From my viewpoint: Litecoin was insurance against centralisation and govt co opting large data mining centres. Darkcoin is the same plus insurance against govt surveillance of crypto transactions.
good viewpoint.

Its not that often that LTC takes a reasonably significant divergence in direction from BTC, but it seems to be doing at the moment.
FYI on why Drk is a no brainer:

Litecoin coin issuance is 210,240 blocks per year x 50 Ltc per block = 10,512,000 Ltcs per year

Darkcoin coin issuance is 210,240 blocks per years x 5 Drk per block = 1,051,200 Drks per year

At current prices, roughly 10 times the fund inflow is required simply to maintain Ltc's current value compared to Drk.  Why would people keep pumping money into Ltc if the Drk masternode privacy implementation works in 2 weeks' time?  Shocked

Did you believe people is investing on LTC?
We move all our LTC assets to BTC several weeks ago (fortunately on time).
BTC/LTC => 0.017, unbelievable.
Less people wants LTC. ASIC miners doesn't have any other option after pay for those equipments.

At least I dumped all my LTC.

Dumped them at 0.027 when the x11-litecoin fiasco was making litecoin people panic.

I wonder who will buy the next 10mn LTCs of next year's supply at something like 100mn USD... yeah right. Nobody.

I was in shock for about 45 seconds
Before write the previous note, I switch my windows from BTC/DRK to BTC/LTC to check the LTC trading.
Forgot to switch back, went to bathroom, a snack, kiss my wife and return back to my computer.

OMG Shocked PANIC, what happen with DRK??
Fortunately, it was the BTC/LTC trading  and not the BTC/DRK trading. (almost similar exchange values sometimes)
(it was real).

Even if DRK wasn't anonymous, it's inflation model beats LTC's flat curve hands down. It's simply a better and scarcer store of value.
Drk supply is scarcer, but in my view Drk is technically superior, which drives the demand side of the equation.

Alot of people are saying that DRK is for money laundering

They say the same for BTC too.

Actual money laundering goes through banks:

"HSBC was accused of failing to monitor more than $670 billion in wire transfers and more than $9.4 billion in purchases of U.S. currency from HSBC Mexico, allowing for money laundering, prosecutors said. The bank also violated U.S. economic sanctions against Iran, Libya, Sudan, Burma and Cuba, according to a criminal information filed in the case."

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-07-02/hsbc-judge-approves-1-9b-drug-money-laundering-accord.html

...cryptocurrencies are a very small market for any meaningful money laundering. The entire marketcap of BTC is 7-8bn, Darkcoin just 50mn... Mafiozos have more than that in personal networth. Yet HSBC, one bank alone, was responsible for "untracked" 670 billion USD, enabling large scale money laundering.

Bad people will use it no doubt. But on the other hand privacy and the presumption of innocence are the bedrocks of democracy. Choose your path, choose your consequences. The time is ending when money can be used to monitor the activities of people. Right or wrong, it is not our place to judge anymore. The technology is here, today.  Or at least it will be in two weeks.

Ironically, the gov't actually wants bitcoin now! Why? Because it is the ultimate money tracking system.  The NSA could not have designed better.  And some people think maybe they did. lol.

Ironically, the gov't actually wants bitcoin now!

It's losing control of it because all BTC-related money centers go outside of the US.

What happens when DarkSend and the other good stuff to improve anonymity goes open source?  There will be 101 scam artists out there using DarkSend in clone implementations and making all sorts of claims and finding creative ways to get away with it?

keep darksend closed-source.  if it's a new technology that works and gives a clear advantage, why open source it so that a hundred other scam clones can be made?  fuck, be smart and patent it.

For XC people.

Tx fee multiplied.

A ----> mixer ---> B

normal no of transfer  = 2 == 2 * tx fee

to avoid tracking tx from A to mixer splitted.
Mininum is =2

to avoid confusion mixer sum up tx and send B

EDIT: coin sent to B is not related to coin from A.
coin sent from mixer's holding.
a certain level of privacy archived.
But with timing analysis...  Huh

xc  no of transfer  = splittted no + 1 ==  (splittted no + 1) * tx fee

two times splitted ? (2 + 1 ) *  tx fee.

Why this happen ?

Mixer issue a new address to A to get paid.

It is written to blockchain + 1.

O Mixer has money.

To avoid tracking, mixer send money to B with random block height(blockchain + 1 + n).

EDIT2: (+ to make sure block + 1 is confirmed, wait 2~ 3 more confirmation)
          --> oh real receiver is in blockchain + 1 + ( 2 ~ 3) !

It's current XC mixer implementation.

more trolls welcome.

Yep... I also said that it's either LTC (&DOGE) is overpriced or we are way underpriced... The market is adjusting us both (DRK on the rise, LTC and DOGE falling).

I betcha there will be news articles (mainly on the crypto press) on how the DRK consumed the Li(gh)te and the "battle" between the Darkness and the Light...
