****************** Bitcoin's Vanishing Nodes ****************** Have a look at this. https://bitnodes.21.co/nodes/incentive/This is Bitcoin's equivalent of an incentivised masternode policy - except for Bitcoin full nodes which do no more than serve up the blockchain. They offer no complimentary diversified protocol logic like a masternode does. It basically amounts to a third party corporate body (1 guy and his pocket money actually) running a lottery for full nodes, with a prize of $10-$30 a week if your the lucky node. At the moment there are 177 Eligible nodes, that means you have a 1/177 = 0.5% chance of winning 0.08 BTC in a given week. Now they're getting support from 21 Inc - one of the high venture funding bitcoin startups. (No prizes for guessing why they're fundng it - the words "turkeys", "christmas" and "please save my $116M venture capital" spring to mind). http://www.coindesk.com/21-inc-pledges-support-to-bitcoins-vanishing-nodes/Don't get me wrong - I think it's good that somebody's concerned and trying ot do something about the 12% per year dwindling full node population, but the utter futility of this approach surely shows you what Bitcoin's up against while simultaneously demonstrating the elegance of fully incentivised, decentralised masternode network. (For a start, you don't have a 0.5% chance of getting the 'reward' each week, you have a 100% chance). So much for decentralisation. Bitcoin's nodes are now on life support from a $116 million bunch of venture capitalists. Next it's going to be life support from payment channels cos the blocks are getting full. My cynicism isn't because I want to attack bitcoin or to see it die - I want to see it succeed. But it unambigiously vindicates the priorities that Dash has made and for which it has taken flack from all quarters throughout its lifetime - including the bitcoin devs themselves. Maybe some need to start tending to their own backyard first. Thanks for the material! https://twitter.com/TaoOfSatoshi/status/651529491580325888?s=09

Got my Gemini invite, anyone else?
Did you have to cough up $3k USD for it ? My god no, nor would I ever. They just want to know everything including my bathroom schedule. Kinda torn on providing it all.

Disclaimer: I am not a miner or a gamer, so don't go too hard on me if this is a ridiculous idea.

I've had someone offer me a PS3 fairly cheap and I'm probably going to go ahead and get it because I've read that with a little tinkering I can put Linux on it, set it up as a media centre, play Blu-ray discs and maybe even play the odd game or two that he's throwing in. I'm sure I'm not the first cryptocurrency enthusiast to come up with the idea though, no doubt someone here will know how viable it is. At what sort of electricity prices could it be profitable?

There is also the distinct possibility that Cryptsy has done absolutely nothing wrong at all and these are all completely false allegations. So much for that particular DashHole fantasy. BigVern on Twitter: Cryptsy halts bitcoin withdrawals due to the blockchain malleability issuehttps://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3nqfww/bigvern_on_twitter_cryptsy_halts_bitcoin/What a shame for Dash to lose the exchange where >50% of its volume occurs. I hope Poloniex doesn't get infected with Dash's scam germs!

Well, a quick google search shows that they've made a miner for Bitcoin. Notes I've found is that some of the latest firmware blocks the ability to run linux on the PS3, but maybe it can be dialed back. But the biggest problem is to find a miner for X11 that runs on their video card, which isn't AMD or Nvidia. So actually, I'm gonna say no. The Bitcoin miner was created back in 2011 when everyone was still mining on a GPU, and I think the interest has died away.

I think you can downgrade with a dongle but then you can't use psn. now you have to pay for psn on ps4. shame because Cell processor was awesome. Walled garden at it's best EDIT: i don't think current X11 miners would work on their anyway like TanteStefana2 said, it has custom RSX graphics chip. but Cell processor had 8 parallel processing units, would be interesting to try to parallelize X11 on their directly, probably not that useful though

But is wasn't very efficient - I think it was close to a 7850 in speed but used 250 watts. You would be better off with a 750TI that only uses 50 Watts with about the same hashrate. And a 750TI is barely profitable with most electric rates. Unfortunately, even folding is now cutoff from the PS3 apps so you can't even donate to a good cause. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/ps3-stanford-folding-at-home-FAH-Folding-home,18609.html

Hi fellow DASH enthusiasts! I was checking Dashninja and saw two rows that caught my attention: Last Paid (from dashd) 10/3/2015, 3:03:26 PM (3 days 19 hours 3 minutes 33 seconds ago) Last Paid (from blocks) 9/29/2015, 2:15:42 PM (1 week 19 hours 51 minutes 17 seconds ago) What does the upper row with "paid from dashd" mean? The last payment that my masternode received was the lower row, some 8 days ago, but it is unclear to me what the upper dashd reference is?
