In that example BitX is acting as a counterparty and their transactions are instant within their closed, centralized system. That is not very exciting, other than they are using the Bitcoin as an underlying technology.

InstantX lets the users of Dash interact directly with the network, in a safe and easy way, without the need of a third party.

 Not really but close enough! Since this is Debian 8 Jessie, multiarch, it shouldn't be ia32-libs dependent.

 Does steer me in the right track though, thanks, wouldn't have guessed libs issue based on this error

Nope! Linux shut down now, but I triple checked. The previous answer/link sheds some light. Lacking libs may not be reported as such but say file error. Now to hunt down the cross-debian lib, if any...

FWIW, if I am missing a dependency my RHEL linux will give the name of the missing file (ex. lib32.so missing), rather than the name of the file which was called.

I've personally only seen that specific error when it is a permission issue (assuming the file IS there)

1) Have you tried giving it 777 permissions for a quick test?

2) Occasionally permissions act quirky inside my /home/(user)/ folder, and I need to move a file elsewhere for it to run properly

I don't mean to be annoying, but have you checked if all required packages were installed on your system?  They may not mention all of them, but you can assume anything that the Dash wallet needs, this will need?

You know, this is an issue.  Normal people will not understand the difference.  The difference, of course, is control and centralization.  The negatives for this service are fees and possibility, like an exchange, that they will run off with the funds, but more realistically, that they take a significant hold of the population, and start charging higher and higher fees, or empower themselves to the point of creating a cartel and influencing policy.  In fact, for all we know, BitX is a bank owned start up?  I'd rather see people accept 0 confirmation transactions than use something like this.

See, in the end, it doesn't matter how much Dash you own (barring the ability to own enough to control the votes, which is a potential problem now, but not so much in the future due to entropy) you can't, even if you were a government, take the funds from the people, you can't manipulate the value - not really once the value is large enough.  No powerful entity can manipulate the economy, when it is truly free. Of course that's in a perfect world, and nothing is perfect, but we certainly have a chance here to swing the pendulum back to the other side.

But normal people are so used to being catered to, so I'm sure BitX will be successful.  Which is scary.  I hope Dash's solution will be the right one.  It's as easy as a bank account, yet completely trustless.  The only thing it lacks is insurance, but that will most certainly become a service that people can pay for.  Insure yourself against theft in the highest amount you ever keep in your wallet, pay the price.  How the insurer checks to see if you've simply stolen from yourself or if an outsider did it, I have no idea If I can figure that out, I'm starting an insurance company, LOL

Just looked at their site.  You got that right. bitx is just a bitx owned central ledger that records bitcoin transactions.  I guess you better trust Bitx, there is nothing secure about them storing your bitcoins.  It could offer competition to lower credit card fees, but really it seems like just a ploy to get the bitcoin enthusiast to use a banking system.  You would also need to have both parties have a bitx wallet.

It looks like they make money on exchange of fiat to bitcoin.  They could manipulate the exchange rate to their benefit, so I doubt that it is just going to be a 1% fee for the takers.  Their model as you say is probably to get x% involved then jack the rates.  It isn't sustainable to charge 0 fees for bitx to bitx transactions like they are doing.

Wow, interesting!  I didn't look into it that much , but yah, I don't see this lasting terribly long when people begin to realize Dash is right here   But then again, people really want a centralized wallet like at an exchange or the many available online, what can I say without sounding like Camosoul, LOL?

I want to...tell a story of a couple of nights ago.  My hubby and kids were in Texas visiting family, and my sister came over.  We sat at the fireplace sipping wine and enjoying each other's company in a quiet way that almost never happens.  And she, who is completely skeptical, started asking questions about Dash.  But what about this?  How can you do that?  etc.... and by the end, when she went back home, she'd learned a lot more about Dash and crypto currency than I've ever been able to explain before.  It was very nice.  She's far from being converted but on the other hand, she's starting to mull it over.  Very exciting for me   If she ever converts, LOL, then the rest of the world would be a slam dunk!
