Now I just came to see what great news brought drk to life, and it seems that excluding Otoh's resolve to stop all the dumping, nothing great really happened
Actually, I've watched the markets almost every day for the last 6 months and your appraisal doesn't remotely do justice to the reasons behind the current price trend. I'm afraid I'm not going to leave your innuendo unchallenged.
The low was around 0.003 and then the valuation recovered and stabilised at 0.006 for several months between September 15th and January 12th. During the period May 2014 to January 2015 (the top of the spring all time high and the end of the consolidation period) an enormous amount of technical growth has occured. In particular:
- the 2-tier approach that Darkcoin opted for has been successful in achieving its initial objectives of facilitating a massive amount of innovation without disrupting the day to day operation of the blockchain
- the development team has grown from 1 to near on 20 people (including broader roles such as quality control and promotion)
- the algos for mixing have gone from realtime to pre-emptive, introducing major benefits
- Darkcoin consolidated its market cap while that of its competitors continued to diminish (it used to be a factor of 3-4 market cap compared to its nearest anon, now it's now around 7)
- the masternode population grew from a couple of hundred to more than 2000
- significant secondary advantages of the 2-tier approach started to be harvested such as blazing fast confirmation times now in beta
- the coin supply available for trading has reduced due to playing a role in securing masternode security
Secondly, I don't accept your assertion that because you happen to be aware of the source of a buywall it's somehow any less legitimate. In case you didn't notice, it hasn't been sold into despite having been there for weeks. It has also been removed periodically and it didn't make a blind bit of different to the market.
If you think that all amounts to "nothing great really happened" then good luck in finding an asset where it did. I don't think you will because I've looked in detail at every single idea that moves in the crypto world and - though I'm invested in some of them - I've not found any that have such a sustained, focused and productive development effort as this one.
(You could, for example, give "Rimbit" a go - $4 million dollar market cap on $400 volume. Can't be bad
)
