I think it is a bit soon to give up on bitcoin. The large block folks have only recently converged at a consensus to attempt a hard fork at 2mb. Sure 2 mb is just kicking the can, but if they succeed in kicking it once it will discredit core and forking away from it should be easier in the future. If that fails then I can see giving up on blockstream coin, but the bitcoin community still has 6 billion dollars worth of reasons to take back the power. That's a lot of incentive to get shit done.

I will no longer be taking part in Bitcoin development and have sold all my coins. - Mike Hearn Mike Hearn, if you want to work on an exciting crypto currency with a strategy for the future, DASH could be just what you're looking for. Some of DASH's features Instantly (double spend resistant) confirmed transactions 100% transaction up time (no fear of not making it into the block) Anonymous or transparent transactions - users choice Thousands of transactions per second Decentralised Incentivised full nodes - we will have more than Bitcoin very soon Self funded based on community votes Highly secure 2 tier network... Soon to be 3 tier Community Governance (miners are not in charge) 51% attack resistant with Evolution X11 ASIC resistant mining algorithm- cpu and gpu only allows everybody to mine it. With much more such as Free transactions for standard users and a small fee for heavy users (90/10 split) DASH Drive, social networking integration, Decentralised API and more... We can guaranteed you won't be bored and you certainly won't be engulfed in politics for months on end as we have the means to resolve our differences quickly 😉 You might want to watch the DASH presentation at the Miami Bitcoin Conference next week.

Oh wow I will no longer be taking part in Bitcoin development and have sold all my coins. - Mike Hearn I read the whole article. Two thoughts jump out at me. First, maybe I'm oversimplifying it, but Mike Hearn got caught up in the American-centric banter about Core vs. XT, when it's really the Chinese who control Bitcoin. Nothing the American developers say or do matters unless miners adopt the changes. So Bitcoin is hostage to the miners, and unless you convince a handful of mining operators to use updated Bitcoin software, nothing is going to get fixed. That's really scary. The lack of ability to reach consensus will be Bitcoin's downfall. At this point, Satoshi himself might be the only one with enough influence to break the deadlock. Second, it definitely looks like Bitcoin Core is, ironically, 'going corporate' (in fact let's just call it Bitcoin Core-porate). Both the refusal to raise the block size and the introduction of RBF point to the obvious: tiny transactions like buying a soda with Bitcoin are going to be off limits, and very soon. The little guy is getting kicked off the Bitcoin network, and only major operators like Coinbase, BitPay, and large banking institutions will be allowed to play on the block chain. At least, the Bitcoin block chain. HOLY SHIT. THIS IS THE PERFECT SETUP FOR DASH.

Anyone who wants a chunk of this coin supply better get a move on. It's all going to the reserve market by stealth and the people trading Dash currency market have no clue what's round the corner since migration from currency to reserve does not manifest itself in price until a very late stage in the game.

The NYT article concludes about Mike Hearn taking up a job at startup R3: This work lacks the purity of Bitcoin, but after months of sleepless nights, fretting about betrayed promises, he said, “I want to be in a professional environment again where people are grounded in some sort of business reality.” Once again, DASH, as a DAC, has all the tools to stay focused and deliver a compelling product and experience, much like real businesses must do.

The banana skin will be that the crypto works and the drawer jams. Maybe quit worrying about software and get some WD-40.

But I believe during the next big pump (if there'll be one) there'll be a large dip in this graph. Because hosting a masternode can be profitable only if you buy at the bottom and then sell higher. Otherwise it's just an expensive geek project.
