this one is a troll rumor and just that. Last exchange I want to see DRK is BTC-E. I hope no one trades here even if they decide to add it in future. Please don't ask me why, it is the LTC capital of the world and there is just too much DRK hatorade. Even TheKoolio has exited DRK I believe.

Yeah, I just was curious as to how long it's been around, looking through the site is interesting... I'm really curious how they enforce trading on margin... I didn't see specifics on the top-level content, but i'm just still nosing around.

It looks like a place the bigger players might go, which is always a good thing to be essentially put into the top 3 by a bigger player in crypto...

You actually think TheKollio exited DRK Tongue or was it a ruse to so he could buy back in and make double of what he sold. They're great manipulators.

Well, i'm not a daytrader in DRK i've been in for a long time. I do sell and buy a portion of what I hold, but I've always been of the mindset let the pump&dumpers do what they want. The stability of DRK should say something to everyone... let the daytraders do there thing, hopefully let me buy more at a price I think a good entry for long-term holding.

Some DRK trolling going on in that thread with false statements. Looks like we have to get involved to defend our coin with the truth.
