Ok, this is your point of view... Perhaps you are right, but i don't want to wait 10 years till i am perhaps rich, i want to use the dash currencie now at these markets... It would be great when Dash could also make marketing in the Torweb. If Dash would be accepted there, it would prouve the untracability of the funds, and could become wider known... I just wish i could use Dash when i am buying some smoking stuff... One worry less...

Is there a reason for the current growth in price?

The price started to move with the release of the LTB episode a few days ago.  I think it is safe to say that more bitcoiners listen to that show than spend time mulling around in the altcoin section.  Furthermore, there have been continual reports since Darkcoin started last year of people who would buy in if the name wasn't so shady.  And well... the official rebranding date is March 25th.

But at this time, the darkcoin was at 0.08 and the bitcoin at 620... so i got out with a little profit... i have given up the idea to get rich with coins, because when i look around in my country or an other country of europe, i saw never a bitcoin sticker at a door.... Cryptocurrencies will not go away, but they will also not getting massadopted. It is a nerd and outsider, outlaw currencie.... And it will stay there in my opinion. Because: Bitcoin is mostly used at the darknetmarkets.... If dash don't want to have anything to do with these markets, then the price will rest a playball to the speculators! Dash must firstly persuade the "nerds" and the "outlaws" before it gets also used for normal internet transactions like buying at Amazon.

DASH/DRK is the closest anyone has gotten to real cash.  Cash is still the #1 currency for dark markets, drugs, etc....  Why does DASH have to cater to the dark markets?  It's not in the main developer and DASH creator's philosophy.  He can't stop people from ruining their lives nor from using his creation to do so, but he certainly doesn't have to condone it.  The USA government doesn't condone (officially) drug use piracy, etc..., but their fiat money is the #1 currency for those markets.

As far as the average person using it, that will happen when it's easy to get into and out of the space.  Or when DASH and BTC are accepted at so many places that it doesn't matter if you sell out to fiat again.  This will take a little more time, but I suspect the avalanche will begin soon.

In fact, I think there will soon be a real collapse of the establishment economy simply because there is an alternate economy that people can flow into.  An escape valve so to say.  It is going to be a very interesting 10 or so years!

I dunno, my grandma was a young adult during the 1924 collapse of the German Mark.  I don't believe any government is immune.  But I know I'm being radical.  I also know there were exceptional circumstances then, with the Germans paying very heavy punitive damages for WW1 but look at what the USA has been spending on wars.  Now on social services like Obama care.  It's pushing collapse in my honest opinion.

DASH has to cater the darkmarket to become a real contender to real cash! In my country there are 2 "super rich" people: The "honest" man who made his money with a startup firm in the 90ies and sold it for billions of dollar.... and the other one, who was and is still a mafiosi and who could only could get rich through speculation on real estate plus bribery, corruption and the old school mafia methods.... Sad to say, but without cash the second one could not have made his billions.... And sad to say that these people will move their money into gold instead of cryptocurrencies, because they have no idea what these are, how they function and how they could save their money with more comfort to move their wealth over the national borders.

From stonehedge's earlier posts and his honesty in confronting his situation so publicly, I never thought he'd have a problem coping with it in the long term, albeit it must be guttingly hard to swallow such a loss in the short term.

All the same, when I first got into bitcoin I realised I'd 'missed the boat' but wondered how I could still be 'part of the party'.

So I bought a few BTC with a few hundred Euros that I could afford and started following everything. Those few BTC (less than 10 at the time) might as well have been a few thousand because I became fascinated with the whole cryptocurrency technology, evolution and markets.

Stonehenge, even though your original holding is lost, that sense of participation is still open to you as it is to anyone. Get yourself a few DRK at whatever price and have a horse in the race. A stake is a stake whatever the size and the satisfaction you'll get from participation will return to what it was before once you've adjusted.
